Thompson Center Performance Center LRR 6.5 Creedmoor: The Best PRS Rifle?

Thompson Center Performance Center LRR 6.5 Creedmoor: The Best PRS Rifle?

I do some shooting with the new Thompson Center and Smith & Wesson Performance Center Long Range Rifle (LRR) chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, test its accuracy, go over its features, and discuss what I think of it overall.

The rifle is also available in 308 Winchester and 243 Winchester.

    Nice Rifle I want one

  7. Mike D on December 8, 2021 at 11:34 pm

How is the fit and finish from the factory on these? I saw some scratches on the stock and what appeared to be rust or something on the muzzle brake.

I’m sure you’ve put it through its paces, just curious if those cosmetic things were there when it left the factory?

I own one instead of being a six flag creedmoor it is a 300 win mag it is the most beautiful gun I got lucky and got it in 300 win mag before they went to the 308 in the other Chambers so I’m quite happy

  13. Iron Head on December 8, 2021 at 11:36 pm

I can’t decide between this, Bergara B14 BMP, Mossberg MVP, ruger precision in 300 prc, or Savage. B10 Stealth, what do you think??

  14. Coach 1092 on December 8, 2021 at 11:39 pm

This gun has all the options that I was looking for to put together for a custom rifle.

Do you happen to know what a barrel replacement is like on one of these? Being in 6.5 chances are it will need to be replaced one day and wondering how much of a pain it will be when that day comes? Thank you is as always for the great reviews.

  18. War Eagle on December 8, 2021 at 11:42 pm

I have one of these and bought the ATN 4k ultra 5×20(w/night vision) and added the Auto Range finder.

  19. Brandon Williams on December 8, 2021 at 11:43 pm

Which one is better i am about to buy the 6.5 creedmor or the 308? I always appreciate your reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Larry Funk on December 8, 2021 at 11:45 pm

Nice looking rifle, but the rifling twist rates in the 243 and 308 really make me wonder about the sensibility of the designers…

This vs the Bergara. Which one would you choose?

  26. Zombie slayer on December 8, 2021 at 11:50 pm

What kind of bipod and suppressor are you using with the Thompson Center rifle?

  27. Brandon Williams on December 8, 2021 at 11:50 pm

Is thr ruger precision better than this one?

  28. Mike Wright on December 8, 2021 at 11:51 pm

I would be careful about buying anything from TC I have sent a muzzle loader back 3 times as it is terribly inaccurate about 5" at 100 yds and they not only did nothing to fix it the last time I sent it in they shot it and didnt clean it then sent it back with a barrel full of rust, when I contacted them they said it was not there responsibility to clean it.

  29. Dags Harding on December 8, 2021 at 11:51 pm

Hey Mr G , im in the midst of buying one of these rifles . Here in Australia they are retailing for around $2250 – $2500 Aud which is 2 x that of USD . Not that that has stopped me. You mention in your review that you can remove the bolt if you raise the cheek piece ? Have you actually done this as the manual says the but stock needs to be removed. I know this review is a few months old but if you have time for a quick reply that would be muchly appreciated. Thanks Darren

  30. James Harris on December 8, 2021 at 11:51 pm

I just picked up my Thompson LRR from my FFL today. It is chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor but the magazine says 308 on the bottom. I know they are similar calibers but does that sound right to you?

  31. Puddin127 on December 8, 2021 at 11:52 pm

such a cool rifle….for the money it really gets you into long range shooting. a buddy of mines dad owns the one in .243. the only complaints online are about weight really, this is a bench rest rifle, not a hunting rifle hahaha. if your looking at rifles like this one for an elk hunt….maybe you need to pick another hobby.

  32. KTITAN23 on December 8, 2021 at 11:54 pm

Great video and beautiful gun. I wish I could afford a weapon setup like that.

  33. wtgphoto on December 8, 2021 at 11:57 pm

    Great review!

  34. Tim Bell on December 8, 2021 at 11:57 pm

What rings did you use – you covered it all and went past the rings. Low Med High ?? With the 20MOA rail ?

  35. Coach 1092 on December 8, 2021 at 11:58 pm

Do a video comparing a $80 bipod to a $250 one. Set up a screen blocking it so that you can’t see which bipod you’re shooting with so there is no bias. You’ll obviously need someone to help you. I think that would be a good video.

  36. The Shootin' Dutchman on December 8, 2021 at 11:58 pm

Just at a gun show yesterday here in Denver and I saw this rifle for $996……….I bought a Bergara B-14 about six months ago for $1250 and that included a 5% law enforcement discount.I love the rifle but it’s probably a good thing I had never seen the Smith & Wesson / Thompson Center LRR or I may have left with this rifle in my hand instead. All in all, I will still stay with a bergara because it has a button rifled barrel whereas I believe the Smith & Wesson / Thompson Center has a cold hammer-forged barrel. Suite rifle though!

  37. Ted Dover on December 8, 2021 at 11:58 pm

This video is a year old so Im curious as to what you think of the gun now? How many rounds have you put through it?? Barrel condition and Im really curious about the bolt condition and play? Thanks!

Watched this once more, great review. Ordering today. Thank you so much.

  39. fillupread on December 9, 2021 at 12:02 am

Few questions. How to you rate this to the RPR? I currently own the RPR but I have a 243 Venture that out shoots my RPR 6.5 out to 500 yards. I am considering selling my RPR for the LRR. Second, what kind of watch are you wearing?

  40. USA First on December 9, 2021 at 12:03 am

You do a Very nice review. All the Important questions are answered. Thanks!

  41. rlopez95207 on December 9, 2021 at 12:06 am

  42. deliemma on December 9, 2021 at 12:06 am

I saw your review on the Bergara hmr as well, between this rifle and the Bergara hmr which do you think is a better value at the price point?

    Thanks

  43. Jason Thomas on December 9, 2021 at 12:07 am

I am giving this 2 stars for the reason that there have been a great number of people on forums having the exact same problem that I am having with the trigger sticking. Some people reported that it fires after releasing the trigger. S&W will put a new trigger in of the same type however that doesn’t take care of the underlying safety issues with their trigger. This is a huge safety issue that S&W will not remedy. Mine has already been to the shop and still has the same problem.

Don’t waste your money on Thompson Center Rifles. I wish that there was a lemon law for firearms.

Possible safety issues with this rifle!

  44. Kimber Cowboy on December 9, 2021 at 12:08 am

Is this ready to put bipod on. Thank you

  45. Angry iSLANDER on December 9, 2021 at 12:08 am

Does your trigger every get stuck back? My safety and trigger mechanisms were getting stuck on each other cause the safety to fire the weapon as well. Had to take it apart twice at the range to fix the issue. Looking into sending it in to get repaired.

Nice review! I’m interested in this rifle and the Bergara HMR….

  47. jesse sandoval on December 9, 2021 at 12:13 am

Any chance you plan on reviewing the Mossberg mvp precision?

  48. Aneronix - on December 9, 2021 at 12:15 am

I went today to get a ruger precision rifle. I walked out with this rifle chambered in 308. Once I put it in my hands I was sold. I put a viper venom hs-t 6×24 50 optic on top. Sadly it’s 3 degrees out so I wasn’t shooting today. Came here to get an idea of the gun and really enjoyed the review.

  49. Old Rover on December 9, 2021 at 12:20 am

Great review , I just ordered mine a couple of days ago. This Review confirmed my decision and made me even more excited about my purchase. I just hopes it gets here soon. My awesome lightly used Minox ZX5i 5-25X50 arrived today. Should be a nice rig.
Well done review , one of the best I have seen, I just subscribed. Thanks
