The Best AR-15 Magazines | Garand Thumb

We have a lot of great options in AR-15 magazines today, but brand does Flannel Daddy use? The dude, reviews a lot of guns and shoots a lot of rounds, so he has some opinions on what the best AR-15 magazines are.

For the M855’s he is saying the Surefeed E2 is the best? Your SKU: OK675-BLK-P , SKU: OK675-TAN-P or SKU: OK675-DFL-P?

can you seat the hk magazine with 30 rounds easily, the slight extension seems like its made for that

  3. Marvin Lawrence on November 22, 2021 at 11:00 pm

I ordered 8 of the Sure Feeds from Okay Industries. I had to file the inside edge of the mag on the exit side. Had to create a 45* bevel on that edge. My rounds would barely catch the leading edge of the bullet casing. With this little mod, they function flawlessly! Just some FYI…

I know this is an older video but I just saw it today. I love Gunmang Warehouse. They aren’t the biggest operation with the fastest processing time, I do realize. However, they have excellent customer service, and I have gotten some of the best deals from them. I don’t normally give positive rants over many companies because I’m a grump ass old man. But they have earned my business for sure. They are now my first "go-to’ for just about any magazine.

I am one the so called "old guys" and have been shooting for 40 years. I won’t and don’t use anything but USGI magazines. The Okay USGI magazines are my top pick and choice. I do have a full box of Colt 20 rounders dated April 1969 that I use on occasion as well.

  9. Adam Collins on November 22, 2021 at 11:12 pm

    No Lancers 🙁

  10. Richard S. McHardy on November 22, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I have a lot of generation 3 Pmags and before I even load any ammo in them I take them apart wipe them down, clean any dust from the production, I take my exacto knife and clean any burrs on the follower and the inside of the magazine lube the spring and put it all back together

  11. Mark Goostree on November 22, 2021 at 11:15 pm

Years ago I bought 8 AR mags (all 30 rnd) and there were two of those H&K mags. I was glad to see them I didn’t even have an AR at the time but 8 mags for $40.00….that was a yes. I will not buy more mags right now. I don’t trust Biden.

  12. oculos prudentium on November 22, 2021 at 11:17 pm

No mention of the Duramags or the Lancer Polymer with the steel lips.
I feel that the Lancer makes the Magpul Pmags obsolete as the steel lips make the problems of the lips being stretched from long-term storage, goes away.

  13. Richard Wolfenbarger on November 22, 2021 at 11:19 pm

Well it looks like I am subscribing. If the government is wondering they’re all 10 round mags.

  14. bikeracerdude on November 22, 2021 at 11:19 pm

*Lancer L5 awm for the win.*

This aged well… buy more…. and more… and more…. Buck Fiden.

  23. Treblaine on November 22, 2021 at 11:30 pm

What about 20 round mags? They rival PMAGS for reliability without the compatibility issues. I think there’s an aversion to 20 rounders because it’s too much like those crippled 10 round mags but this is literally double the capacity of 10-rounder mags.

  24. Paul Secrest on November 22, 2021 at 11:30 pm

So should you leave p mag gen 2s loaded. Or can you.

Have you ever had a garland thumb ?

  28. Joseph Rodrigues on November 22, 2021 at 11:35 pm

I/m running D&H magazines. No issues.

  29. CB1942EO on November 22, 2021 at 11:35 pm

Stay away from anything "pro mag" USGI Magpul gen 3 and lancer mags are good to go. If you have other non AR style firearms that take AR magazines be sure to check the magazine for fit some may not accept anything other than USGI.

  30. 777Zubi on November 22, 2021 at 11:36 pm

What about Lanzer Awm mags ? 👍👎

  31. Magneticitist on November 22, 2021 at 11:37 pm

My brain tells me USGI mags are longer lasting consumables, yet a well made polymer mag can have just as much longevity depending on where/how its used.
I keep a couple aluminum mags but prefer polymer because they feed better, less friction between casing to polymer. When there is enough spring tension and friction the bolt may not ride home hard enough to snap the extractor over the rim for example.

When he put his finger in and out of that magazine I had to rethink my marriage.

  34. Kybrother23 on November 22, 2021 at 11:39 pm

Why are the HK steel mags considered mythical? I have like 5 of them.

  35. Curtis Hatten on November 22, 2021 at 11:43 pm

what type of c mag that wood fit my rock river 308 operator?????????????

  36. saxmusicmail on November 22, 2021 at 11:44 pm

The USGI "green" anti-tilt followers were a HUGE improvement over the earlier black followers, and they seldom have issues if the body is straight. In fact, I have had a handful of USGI mags that the Magpul follower will stick, just not move through smoothly, but the old green follower is fine. Overall, call me old, the Surefeed/Okay mags are my favorites.

  37. Thor Odin on November 22, 2021 at 11:45 pm

    Heat seaking banana clips!!!
But seriously my aero rifles didn’t like the pmags!
Never had a serious issue with metal ones, on occasion I wore the Vietnam era ones out, of course I lost all my rifles in a golf cart accident!? 😋 🤔

Question when you have the army in battle Field and they are reloading the AR’s do they trow away their magazines after a reload or they put them back in their pockets

  40. atranimecs on November 22, 2021 at 11:49 pm

    always steel over aluminummmm

  41. Spud Kai on November 22, 2021 at 11:49 pm

03:29 I bought 40 okay industries surefeed E2 magazines, which are the updated feed lips, stippling addition, and also follower improvement?* But they all came with the gray magpul follower. Okay industries apparently cannot source enough of the blue followers so they went back to the magpul ones for the E2. Just something to note if you purchase them.

  42. paintballplayer700 on November 22, 2021 at 11:50 pm

Third Gen Pmags supposedly also have the correct feed angle for M855A1.

  43. Lester Jones on November 22, 2021 at 11:50 pm

When you have too much girth… get it wet first…. got it…

  44. Sajid Sardar on November 22, 2021 at 11:51 pm

Wow Christian Bale explaining AR-15 magazine 😳

  45. John Raba on November 22, 2021 at 11:52 pm

There is not a lick of difference between Lancer, Magpul, and Okay. I have several of each. Those are the three best in order if I had to pick the top three. None have failed to function flawlessly in my Smith & Wesson M&P 15 sport II. I have used all kinds of different brands of .223. No issues.

  46. Dale Peel on November 22, 2021 at 11:53 pm

I’m having trouble with the mag pull with the new gen 3 mag would not engage in my AR15 it was 40 round mag with plastic window in them

  47. Crash CooterCoot on November 22, 2021 at 11:54 pm

Is the garand thumb discount code no longer valid? I can’t get it to work.
