Range Report: FN FNP-9

Range Report: FN FNP-9

In this Range Report I get a chance to try out the FNP9 by FN. Is this is a hammer fired duty pistol that FN made between 2006 and 2011. While they now focus exclusively on striker fired pistols, these hammer fired guns were known for reliability, high quality, and accuracy. This range report documents my experience with this pistol that I never had a chance to shoot until now.

Does Jack own Davidson’s? Very nice looking gun. Growing up on a Sig P229, I prefer the decocker only arrangement. My instructor taught me that the safety is between your ears. 🙂

Omg I had 2 of those in black and fde I used for IPSC training. Mine did have decocker/safety. Great gun overall but I had a couple of gripes. For a hammer fired gun I found the trigger break was spongy on SA. Pencil barrel made the slide get way hot with repetitive shooting. Magazine base plates pop off if dropped on hard surface like concrete (base plate, spring, mag body, and bullets if any left go flying everywhere). Accurate and reliable but ended up selling one and going back to a G19 for IPSC. I gave the other one to my dad for his home defense but if I remember they are 15rd capacity.

Sweet! She’s an older model but, still good. Lol. This is one of the FN pistols I don’t currently own. I like the look of the grip. Pretty cool look overall. I’ve never seen one on the wild.

FN still offers the FNX9 and FNX45 on their website I really like my FNX40 but it seems FN has abandoned that caliber. You’re right about the this being the predecessor to the 509. They’ve kept the grip angle the same while improving the texture, These guns are really modern versions of the Browning hi power..

FN has the FNX 9 currently which looks just like that and it is hammer fired 9mm. I have the FNX 9 in SS slide black polymer frame. So I am confused how this being then predecessor to the 509.
