Well by God, Texas boys have the right to have a shotgun! I like Hickock 45s idea of pot smoking! 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

I was taught back in instructors school, that factory bead sights were regulated for 100 yards. No one seems to believe that but your shooting high along with my experience with slugs on the range, seem to confirm it! Pump 12s are still great.

    How much do these run?

  7. Jeremy Wills on December 7, 2021 at 9:28 pm

A 1300 is my go to home defense tool. I’ve shot the snot out of mine over the years. Its just a reliable tool that goes bang every time.

  8. Scootin' Fool on December 7, 2021 at 9:28 pm

I love those federal slugs. The polymer ball behind the slug really makes a difference and the low recoil makes shooting a few of them effortless. My deer gun is a 12 ga and those are the slugs I use.

  9. Terrill Williams on December 7, 2021 at 9:28 pm

Are you looking for gold nuggets in that ejection port?

  10. matthew linville on December 7, 2021 at 9:30 pm

  11. mark much on December 7, 2021 at 9:31 pm

After 2 guys broke into my house at 2 am about 36 years ago I bought a Defender the next day, and no one has broken in since so it must be a fine shotgun. It’s loaded with #4 buckshot.

  12. marks man on December 7, 2021 at 9:32 pm

Sound like the shotgun that Kyle Reese had on terminator 1 before they remastered the sound.

Great vid hickok. I am also a retired LE officer and can Remember when our patrol cars were outfitted with these, having upgraded from the ole mossbergs. Not sure if either had issues as I remember both being “patrol duty reliable” but the 1300s did shoot slugs with a tighter group then the mossbergs. I remember the entire department when outfitted with the 1300s had improved accuracy scores during qualifying and recertification and the loads were the same. I believe we carried Remington slug loads 2 3/4” and some guys had the riot version which were ready to rock with 00 buck. Many fun memories.

The “Get off my property!” Shotgun

  20. HVAC Mike on December 7, 2021 at 9:40 pm

My first gun was a single shot .410.
You could grab the wood piece under the barrel and pull it off.
This would allow you to open the gun and remove the barrel.
I cannot remember who made this gun. This was over 40 years ago.
If you or anyone reading this knows the answer I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for all your videos.

Hotter slug will prolly hit more on point of aim right?

  24. OCATTACO OCATTACO on December 7, 2021 at 9:42 pm

Hickok45 when you open with "If I had a shotgun". Where does that historical reference come from? I am familiar with it from a 1990s Sublime song, but I’m sure the reference is much older than that. Thanks!

  25. Sean Winters on December 7, 2021 at 9:42 pm

I own a 1300, how can I get that finish you have on yours?

  26. Dan Smith on December 7, 2021 at 9:42 pm

They probably aren’t going to confiscate your guns (right away) but the dems will see to it that you’re not able to buy anything they don’t like. If the house and senate won’t pass the gun control Biden demands, he will do it via executive order. Then, he will demand that the ATF suspend the FFLs (Federal Firearms Licenses) of dealers that don’t comply. Covid taught us that the most effective way to implement unpopular tyranny is via the licensing system.

  27. chim reynolds on December 7, 2021 at 9:46 pm

I had one of these, it was a perfect shotgun, but 3" magnum shells were heavy on recoil…

First gun I ever bought was a 1200 defender. I bought it used in a gun store in 2008 for 250 bucks. I beat the hell out of it and it still runs flawlessly.

  33. Chris S on December 7, 2021 at 9:53 pm

If you have never fired a 12GA slug, I highly recommend NOT doing what the Legend @Hickok45 just did! 34 slugs in around 10 minutes, what a guy!! Lol

  34. RedneckIllinois on December 7, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Hate to break it to you hickock but the great state of Kentucky is a whole lot better than TN 😄

  35. Rick Shipper on December 7, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Saw someone that looked a lot like you & your range on Tucker this evening.

  40. jmoney on December 7, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Just bought a 1300 defender and compared to you and yours, I think my sight may be off haha

  41. Firebird Stark on December 7, 2021 at 10:00 pm

Cannot find a shotgun like this anywhere, I’ve been looking for months. Mossberg, Remington, none of them. I’m starting to think they’re not making them.

  42. Peter Moberly on December 7, 2021 at 10:02 pm

I bought a 1300 used as my first hunting gun. It always worked but pieces kept falling off. Piece of junk if you ask me

  43. K White on December 7, 2021 at 10:03 pm

Keep your Remington AND Mossberg. I’ll take my Winchester 1300 Defender (with 18" HD, 24" trap, and 26" cantilever rifled barrels) all day. Super versatile!

  44. YAHshakar on December 7, 2021 at 10:04 pm

Wood and steal my kinda shotgun! This is the shotgun Savage Arms made a version of the stevens 320 12 gauge.. soild design..

  45. x x on December 7, 2021 at 10:04 pm

I got one of these for nothin – came through the shop missing parts, needing a lot of work. Guy gave up on it, so I adopted it. Stripped it, got new parts, fixed it up nice, and now it’s like butter. Love my 1300 Defender. Just want to carve a new stock, maybe a bird’s head.

  46. Jarod 1999 on December 7, 2021 at 10:04 pm

Love that cocking sound of the model 1300

  47. Scuba Mike on December 7, 2021 at 10:06 pm

IL is the last state that mandates shotgun only for deer gun hunting. You can use pistols and muzzleloaders too.

  48. Gregory Wilson on December 7, 2021 at 10:08 pm

A model 1300 Defender has been my duty shotgun for about 30 years. You wouldn’t recognize it anymore with a tac light, rifle sights, plastic furniture, side saddle, and a single point sling. But it’s the same trusty old Winchester.

  49. MAGA TRON on December 7, 2021 at 10:08 pm

Can anyone tell me how to unload a 1300 defender if you have a slug in the breach and don’t wish to fire it, as my one, ( unloaded) if the cock it, it locks everything, until you pull the trigger…. If you had a live slug it would mean you have to fire it.

  50. westfälischer Jung on December 7, 2021 at 10:09 pm

Did not know that Ballistol was a thing in the states! Thats the old german multipurpose oil my great grandfather already used almost a century ago!
