Walther PPQ trigger job

Walther PPQ trigger job

In this video, I’ll show you how to adjust out the trigger pre-travel and how to fine tune it. It should be noted that if you remove all the pre-travel, the firing pin safety will be partially deactivated. You should fine tune the pre-travel so that it is not deactivated.

I appreciate the ingenuity, but I think it’s a bad move, and for anyone reading these comments I have to say I don’t recommend it. There’s nothing wrong with a little take up, as after the first shot, you’re only dealing with the distance of the reset of the trigger anyway. Unless you take your finger all the way off the…most practiced shooters do not.

This is brilliant. I do wonder about the liability of carrying a modified pistol for defensive use. Maybe I’ll just order another takedown lever for emergencies if I need to slap it in real quick.

Edit: Is the slide safety plunger/firing pin block fully depressed in your gun with the pretravel removed this much? I wonder if this alters the drop-safety of the weapon also. I’d worry that the striker might be able to hit the primer if dropped in just the right way.

Hi, awesome video and definitely a genius move, I would’ve never thought of that. Have a couple of questions if you could please answer would appreciated very much, what type of glue did you use to attach that extra little bit that looks about a millimeter and maybe a half and also can you please clarify regarding the trigger safety.
    Thanks, Walter

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. Once I actually purchase the PPQ I will try to figure out what parts you’re talking about that needs to be filed. thanks

But the trigger safety won’t work anymore. Or you have to shorten the trigger safety, right?

Great idea. I don’t really trust glue on plastic. I used three strips of Gorilla Tape. The tape is on the bottom, so if it comes off it won’t interfere with anything. I also made sure by lining the slide up with the frame, pulling the trigger while watching the trigger bar, to make sure the firing pin block was being engage after the trigger was released.
