The up top cylinder release is also interesting to see. A nice pocket carry M&P S&W 38 Special.

  4. Jonathan Castillo on December 2, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Can you consistently run +P ammo? Please would like to know looking everywhere for this answer

Haters of the slim grip miss the point that it’s for better concealment under clothing. I have the S&W 642 (which is a similar gun) with the CT grip and had a love/hate relationship with it; the larger grip was great for shooting at the range, and the laser helped get on target when I wanted to use it, but it was often a bear to carry concealed without it printing to everyone at Home Depot. I put on the smaller grip to help with concealment and lost real estate for my fingers, making shooting less easy. When I stopped carrying it for edc I put the CT grips back on it and it sits in my safe, but I do occasionally carry it in my jacket if it’s cold out.

This S&W Bodyguard can have its grips replaced by a number of aftermarket grips, some of which can better suit some shooters without giving up concealment. Nice review.

I have the one without the laser, I hated the grip, so I put a Houge grip on it.

Bought it for my wife. I carry it more than she does and love it.

  9. Gary A on December 2, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I think you should check your trigger pull gauge.

There’s a really good deal coming up at Bass Pro for this firearm, I’m heavily considering it for my first carry. Thanks for this review!

  14. Jamie Martin on December 2, 2021 at 10:50 pm

I have this in my pocket. It’s a great CCW. Perfect for summer when wearing shorts

  15. derekdefor on December 2, 2021 at 10:53 pm

Also what are the hex size/sizes for the laser?

  16. NGMonocrom on December 2, 2021 at 10:55 pm

10 or 11 pounds? Looks like that particular example will need a bit of a trigger job. For a DAO S&W, I’d expect 8 or 9 pounds.

  17. Grey Man on December 2, 2021 at 10:57 pm

The 5 chambers are located in the cylinder. I believe you meant to say run a solvent patch through the 5 chambers and also THE BARREL. Cant really run a patch through the cylinder.

  30. LemWoods on December 2, 2021 at 11:15 pm

S&W specifically advises owners in the Safety & Instruction Manual "NOT" top use ultrasonic cleaners for the S&W BG .38. But, at 2:32 you suggest submersing the gun in an ultrasonic bath. Which is correct and why please? Thank you.

  31. Ultimate Dab on December 2, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Love it. Conceal carry revolvers are objectively better than semi autos

  32. Juan Garcia on December 2, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Considering this revolver as my first gun and use it as a car gun. Don’t want nothing to fancy nor expensive. Live in TN so I have the freedom to carry in car with out needing permits

  34. Texas Toast on December 2, 2021 at 11:20 pm

My guess is those are not accurate at all. Esp compared to polymers. Anyone agree ?

  35. uconnapharm on December 2, 2021 at 11:22 pm

    1) What is the purpose of having a PULSE feature ?? 2) The Laser Button works like : 1st push = Laser Constant On , 2nd push = Pulse Laser and 3rd push = Off . I do not see this as proper for defensive / protection use , as after the laser is on , it takes Two pushes of button to turn laser off ( too much time to turn off imo ). I would much rather see ; 1st button push = On and 2nd button push = off

  40. Bob by on December 2, 2021 at 11:31 pm

I wanted to hate this gun and the trigger was great and loved the top latch release

I usually hate dao revolvers but I’d actual buy it and think it has a better action and lock up than the 642
