Rossi Rifle Combo 243 22LR 20 Gauge

Rossi Rifle Combo 243 22LR 20 Gauge

A quick review of the Rossi Trifecta rifle combo that comes with a .243 Winchester barrel, a .22 Long Rifle barrel and a 20 Gauge barrel. Well made and shoots very accurately although heavy. I get very good groups and will shoot another video tomorrow shooting the .243 and the .22LR barrels. I’ve read mixed reviews about the rifle but this one is good so I guess maybe they’ve improved or quality control is inconsistent. Anyway I have all good things to say from my experience and will likely order other barrel calibers. God bless you.

Dang. I guess ATI makes their stock so it fits any of the frames, but the barrel to frame fit is another matter. Maybe a gunsmith could get the various barrels to fit the frames without too much expense. Sure would be nice.

Thanks! In 2016 I hope to be standing for Rand Paul and Andrew Napolitano as a ticket…..that would be the dream team!

I just got tyhe matched pair in full size and love them. Mine is .243 and 20ga. Perfect little bug out gun, fun hunter, and fun to shoot skeet and such. Great review.

I just bought another one of these Rossi Wizard .223 Rifles from Kentucky Gun Company for $87.99 with free shipping. They say this is a Blem gun but I will be damned if I can find any blemishes on this rifle, it looks new. I am looking forward to taking it out to the range. This one has a wood stock & fiber optic sights. For $87.99 for a high powered .223 rifle, how do you beat that?

  6. AV8907 on November 9, 2021 at 9:32 pm

Thank you so much and thanks for the quick reply! Sorry for not being specific on what it was I was looking for. I have been looking for a low power scope for my Rossi .22 for a while now.

  7. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 9:33 pm

The front screw mount is firmly welded to the barrel and appears to be very well made. Thanks for the comment.

  8. Kevin Kenyon on November 9, 2021 at 9:34 pm

Bought that for my wife I use it more
You remind of Guiarmo on Jimmy Kimmel . Bought a 357 magnum insert for the 20 gauge barrel .

  9. Cthulhublanca on November 9, 2021 at 9:34 pm

You can see you really got me fixated on the Rossi guns with this video. Comment 6 days ago was supposed to ask if maybe youth and adult models "don’t" interchange, and website at aatigunstocks confirms this. They have a nice collapsible aftermaket stock for $60, but forend specifically does not fit youth models. Obviously does not fit W / Wizard models either.

I took it out again with the pro-hunters and found a load that pretty much almost touches the lands of the rifling but gives 2750 fps with a 100 gr. Sierra Pro Hunter and I managed to get a 2" group for 5-shots at 100 yards. Not so hot for a target rifle but OK for an emergency high power rifle in a pinch and actually, decent hunting accuracy out to around 200 yards I suppose. Mine is strictly a handloading proposition though. Great trigger and .22 accuracy is fantastic. So that’s my report.

Good video, those are some nice sights,,Ron Paul, hell yea,,I just subbed

Careful, I bought one of these recently from Academy and it was a complete bust. Soft strikes on the 20GA/.22. Multiple cleanings, different ammo, same results. The .243 would not hold a group. We thought it was the nut on the handle, so we put it in the lead sled. Nope, some ammo better than others, but unpredictable.

  13. iam1inamil on November 9, 2021 at 9:42 pm

i also wonder if the front screw mount [on the barrel itself] ,is of dependable quality?
…maybe ask a gunsmith to look at it so you can have no surprises in the future?

  14. Medmann48 on November 9, 2021 at 9:43 pm

My Rossi Wizard .223 doesn’t have a hammer problem but it simply will not extract steel case ammo namely Tulammo but it will extract brass case ammo. Anybody else have a problem with this & if so what is the fix? Just shoot brass shells. The Tulammo .223 shell casings just jam in the chamber & I have to knock out the empty shell with a steel rod.

  15. Newtire on November 9, 2021 at 9:45 pm

I was impressed by the amount of gun you get for the price so bought one. Shotgun and .22 barrel work great but you have to alter the 92a Weaver base to make it fit. Also, the .243 barrel has so long of a throat that you have to seat the bullets out to where you have only about 6mm of bullet still in the case. Normal length ammo won’t hit a 2 foot target at 100 yds. Varmint or Cast bullets are not doable. I am experimenting with bullets and Sierra Pro Hunter 100 gr.seem to fit. 3" groups.

  16. Cthulhublanca on November 9, 2021 at 9:46 pm

Sir. Just thought of something. The trifecta set above is the "youth" model. I believe the matched pair you mentioned was the adult size. Is it possible the youth models interchange and the adult models interchange?

  17. Yak's Feathers & Fur on November 9, 2021 at 9:46 pm

hello if you take the back but stock off there is a weighted rod just chilling in there. lol take it out.

  18. Newtire on November 9, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Tried to get Rossi to help with the defective .243 barrel but they gave me a song and dance about not honoring a warranty as their warranty is only good for one year, I bought it used so warranty is off, I shot handloads in it so voided the warranty. Many people out there have had bad luck with the .243 barrel so my guess is that they made more than just a few bad ones but their customer service department is very poor. I guess they don’t care once you are stuck with one of their lemons.

  23. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 9:51 pm

I don’t know why they don’t standardize more, I think the Wizard frame is nice, it’s the shoulder stock that I can’t get past – the stock is ugly as sin.

  24. Cthulhublanca on November 9, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Seems foolish unless they are trying to push Wizard sales to the exclusion of everything else. I usually let form follow function, and if it works then I’m OK with how it looks, but the Wizard frame is too darned ugly.

  25. Fireworxs2012 on November 9, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Cheap Plastic Crap…..I"ve fired several of these combos and I have yet to find one that can shoot a group under 10 inches @ 100 yards…The .22 isn’t any better…Plus the ejector spring hangs up leaving the spent case in the chamber for you to pry out.  Rossi, Taurus, Same cheap garbage they’ve been selling for years.

  26. Cthulhublanca on November 9, 2021 at 9:52 pm

FANTASTIC video. Looking forward to checking out some of your others.
BTW, have you found the barrels are interchangeable between Rossi rifles, or do they need to be fitted to each receiver? Some of the rifles on Rossi’s page look like they have bull barrels.

  27. AV8907 on November 9, 2021 at 9:58 pm

What is the name of the scope you have? I have been looking everywhere for one!

  28. Michael Taylor on November 9, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Well done! You are the first Youtuber to show and explain how a center fire rifle works with a rimfire cartridge.

  29. Scott Schultz on November 9, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Hell yeah Ron Paul for president

  30. Cthulhublanca on November 9, 2021 at 10:00 pm

Absolutely. Handgrip area looks like a limp p- … well it looks limp anyway. I think they were trying to imitate the Thompson Rifles and it went all bad.

  31. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 10:03 pm

None of the Rossi barrels fit each other frames regardless if they are for youth or adults. The only rifle that Rossi makes with fully interchangeable barrels is the Wizard. My nine year old son used his Rossi .22LR single shot rifle this weekend to shoot three rabbits, offhand from the standing position, those little rifles are very accurate. He hasn’t wanted to use the .410 gauge barrel yet, but when he does, he is going to love it. Thanks

  32. Fell Man on November 9, 2021 at 10:05 pm

Are there such things as combination guns that come with ammo magazines? Ones that are divided into sections for the different ammo? Are such guns even possible?

  33. Blue Collar Boys on November 9, 2021 at 10:06 pm

    Weaver Model 92a?

  34. naturebc on November 9, 2021 at 10:06 pm

That’s not a combo gun. Just replaceable barrels.

  35. 5thHorsemanofNAE on November 9, 2021 at 10:07 pm

    yeah.

  36. Blue Collar Boys on November 9, 2021 at 10:08 pm

What scope mount are you using?

  37. iam1inamil on November 9, 2021 at 10:09 pm

hopefully the 20 gauge is modified or full choke…..i wonder if a slug would mess up a full choke

  38. Medmann48 on November 9, 2021 at 10:09 pm

I just pulled the trigger & ordered the Rossi R223HBS full size rifle for $159.00 with Free Shipping, no tax & no credit card fees, how do you beat that? I was going to buy the Rossi .243 rifle but that ammo is damn expensive like $15 to $35 for 20 rounds. I can get Tulammo .223 from Walmart for $5.39 a box all day long.

  41. ENTERPRISE1942 on November 9, 2021 at 10:15 pm

yes they do, I have the Pick-4 in. 22LR / 410. shotgun / 20 gauge shotgun / and 243. Winchester for about $350, but I am looking to sell or trade it, im in ohio, PM if interested.

  42. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 10:16 pm

    Hmm, didn’t know that. Thanks

  43. PokerMan on November 9, 2021 at 10:18 pm

is the stock the only difference between full size and youth?

  44. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 10:19 pm

The .22 barrel which is the first one in the video has a Simmons 8-Point 3-9×40 scope, the scope on the .243 barrel is a great Simmons 44 Mag 4-12×44 scope with a Trueplex reticle and rangefinder. Both are very good scopes – I have learned that the price and quality of Simmons, Bushnell & Tasco are exceptional. All my scopes are a mix of those three except for a single Nikon scope I have.

  45. USA Design on November 9, 2021 at 10:23 pm

ron paul for president?! YOU SIR ARE THE MAN

  46. econewpower on November 9, 2021 at 10:24 pm

The barrels are not interchangeable unless you are using the Wizard frame. The frame and barrels for the various other matched pairs or trifectas don’t fit each other. I had purchased a Rossi single shot in .223 and that barrel would not fit the trifecta nor the trifecta barrels fit on that gun either. I don’t know why they wouldn’t standardize their barrel in the other frames. Thanks

  47. donnie inman on November 9, 2021 at 10:25 pm

Im from spartanburg sc usa i have the 22 cal. But i need 20gauge andthe237 barral does anyone know where i can get it

  48. mrat ratlin on November 9, 2021 at 10:26 pm

good little guns! my 7 year old killed a 8 point at over 400 yards with the 243 cal loaded with 100 grain Winchester power points. I set all my deer rifles 3in high at 100 yards so they will be dead on at 400 -1000 yards using a Simmons Deerfield scope . my 7 year old can group his shots at 200 yards that you can cover all of them with a quarter . as far as the guys comment below @ fireworxs2012 he ether cant shoot or don’t know how to set a scope!
