Not what I would describe as painful. Uncomfortable maybe. I did not really test the accuracy. I would guess acceptable though based on my shooting it.
I just bought this as my first gun yesterday and I’m really excited to test it out this weekend!! It looks fun to fire
I have shot this since this question. This is my "car gun", and it seems to do the job well. I shoot special when practicing, which is not harsh at all. I load with special to begin and finish with mag when I carry it. I chose this for the simplicity, concealability, and the it’s ability to shoot through my car door in a carjack situation if needed, and still have knock down power after going through.
I picked up one of these on black Friday, but haven’t gotten a chance to shoot it yet. Does it hurt too bad to shoot? How is accuracy?
Likely a good choice for such use Dave! Pretty tight but powerful package.
check out ebay item 170637701847 barsony black leather holster for taurus 17 617 817 that is what I bought and it works great….
With a 5 shot cylinder, I wonder if a K frame s&w holster would work. I just got the Rossi in a trade so I’ll see if I can find one and report back.
I bought one last week I have a fused wrist from a fall off a ladder about 8 yr ago so I was a little worried about recoil. It was not a problem though. Mine is very accurate out to about 50 ft. I was shooting the Hornady 240 grain "flying ashtrays" and they did great.I thought it would have been better with the 3 in barrel, but after shooting it I kinda like the 2 in just fine. I bought mine at the local Academy store. This makes the 3rd firearm I have bought from them. They have all been great.
I have been shooting for years. This was my first .44 Magnum. Honestly, there was a bit of pain associated with firing this weapon. Not much, but some pain in the hand. Regarding accuracy, this first range session was fairly short. We were both able to hit the bad guy near center mass. I would say accuracy was good. Now, even if you miss though, the bad guy target on the next lane was blown all over the place as well as ours! Thanks for the inquiry.
The accuracy is not going to be as good as what it would be if it had a longer barrel, that’s a given. But it’ll do the job at close range, that’s what counts. The grips really make this gun! I’d hate trying to shoot this with plain wood grips. Yes, it’s a bit of a bear to handle if you’re shooting magnum rounds, but it should be a snap with .44 Specials. I just bought mine today and ran a few rounds through it this evening. I also have owned 3 other .44 magnum revolvers, 1 of which I still own.
The grip on this one is an engineering miracle. If it were not for this grip I probably would have to fire lite .44 specials. That kinda defeats the purpose. The main reason I bought it was for bear defence. I grew up in WVa. The mining cos. there have to reclaim and restore their land back to original flora and fawna.if my car quits at the wrong place I could end up having to walk 10-15 mi.at night. I will be 60 in a few months and my better bear fighting with a knife days have passed me by.
HAVE ONE SHOOTS LIKE A DREAM. JUST KEEP A GOOD GRIP AND NO PROBLEMS. FOR THE MONEY CAN’T BEAT IT. I HAVE SEVERAL 44 MAG. THIS NOT MY BEST BUT FOR TRUCK OR CAR OR HOUSE GUN CAN NOT BEAT IT.
