Why I like the H&R Handi Rifle

Why I like the H&R Handi Rifle

Great truck gun. Quick to stow, quick to assemble and shoot. Rugged and simple. Accurate. It could be a good back packer too.

I have this rifle in .270, and suggesting on best bullet weight and bullet makers? I shoot what I can buy, which is 130 and 150 grain.

Can you use a 308 H&R barrel on a 22 win mag H&R are the interchageble

I love H&R, they are an under rated company in my opinion. However, I’ve held off on buying one of these becuase I really feel a rifle should always have back up iron sights. If these came with iron sights, I’d buy two. But becuase thay dont I’ve been looking into getting a rossi wizard, they come with sights and aparently dont need to go back to the factory for new barrels. However, a few reviews I’ve read say the sights are crap. So IDK. Did you decide to buy ammo, gun or a reloading press?

All I own is h&r/New England rifle and shotguns made UN my hometown for many years my father built them as did my uncle and aunt for over 35 Years I just have to much pride in them and they have never let me down. They are also before marlin bought them out so most are over 25 years old

I have a handi rifle 45-70 but where can I get a scope mount

I have a few of these rifles. The company is no longer making these rifles and the company is done. Another example of stagnation of a great American gun company. There were many things they could have done to stay afloat but they did the opposite, like ditching their barrel accessory program. Another problem was the price of a 200 dollar rifle climbed and the price of solid bolt action rifles dropped. For those of us who like the single shot thank god for cva. They make a nice looking rifle with a consistent trigger out of the box and they did what H&R refused to do , they make a nice single shot hunting handgun.

Is the concave back of the foreend made of plastic. If so, will it break?

  16. Fireworxs2012 on November 28, 2021 at 10:47 pm

I owned one of these in a 25-06 and it was a piece of crap….

I have three of these with synthetic stocks. Kind of sad they stopped making them and extra barrels. I guess it was inevitable when they got up to almost $300 and bolt action rifles got down to just over $300 and sometimes under $300 on sale. Handi rifles made sense when bolt actions were $400 and a handi rifle was $200.

    I like the H & R single-shot break-action guns…. have several.  What caliber is this Handi-Rifle ?

  21. Medmann48 on November 28, 2021 at 11:04 pm

I just bought one of the Rossi Wizard .223 Rifles from Kentucky Gun Company for $87.99 with free shipping. They say this is a Blem gun but I will be damned if I can find any blemishes on this rifle, it looks new. I am looking forward to taking it out to the range. You can also change out barrels on the Rossi.

I have a Handi Rifle with that same stock in .30-06. Got it when I was 12 as my third gun (traded in my 2nd one for it, which was an H&R single shot 20 ga.). To this day, it is still the best gun I’ve ever owned, and the only rifle I’ve ever owned. It’s accurate as hell and dependable. It’s the only gun that I’ve owned longer than 6 months that hasn’t had some kind of issue, and I’ve had it for 6 years.
