oh please dude i have my great grandfathers 38 special that he used in ww2. none of us have ever cleaned the spring inside the grip, let alone even take the grips apart. it still shoots like a dream today. its not something that needs cleaning….

Not that this is a bad video, but you didn’t disassemble the entire thing. Change the title to Taurus 66 grip and cylinder removal.

You could purchase guns off ebay if you just buy the pieces individually lmao

I didn’t realize the cylinder release screw on the frame is a 3-part screw, I had a hell of a time finding the spring and screw tip. Thanks for the video it really helped.

Thank you, helped me remove the side plate, side plate screws, yoke screw/retain/spring, apply some blue loctite and re tighten them so they won’t back out. I appreciate it.

I just purchased a used model 66 in stainless and it was clear that the previous owner did not share my belief in keeping firearms clean. This video was great and got me ready to do a thorough cleaning when my gun finally arrives. Thanks

“How to take the grips and cylinder off”

  18. ChicanoStyle on December 5, 2021 at 11:11 pm

Hi great video, thank you. I have the same gun but had a full cylinder of rounds and not able to remove the cylinder because it is stuck. You have any ideas how to remove this safely without discharging the weapon? Hammer will pull back but cylinder won’t turn or pop out. Thank you.

Good god man, could you please take the hunk of shit out of your mouth before you decide to make a video?

  20. glockman1983 on December 5, 2021 at 11:23 pm

Any chance you could do a video on the complete disassembly of the crane assembly?
    Great video sir.

Very helpful. I didn’t know it was important to oil the spring inside the grip, so that is helpful. I also had a loose cylinder and, after watching your video, realized there was one screw a little loose. I tightened that up and the cylinder is snug again. Thanks for posting this video. Definitely helped me.
