4570 is really hard to find been searching for one for 3 months

  4. Jakub Koža Mléčka on November 18, 2021 at 11:48 pm

Why do you hunt bears? Is their meat yummy?

  5. flippyhambone on November 18, 2021 at 11:50 pm

I once killed a bear with a Beretta 92 while camping near Mount Deception. Although it was pretty dark and we were drinking, Steve and I agreed it was a bear. Never did find the bear’s body though, just a human body nearby that had apparently took his own life. I guess life’s funny like that, sometimes.

Living in alaska especially up here in a rural village all you need is a 30-30, 308, or a type of military surplus like 7.62-54R or any cowboy caliber

  7. Tac Man on November 18, 2021 at 11:52 pm

Pretty good choices Chuke. Here (Saskatchewan) we don’t have brown bears but we have black bears and wolves and the odd cougar. My two rifles of choice are the Winchester 1886 in 45-70 and my Marlin 336 in 30-30. Both are pretty capable but the Winchester is a bit heavy (mine is a 24” Octagon Deluxe) at about 9 1/2 lbs.

  8. abbykako on November 18, 2021 at 11:54 pm

What about the Taurus Raging Judge? It shoots a 454 Casul

  9. Win94ae on November 18, 2021 at 11:55 pm

    Great guns!

  10. joe garza on November 18, 2021 at 11:55 pm

    Look at the camera, please.

  11. Nick Taylor on November 18, 2021 at 11:56 pm

I’d use a 45 70 over a shotgun. Those hardcast 400+ grain hardcast are brutal. They kill slugs, 454 cassul, 10mm and 44 magnum. It’s not even close

  12. richard thomas on November 18, 2021 at 11:56 pm

No need for packing a heavy handgun when you have a 45-70 trapper or guide gun strapped across your chest muzzle down. Quick as lightning and almost as deadly.

  13. Robert Patuto on November 18, 2021 at 11:56 pm

    450 Bushmaster AR Ruger 10Round Magazine, 41 magnum S&W 4"

  14. Blitz None on November 18, 2021 at 11:56 pm

My youngest son lives in Fairbanks. I bought him a Henry 45.70.

  15. Tactical_ Sasquatch on November 18, 2021 at 11:58 pm

Cries with my Taurus 66 on my hip and Maverick 88 with 00 buck on my shoukder :.(

  16. John Erlich on November 18, 2021 at 11:58 pm

Chuke. I have a Trapper. I want to put a scout scope on it. Did you use the rear barrel mount for your scope? I want to figure how to do that.

  17. Ed Choi on November 18, 2021 at 11:59 pm

I got a couple Ruger Alaskans one in 454 Casull and one in 480 Ruger Magnum but bought a Smith and Wesson snub nose in 460 Magnum for bear protection but my real fun hiking or hunting in bear country gun is a clone of the HK 51 with 8 Inch barrel in 308 🙂

  18. curtis Long on November 19, 2021 at 12:02 am

Just ordered my Chukes hoodie in forest green, my current ones are getting pretty well worn out lol

  19. TheAmwayManTV on November 19, 2021 at 12:03 am

When u say brown bear do u mean. Grizzly? I’m from Canada 🇨🇦 so just making sure

There are lots of grizzlies up here and need one for when I’m fishing

  20. Anton on November 19, 2021 at 12:03 am

I wish in Canada we could carry a pistol while hunting.

  21. B W on November 19, 2021 at 12:05 am

500 Magnum with 700 grain hard cast bullets. It would take an elephant down.

  22. CORPS Tv on November 19, 2021 at 12:06 am

I run 50 beowulf AR as my home defense weapon. I guess I would take it against a bear aswell

  23. 512TEXAS GEAR on November 19, 2021 at 12:07 am

So Do they Add barrels to those guns? you’d think they’d just make the barrel longer but instead looks like it used to be a 2" revolver with a barrel attached… always wounded that

  24. Allan Scott Perry on November 19, 2021 at 12:08 am

Thanks for the video. I will be moving from New Hampshire to my spot betrween Willow and Talkeetna this coming Spring/Summer. My intentions include purchasing 45.70, 454 Casull, and a 12 guage shotgun to get me started with preditor defence. Can you point me in the direction of reliable gun stores in my area so that I won’t have to travel all the way down to Anchorage?

  25. STEVE P on November 19, 2021 at 12:09 am

I’d go with 12 gauge with slugs and 000 buckshot and .44 Magnum.

  26. Stefan Taylor on November 19, 2021 at 12:10 am

I grew up 16 miles from Ketchikan 👍
Stainless is the way to go when you live in a rain forest

  27. Nicholas on November 19, 2021 at 12:11 am

One day at a local firearm shop an old man who operated this store for some 30 years, showed me his defense rifle.
It was an AR Platform Rifle Chamber in 45-70Gov. I didn’t ask how he did it. He obviously is a Gunsmith and he built a bunch of different firearms. But that one sticks out as something amazing. He says this is my defense rifle, pulls out the magazine & shows me red ballistic tipped 45-70 rounds.
An insane rifle. They did have the 50. Beowolf also.

  28. The Happy Ant on November 19, 2021 at 12:12 am

It’s a ruger revolver not a pistol, like you said,

  29. Tactical_ Sasquatch on November 19, 2021 at 12:13 am

    Will this work on Bigfoot?

  30. Barney Go on November 19, 2021 at 12:13 am

.45-70 fan boy here anyways, But Chuke just confirms that we think alike. Carried an 870 for hiking in Coastal BC (Cascade Mtns) but did not like that balance point on the receiver. Prefer my Marlin GSBL…. thanks for all the information that you put out there…. Peace Be To Journey!

  31. TERMINATOR2 on November 19, 2021 at 12:15 am

Is the springfield m1a scout squad rifle in. 308 good for Bear defense?

  32. Ethan .A. on November 19, 2021 at 12:15 am

Why burros or Leopold over vortex

  33. Bjorn O'Conner on November 19, 2021 at 12:16 am

I want to know what you do for a living. It seems you’re always sitting on your basement with tons of guns. you drive around in a big fancy truck with its own lift system for your beds what do you do for a living?

  34. AmericanBoi1776 on November 19, 2021 at 12:19 am

Thx this is perfect for Idaho

  35. Earth and Solar System anomalies on November 19, 2021 at 12:19 am

Will they work on Sasquatch or Dogmen……..

  36. Rob S Taylor on November 19, 2021 at 12:19 am

I was looking at the GBL 1985 or the Dark model, you think hunting in Kodiak and other areas i should stick with getting a trapper? I like the SBL but don’t like the high shine finish.

  37. 512TEXAS GEAR on November 19, 2021 at 12:20 am

    AR45/70…🤷‍♂️

  38. Robert Petersson on November 19, 2021 at 12:21 am

    browning bar 9,3×62

  39. Justin on November 19, 2021 at 12:23 am

Chuke, serious question; in terms of any rifle why not use something semi auto, short, high capacity with big enough bullets moving a bit quicker like an AK pistol w/ a brace, an AR10 pistol in .308, or AR15 in Beowulf? What are your thoughts?

  40. Sonny Peralta on November 19, 2021 at 12:23 am

357mag lever action and 357 mag revolver ,keep life simple. I mean why get hard to get ammo 😒

  41. Dr.IsR on November 19, 2021 at 12:25 am

Which ammo do you use in the 4570 for grizzly bear defence?

  42. hickok45 on November 19, 2021 at 12:25 am

Good video. Nice choices, but I have to admit that I traded off my Ruger Toklat in .454 several years ago. Guess I’m just a "recoil wimp" with some guns, because that thing really stung my hands badly, more so that about any other big caliber handgun I’ve "enjoyed." 🙂

  43. Doug Harlow on November 19, 2021 at 12:28 am

I keep hearing about aiming well but no one clarify’s that. Show how and where to aim. Thanks

  44. ikenbomb! on November 19, 2021 at 12:31 am

Hey Chuke are you still on the road how are you?

  45. Ed Walker on November 19, 2021 at 12:31 am

Great advice, great weapon. Also can’t beat the good old 30 06 220 grain, take out anything. Then, they say an Eskimo woman got a polar bear with one shot out of a ar15… I guess it’s a lot about about shot placement.. I have heard some Alaska bear hunters use a Barrett 50 caliber… That would do it !

  46. Brandon Blount on November 19, 2021 at 12:38 am

I live in Siberia and I kill polar bear with ax ….

  47. John Erlich on November 19, 2021 at 12:38 am

Is that scope mounted on the rear barrel site dovetail?

  48. Colton T on November 19, 2021 at 12:41 am

.450 Marlin scout rifle was my favorite until I built an Bushmaster .450 AR. Loaded with 20 + 1 in 325gr hornady slugs I feel is the modern option

  49. pappagetti 2009 on November 19, 2021 at 12:43 am

I don’t have the balls to pull a gun on a bear unless it was a life or death, last chance for survival, scenario. Because if this things fails….

  50. Sandy Cannon on November 19, 2021 at 12:44 am

.44 magnum or 10 mm. Bear spray as primary. But more than likely if you’re lucky you’ll get maybe one shot as someone who has been charged multiple times you really don’t have time to react so no matter what you carry have it ready and please practice practice practice at your local gun range. Everybody has an opinion but when it truly happens you’ll be so fascinated by how fast these animals can be on top of you you won’t even have time to reach for your gun if you’re lucky maybe and I hope no one has to experience it
