The NEW Mossberg 590S Eats Anything
In this episode of TFBTV, Hop previews the newest model of the venerable Mossberg 590 shotgun: the 590S. The 590S is everything you know and love about the 590, but with some internal tweaks that allow it to reliably cycle mini shells without the use of an adapter. The new 590S, and 590S Shockwave will feed 2 3/4″, 3″, and 1 3/4″ short shells interchangeably. Using short shells gives you a 50 percent increase in capacity, and a significant reduction in recoil. In a full-size shotgun like the 590 they’re a bit of a gimmick, but in the stubby Shockwave, they actually start to make sense.

The people in the video need proper shotgun training. The best way to tell is, the action in the firing process. "FREE" helpful hint, "when you discharge a round, pull the action back at the same time. That way you can put the round in the chamber while still on target and use the momentum of the firearms discharge as a guide.

If there is no compromise of reliability, wouldn’t this be the next evolution of the Mossberg 500/590 series and make all old models obsolete? Heck, it would annihilate the competition.
I’m serious, why buy the other models if the "S" series gives me an advantage of ammo variety? If they make the 590S Marinecote version, that will be the ultimate survivalist shotgun.
3:47 I laughed a bit too hard at this. I was thinking about the same thing right before you said it, like, "damn, I’m sure gang members would love fitting a ton of minis in that shockwave."
But all things aside, I bought myself a Mossberg 590 Retrograde in July and mostly bought it for the trench gun aesthetic. I added a bayonet, M1907 sling and bought a canvas ammo pouch. (I’m a WWI history geek) But I absolutely love all its features and I’ll hopefully be taking it hog hunting soon!

I didn’t know Mini shell compatibility was something special, I was using bantam shells in my 870 for years with no issues 🤷🏻♂️
Does it come in semi auto, or shock wave configuration and, witch short barrel shotguns are legal in NYC WITHOUT any Tax stamps.?
Mini shell is pointless, it’s like a shotgun trying to identify as an ar while being worse in every way
2.75 is optimum for tactical applications, 3 and 3.5 is good for big games, anything smaller is useless

Welp, my worth-less than 2c advice is I wouldn’t buy a shotty based on Mini’s !!!! I own a 590 with an Opsol & it works perfectly……….I own a Winchester 1300 & it too shoots mini’s flawless.
Mini’s are pricey & hard to get…..you can buy um for HD…….but they are just too spendy to do bulk shooting…..for my shotty’s the Federal shorty’s are the most accurate, but virtually impossible to find.
here is the dope on the use of shotguns military wise that few have touched on,1 round lotta results as in charge stopper or breakers
The barrel on the 590S is improved cylinder choked, big difference, tighter groupings.

Mini-shells are useful for CQB and short-range game. More shells in a short tube, lower recoil for faster recovery, and– most importantly–reduced penetration so you don’t shoot-through and hit an innocent or buddy.
Magnum shotgun shells: "If you really hate turkeys and your own shoulder." Tooooo Funny.
Good luck finding any mini shells that’s for damn sure. It’s a damn shame that shooting has now become a rich mans sport with the price of ammunition being the way it is, if you can even find some. Shit you could shoot through $30 in less than a minute and that’s being conservative. Really hard on those of us who are living on a fixed income. Terrible shame what this country has become and as Karen said “it’s only just begun.” For those of us who are old enough to get that musical reference. Let’s go Brandon.
One of our "dreams" at OPSol, after the adapter became popular, was to have the NRA et al start pushing hard for shotgun home defense training. In particular, for women. We just think there would be a huge market for local trainers to hold weekend training classes. First day would be familiarization etc. Second day working a course with their shotgun.
Everyone wins…OPSol (of course!), Mossberg, Federal, Aguila, Challenger, the trainer, and the citizens.
Minis are fun but the price and quantity suck
