So basically all MRAD scopes are broken down with .2 mills other than the half marks. lol… It was .2 mills all over the place, over and over again…. I read that since Radians doesn’t dissect a circle in exact increments, the military actually uses a different "mrad" standard, by rounding their scale to 6 radians per circle vs the 6.28 that it actually is. Maybe you could do a video explaining the difference

  2. Bodhisattva on November 14, 2021 at 7:22 pm

What happened to MOA? I must be getting old!

  3. judyanddy on November 14, 2021 at 7:23 pm

A lot mistakes on your presentation and give you an example, the number on EBR 7C vertical is the mil for vertical. Good job but you really need to improve yourself to be more professional

  4. Daniel LeClare on November 14, 2021 at 7:24 pm

Reticle bling for Keeners. Looks cool I guess but practically speaking it is useless unless you are using a gun vise to hold steady and maybe not even then.

  5. CK's Antics on November 14, 2021 at 7:27 pm

Very helpful and great breakdown of the types of reticles out there today

  6. Clint A.. on November 14, 2021 at 7:27 pm

@6:21 it looks like you made a mistake.. that should be 3mils in .2mil subs. I’ve never even used a NF scope, but I can see the tree is to aid in the windage and the marks above are saying 3 not 2 mil.

  7. Disfunction Junction on November 14, 2021 at 7:28 pm

😥 My scope only has 2 lines that cross each other. Luckily I am very flukey hunter and almost always get my critter. Hope my luck holds out.

  8. Ron Alves on November 14, 2021 at 7:29 pm

I think I understand what you are talking about, bit have no clue what any of this means in the realm of actually shooting. I did a lot of shooting in the USCG from 1963 until I retired in 1989. I have never used a scope in the military and when hunting I always used open sights, and did well like that, Ron USCG MKC RET

    What is a Mil?

  10. William Storms on November 14, 2021 at 7:30 pm

    So a mil is 3.65 inches @ 100?
I cannot understand how a moa is not a simpler system
For example one moa @ 485 yards is 4.85 inches “practically speaking”
What is one mil @ 485? Maybe I’m just slow 🤷‍♂️

  11. Johnny Wilkinson on November 14, 2021 at 7:30 pm

I have not watched this to the end yet but does he at any point explain what a MIL is?

  12. palmspar on November 14, 2021 at 7:31 pm

On my hawke scope is on 10x zoom one midot 10 cm on 100 meters.
The pellet drop is 50 cm @ 100 meter on my fx wildcat , to hit the target shoot 5 mildots higher.

  13. Jeff Glasman on November 14, 2021 at 7:32 pm

I am 64 Canadian and have never got a grasp om the metric system. And everything is in mil now. Got any tips for that.

  14. ABC XYZ on November 14, 2021 at 7:32 pm

I’d rather take advice from actual warfighters that see combat to know what works and what doesn’t 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

  15. wayne lutterman on November 14, 2021 at 7:34 pm

Mil xt used to project for windage and elevation. Am I right?

  16. Terry Wynne on November 14, 2021 at 7:34 pm

Just a good plain cross hair is all you need for hunting. The rest is just marketing garbage

  17. Riivaside on November 14, 2021 at 7:37 pm

Mr. Billy Leahy is very good instructor is very clear and easy to understand.

  18. Metal Steel on November 14, 2021 at 7:38 pm

i’ve watched this video 3 times already. I am still totally lost. why don’t they have scopes for stupid people?

  19. Steve Dykstra on November 14, 2021 at 7:40 pm

Great video, I personally only use iron sights and my freezer is always full, old school, nice and simple

  20. Steve Austin on November 14, 2021 at 7:41 pm

For PRS matches…do you recommend First Focal or a @nd Focal Plane optics….hoping you go 1st the way I am grasping the PRS curriculum..

  21. Ted Chapple on November 14, 2021 at 7:41 pm

    Good job..

  22. Corey Van Leeuwen on November 14, 2021 at 7:43 pm

When explaining the Mil dot, Would going from the top of dot 1 (.2MM) 1MM spacing to the bottom of dot 2 (.2MM) not be 1.4mm? From bottom to bottom would be 1.2 which is why you have to measure center to center as stated? or did i mis understand something here?

  23. calholli on November 14, 2021 at 7:44 pm

I like the ACSS HUD reticle myself. The fact that you don’t have any ACSS reticles at all hurts my feelings. lol

  24. Cristiano Ricardo de Meira Deliberador on November 14, 2021 at 7:45 pm

I think I need take the most simple fractions system…. Otherwise I might shoot my foot lol I’m kidding!

  25. RandyMan388 on November 14, 2021 at 7:45 pm

    Thanks for the video.
Always a blessing sharpening my skills.
    Best to ya my friend.

    At 100 yds ???

  27. Into Oblivion on November 14, 2021 at 7:53 pm

    👍😎

  28. david burns on November 14, 2021 at 7:54 pm

completely meaningless to a hunter who has to shoot quickly

  29. Vint Guitarz on November 14, 2021 at 7:55 pm

MOA is far more accepted than MILs, which never bothered to explain to the Newbs! Bad video.

  30. TheMrDoliprane on November 14, 2021 at 7:57 pm

This video doesn’t explain anything unless you already understand everything.. you dont even tell what is a mil, what is it for ? is it millimeters ? how do i use it ? You tell it’s a basic course explain the thing as already know how to do it. Bad teacher sorry.

  31. HABIBUL BASHER on November 14, 2021 at 7:57 pm

Any scope would be good for my Diana 56TH air gun pls sir

  32. Clint Beastwood on November 14, 2021 at 7:58 pm

Man,we humans are crazy, all this shit to end a life on the other side of the barrel, amazing

  33. Jack Pronier on November 14, 2021 at 7:58 pm

Does anyone know why the vast majority of Mil optics seems to still adjust in 1/4 MOA increments? I haven’t been able to find any that adjust with just straight forward mils. Would love to find a decent one so I can stick to learning this method

  34. Brian Amuro on November 14, 2021 at 7:58 pm

    Very confusing.

  35. chris glover on November 14, 2021 at 7:58 pm

Good video but your camera man sucks. When he is zoomed in he is should be zoomed out vice versa. When your drawing lines for examples i want to see what your doin

  36. Grant B on November 14, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Guess we just have to assume everyone knows what a "mil" is. In my world, a mil is a thousandth of an inch. Would have thought a video on the "basics" would have included that? Edit: NSSF has a great video to explain all this.

  37. Randy Sneed on November 14, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Excellent vid overview! BTW, there is no ‘LEO’ in Leupold

  38. Tobeysdonutshop on November 14, 2021 at 8:01 pm

On the Nightforce Mil-XT reticle, the first mil dot below the horizontal center is 3 mils wide from the vertical center, not 2 mils as you stated.

  39. Jim Jeanz on November 14, 2021 at 8:01 pm

Athena BPR mil is the best precision reticle I have ever used and have used just about everything out

  40. sam sam on November 14, 2021 at 8:02 pm

i don’t trust reticles or balastic calculator i shoot 3 inches higher at 300 yard after zero it at 100 yard 6.5 creadmoor i adjust 5 moa 143 grain with 2700 fps hornady still shoot 3 inches high

  41. Stanley Spurgeon on November 14, 2021 at 8:06 pm

I just use scopes with standard hunting reticle I don’t need all that dots and dashes know your rifle know your cartridge get close enough to hit your target I do this when I hunt game animals are a lot harder to sneak up on than a human

  42. usernamemykel on November 14, 2021 at 8:06 pm

An explanation of your terminology would have been helpful…

  43. twoninecav on November 14, 2021 at 8:09 pm

I’m not here to be an armchair quarterback.
I just want to complement you on a very well executed block of instruction.

  44. Rick Liebespach on November 14, 2021 at 8:12 pm

Lots of info, but I don’t know what his words mean, and he never explains what they mean…. in other words, if you understand what he is saying, you don’t need to listen to this video….and if you don’t understand him the first time, you probably never will (unless you go somewhere else that will teach you in words you already understand) and for the record, I was born in the USA, I have 2 college degrees, have been shooting (mostly handguns) for 11 years

    Confusing

  46. Steve Duvall on November 14, 2021 at 8:12 pm

Glad I found you or this video it will surely make it easier to explain all this to my grandsons. I have several of these reticles…. Thanks

  47. Ethan Capps on November 14, 2021 at 8:14 pm

Awesome video and I’m super beginner here. But what is a mil?

  48. Tony Romano on November 14, 2021 at 8:14 pm

Tremor3 in the hands of a well trained shooter must be unreal accurate.

  49. POND ERSOA on November 14, 2021 at 8:17 pm

damn …there is sooo much i have to learn …..
