Looks exactly like mine except for the muzzle brake. Mine is chambered in 22-250 with the varminter barrel. Most accurate gun I own.

  2. Norton3139 on October 30, 2021 at 4:23 pm

I’ve killed 3 deer with that gun. They drop like a nuke hit’em

I’ve got maybe a stupid question. I’m going to buy my first hunting rifle. I also have prescription glasses. How does that work with optic sights? Do I shoot with my glasses on or off? What’s a safe distance from scope if shooting with glasses on?

Literally just ordered one of these, then stumbled on this video

  10. Roddo on October 30, 2021 at 4:34 pm

"It IS a single shot so you’re not likely to have a problem with it." -and in that caliber you only need a >single< shot.

  11. gone rydin on October 30, 2021 at 4:36 pm

Awesome weapon. One that I aspire to.

  12. Robert Bryan on October 30, 2021 at 4:38 pm

Most times when hunting you only make one shot. I go out and load 5 rounds in my model 70 but only shoot 1, I shoot more rounds at the range than hunting

  13. Mikey Alexander on October 30, 2021 at 4:39 pm

$1,450 before taxes for A SINGLE SHOT rifle? *I don’t think so* .

  14. DysfunctionalBubble on October 30, 2021 at 4:41 pm

Honestly, if i did buy a gun, it will be a lever action or a single shot. But Maybe i’d buy both.

  15. Margaret Schaff on October 30, 2021 at 4:41 pm

    Yup! Beautiful!

  16. babawest13 babawest13 on October 30, 2021 at 4:41 pm

    Magnifique ! I like!

  17. Daniel LeClare on October 30, 2021 at 4:42 pm

One of the few applications where a rimmed cartridge is better IMO. Laminate stocks are cheap wood.

  18. Franco Gabitan on October 30, 2021 at 4:43 pm

I salute you Sir.. Can you help me to have a gun for self defense.. I need here in the Philippines 🇵🇭

  19. Aaron Wilcox on October 30, 2021 at 4:43 pm

Nice flinch in the open scene.

  20. Jacob Ivy on October 30, 2021 at 4:43 pm

I use a single shot Henry in .45-70 almost exclusively for deer hunting, but I really want a Ruger No. 1. My father-in-law has one, and it is such a gorgeous firearm.

I have a couple of Ruger No 1s. One in 223 with a custom Boyd stock, heavy target barrel, and a match trigger, and other one is exactly like this one. Those are two of my favorite rifles. 🙂

  25. 热天午后 on October 30, 2021 at 4:50 pm

    好玩具

  26. Norman Reppingen on October 30, 2021 at 4:50 pm

I have one in .458 Winchester Magnum. It delivers experiences. A blast on the range. And a sweet shooter with reloads which are loaded a good tad lighter.

  27. The Feathered frontiersman on October 30, 2021 at 4:51 pm

I have a special place in my heart, shoulder, thumb and right index finger for the hinge action rifle/shotgun.
I grew up on these. And I’ve owned many different combo and calibers.
Ruger 1 is a gorgeous rifle. But I still wouldn’t because of the price and ejection/ breech load.
To me a critical role in the single shot is that in 2 minutes you can load it into a backpack. And it hinges with an external hammer.
They are extremely accurate, functional and simple. Usually very light weight too. And most of them cost less than 300$.
Don’t waste ammo and opportunity. Focus and hit your 1 shot.
The closest I’ve owned to this one was the new England handy rifle 45/70 government. One of my all time favorites.
If you have never owned a single shot, go get one! You absolutely won’t regret it. It will probably be the most reliable in your collection.

  30. ACTO Guns on October 30, 2021 at 4:55 pm

I was fortunate enough to be the FFL that received and transferred that No 1 to the auction winner. What a beautiful work of weaponry.

  31. BOB+RAYGUN+PIPE=X-DAY(1995) on October 30, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Hornady makes some of the best .450 bm ammo. Even some new 395gr subsonic!

  32. IvanFletcher on October 30, 2021 at 4:55 pm

This is probably the toughest rifle ever.

  33. Fabrizió Cerutti on October 30, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Me ha gustado muchos tus armas de tiro.

  34. Ron Laduke on October 30, 2021 at 4:56 pm

Buddy of mine has owned a couple of Browning falling block rifles, have shot them a bit but have never owned one. The only real advantage they have is the short overall length but I have always liked them and would be happy to own one.

  35. Ruger Vaughn on October 30, 2021 at 4:57 pm

It’s a beautiful gun that has my name on it

  36. Jayne Derp on October 30, 2021 at 4:58 pm

I don’t know about the 450 bushmaster, but the socom cartridges are pretty damn reliable in a standard old AR with a heavy buffer, I can’t imagine Bushmaster being much different. But I cant say for sure.

  37. Shaun Sian on October 30, 2021 at 4:59 pm

I love single shot rifles well built and last a life time

  38. robert onesios on October 30, 2021 at 4:59 pm

  39. Slick Slicers on October 30, 2021 at 5:00 pm

Nice rifle, preferred the other one you showed a few years back – 375H&H.

  40. 3VO on October 30, 2021 at 5:03 pm

A sportsman always shoots thinking THE shot will do the job cleanly. Doesn’t matter if his gun a single shot or semi auto.
Running a single shot does not change how one shoots. Just speed of reloading LOL
Rugers are kinda Rube Goldberg inside, so no they are not simplistic.

The best word for a single shot like a Ruger #1…………..is "elegant".
BTW, the rings suck. Extension rings are ugly, but using one at the rear may be tolerated. Better would be an EGW rib w crossbolt rings (more positions). But they are not exactly pretty.

Ruger rings are not cut to center, the top halves go past center, and can scratch the heck out of a scope. They also may not be cut to same per set, so ring gap after scope install may not be even. You can dress ring halves as needed to increase gap.

Shame, such nice rifles…….and a half arsed rib/ring system. Been shooting em off and on for 40 years. And now being an old fart, I just can’t stand the ring system. Next Ruger will be a custom build. Eh, its only money.

  47. Randy Johnson on October 30, 2021 at 5:14 pm

    That’s a good looking rifle

  48. Thomas Chase on October 30, 2021 at 5:14 pm

Must be a low profile scope mount

  49. Randy Johnson on October 30, 2021 at 5:15 pm

I have been single shooting and hunting for 25 years.i have gone with encore.i shoot center fire rifle and muzzle with encore.i also have 25 years experience with encore 50 caliber muzzle loader pistols. And of course encore center fire pistols. When I was younger I didn’t think it was practical to hunt with a single shot rifle. I would rather hunt with my BAR semiautomatic rifles. But I realized that a single shot pistol or rifle is more for a professional type hunter. I hunt consistently with my encore rifles.

  50. John Hojnowski on October 30, 2021 at 5:19 pm

Henry has a single shot now in 450 bushmaster and 350 legend
Also you can have barrels made for the Thompson Center Encore in 450 bushmaster or 350 legend
What I like about the Thompson center is that you can make it a rifle or a pistol you can SBR it and then it won’t matter if you use pistol barrels or rifle barrels
