Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ Review

Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ Review

The Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield EZ is not a pocket pistol and it’s not trying to be one. It’s more in line with the size of the current crop of compact single stack 9mm pistols and even a bit larger than most of those. However, I’m including this review with our Pocket Pistol Series because .380 ACP is generally thought of as a pocket pistol caliber. But that doesn’t have to be the case.

While skeptics will likely see this gun and immediately consider the 380 Shield to be “too big for a .380,” for a great number of shooters, it’s just right. And that very well may include a wider variety of shooters than the ones this gun is primarily being marketed to.

I almost got this gun but I got the walther ccp m2 in .380 instead and I’m glad I didn’t get the s&w

The 380 as I get in to my 60`s works as we as my 9mm that I will pass on to my son.

just procured a brand spanking new one of these for the wife on sunday. she has a serious want for self protection, but she has arthritis and weak hands. this was the one gun she can actually rack and shoot comfortably. i just wish she went with 9 instead of 380. but at least she is armed now.

Beautiful gun. My girl got one on her birthday 🥳

Just fired this gun today and it was a lot of fun 🙂 I’m probably my going to buy one

Is this California legal to the public and not LEO only?

  7. Tony Brannen on November 8, 2021 at 9:50 pm

I have RA and this review is very helpful.

This is perfect for my wife!

Straight and simple to follow facts. Youtubers take notes.

  10. Justin Gibson on November 8, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Shit I wish this was available in CA, I ended up buying a gun I like but my girl doesn’t. And she ain’t gonna want to shoot much if she don’t like the gun.

Excellent choice in wrist watch – The Citizen Eco-Drive. I have a very similar version myself. As for the gun, I’ve just never found the overall S&W M&P semi-autos to be esthetically pleasing (and the Shield is the ugliest of the bunch).

  12. Elias on November 8, 2021 at 9:58 pm

Bruh I hate all this talking like shoot the fuckin gun

  13. Kevin McCarey on November 8, 2021 at 10:00 pm

Thank for your video. I was considering getting into home protection and begin some range visits and be more involved in firearms. You have helped me out with this 380
    Be well
    Be safe

Just picked this up for my wife, I shoot the m&p.40 and she didn’t have the strength to pull back the slide, the .380 ez is easy for her and really boosting her confidence with handling a pistol. So happy with the purchase!

  15. Cedric Jacobs on November 8, 2021 at 10:02 pm

My sister has one. I am so happy that she can protect herself with it!!

  16. Charlie Bourgeois on November 8, 2021 at 10:02 pm

Will be my wife’s first gun. She has arthritis at such a round age and can’t rack anything else. She fell in love with it and the how super easy the safety is on her thumb as well. I think as a first gun, you need a manual safety.

  17. Li1ag on November 8, 2021 at 10:02 pm

This has been the easiest pistol for trigger and the slide. I let my mother try handling this weapon and she easily slid it back with no problem. And she’s pushing 70! It’s a carry for my wife and the only issue we have so far is that you need to put some umph in inserting them mag. Maybe it’s just our own issue

    Junk

  19. Steven Richmond on November 8, 2021 at 10:03 pm

I got this in 9mm after that came out and I cannot recommend it enough

  20. Mike Wasfaret on November 8, 2021 at 10:05 pm

I just bought one because my wrists have arthritis. It hurts to shoot my 1911 45, and I haven’t shot my 44 mag in a long time.

  21. Christina follower of Christ on November 8, 2021 at 10:06 pm

Is the grip considered large? I’m really interested in this pistol but I have small hands. I’ve been trying to find the distance from the trigger to the back of the back strap if anyone has that info please let me know

  22. Will Gibbs on November 8, 2021 at 10:07 pm

I’m a .380 fan…more than enough power for self defense.

  23. DaQuon Leggett on November 8, 2021 at 10:08 pm

    No safety

  24. Smitty on November 8, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I bought mine yesterday and I think this review is spot on. Love it!

  25. Tony Brannen on November 8, 2021 at 10:11 pm

This is a really great review.

  26. 아저씨 on November 8, 2021 at 10:11 pm

I took my Korean wife who has never shot anything in her life to the range to shoot my Springfield xds and she couldn’t do it.

This makes me want to see if she’ll have an easier time at the range and actually be able to get good.

  27. Sharon Crawford on November 8, 2021 at 10:13 pm

54 and just bought my first ever gun and this is what I bought! From the reviews I’m thinking it’s the right choice for me. Had been afraid of guns in the past, now ‘afraid’ not to own one!

  28. His Wife on November 8, 2021 at 10:14 pm

    Just got it 🙂

  29. Str8shooter on November 8, 2021 at 10:15 pm

Also…the gun’s rear sight is adjustable for windage (left and right point of bullet impact) is not found on most 380 pistols!

  30. Steve H. on November 8, 2021 at 10:15 pm

    Hate that word "fanboy".

  31. Artty 1975 on November 8, 2021 at 10:15 pm

I like this guy’s reviews. And he has perfect hair?

  32. Quinton Jewett on November 8, 2021 at 10:16 pm

I’m selling my g2s and buying 2 of these one for my left and one for my right

  33. Charlene Faison on November 8, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Great review. I got this as a gift from my husband. Can’t wait to hit the range with it

  34. Joe West on November 8, 2021 at 10:18 pm

IMO this could be the best carry gun especially for women, that would be DA/SA where the safety is also a decocker but that would be too good to be true.

  35. Brandy Roland on November 8, 2021 at 10:19 pm

I have carpal tunnel and this is my first pistol. I love it !! The only gun in the store that didn’t hurt my hand. Only thing now is finding cheap ammo!!!! They wanted 40$ for a 20 pack!!! That seems like alot to me 🤔

  36. Reagan Forrest on November 8, 2021 at 10:21 pm

    Mhm sure quality ammo
Like Papa Kalash says "If it can’t handle the steel it doesn’t deserve the brass"

  37. Grim Reapz on November 8, 2021 at 10:21 pm

So in other words it’s meant for ladies and old men 🤣🤣🤣

  39. Nikoloz Chkhetiani on November 8, 2021 at 10:22 pm

Which one is better for the new shooter: S&W Shield or Walther CCP M2?

  40. Paul on November 8, 2021 at 10:22 pm

S&W finally came out with a 9mm version, which I bought not long ago. After using snap caps and doing some trigger practice my one complaint is the trigger pinches the finger between it and the frame if you don’t keep your finger low on the trigger. It is so annoying that I had considered selling it. I haven’t actually fired the pistol yet, but I may try to round the frame with an emery board or sandpaper just a tad so it’s not such a sharp pinch between it and the trigger. If that works I’ll probably keep it.

  41. NOLA GospelTracts on November 8, 2021 at 10:23 pm

I was at the range and I couldn’t figure out why that thing wouldn’t shoot. I was scratching my head for about 5 minutes before I realized the safety was on.

  42. Mackie Jin on November 8, 2021 at 10:26 pm

All those real shit are with *cashmain on Wickr* I just got a fucking glock 19x from him

  43. JP Cowboy on November 8, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Been really struggling with what to get my wife. She’s very new to firearms and certainly is not up to my array of .45ACPs and .44 Magnums. I’m actually looking for 3 guns now. A "house gun" for her, a carry gun for her,, and a vest gun for me (looking at the Seecamp .380 for that). I looked at a 1908 Colt Hammerless in .380 for her a I had died them before and me that were dead easy guns to shoot, but also want sure about spending $1’600 on a decent quality one with no accessory rail and garbage sights. After this, I know what I’m getting her, at least for the home.

  44. Ryan Neris on November 8, 2021 at 10:32 pm

"Be sure to feed it with quality 380 ACP ammunition… I’ve had good results with…" = Finicky with ammo?

  45. Dauminator63 on November 8, 2021 at 10:33 pm

Probably one of the safest handguns that will see the most use for self defense. Makes sense why it’s banned in California. SEND HELP

  46. Richard Lacker on November 8, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Due to old age and failing health I recently bought one of these guns, I
like it a lot. However when it arrived in came without any safety.
Does anyone know if it is safe to carry with a round in the chamber with
only the grip safety? I have an inside the waistband holster that is
    very tight.

  47. davy1458 on November 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

I have this gun…the only thing I dont like is the plastic trigger.

  48. Minx M on November 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

I really enjoyed the way it handles. Im in my 60s and enjoys the range. Only issue is ammo shortages and cost per round for this gun

  49. Kayak Fun on November 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Can "380 124gr TMC" ammo be safely used in the M&P 380 Shield EZ pistol?

  50. C A on November 8, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Love this gun! Great for a newbie lady shooter like myself!
