I inherited my best friend’s DD M4 Carbine with the old Magpul MOE stock. I’d like to attach a Magpul MS4 to the rifle. Will it plug directly into the existing socket in the end plate at the rear of the receiver? At which point I would need only to get an attachment point on the rail at the front?

Go to the Philippines, where 3 point slings are still a "thing".

I’ve always used a two point sling and it works for me. And it secures the weapon well. I use the one that came with my weapons. The other slings may work better for certain applications. But the two point slings have worked for me in Vietnam and as a street cop and asna federal law enforcement officer. Basically as was stated it’s a hoster for your long gun. And I run two point slings on my shotguns as well as on my ar15 and my ar9 carbines. But as stated. It works well for me.
