Here is a look at the Radical Firearms 10.5″ RF-15, chambered in 7.62×39. A handy little pistol that brings the AK round to the AR-15 ergonomics.

After a rough start with the RF-15, having to send it back twice for light primer strikes, it eventually got ironed out. I believe they initially replaced the firing pin and then replaced the hammer spring with something stronger. At any rate, it eventually came back and works great now.

I shot the little pistol at a Runenation Level 1 Carbine course as well as other range outings. For the course I topped the gun with PEAK Iron Sights by Scalarworks, Slate Black Industries Slate Grips and swapped the SBA3 Brace for a SBA4 by SB Tactical. Because I like shooting suppressed, I cut part of the rail off to make room for the numerous cans I eventually tried on it, to include the Liberty Infinity X and the Q Full Nelson. I will say it is a fun gun to shoot.

So, the primary issue was the firing pin was too short? Thats a really easy fix.

  2. Kenneth Rand on November 18, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Enhanced firing pin! I have built 9 AR-47’s and have never had a light strike issue get an enhanced firing pin to run surplus ammo

Texans are having way too much fun in the snow with their rifles

  4. Cole Dedhand on November 18, 2021 at 10:50 pm

The fact that it didn’t work out of the box doesn’t surprise me. Radical is shit-tier.

    Nice

7.62×39 ars are bae . I prefer them to use ak mags but if the 20rnders are reliable im game.

  7. Donny Parrott on November 18, 2021 at 10:53 pm

I have two of the RF 7.62x39s – one 10 and one 16. Both have run like a top since day one.

Mods so far – enhanced firing pin (insurance, not required), CPD Duramags, H2 buffer (personal preference), PSA 3.5 trigger.

This channel should have more subs! Love the no nonsense, not selling approach of everything… Just the facts! 👏😉

are the iron sights stock? if not what are they?

  12. ToneM on November 18, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I have the same sling, I do like it

  13. Matt L on November 18, 2021 at 11:04 pm

I always paint mags only up to where they disappear into the mag well for this exact reason!

Unless it’s an ak mag, then it doesn’t matter because it’s already trash

  14. JustRyan on November 18, 2021 at 11:06 pm

That’s…a pistol?!?! Im guessing a machine gun, M240B, would be an assault rifle?

  15. secpac58chichi on November 18, 2021 at 11:06 pm

if you want to run a suppressor – would recommend .300 BO subsonic

  16. Noah Scheffler on November 18, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Imagine this guy during a firefight, he’d get the enemy to fall asleep just from his voice 😂

I got that sling for christmas… it’s JUNK. My clips broke

  19. william nicholson on November 18, 2021 at 11:11 pm

Enhanced firing pin is a neccessity for 7.62×39

  20. Smedley Butler on November 18, 2021 at 11:14 pm

    I set out to build a 7.62 x 39 AR-15 after seeing a Facebook post by Sons of Liberty Gun Works telling people they didn’t want a 7.62 x 39 AR-15, here’s the problem I didn’t want one until I saw that meme 🤣
So, I built one exclusively using SOLGW components and parts except for the barrel, bolt, and muzzle device, as well as sourcing some items they normally sel, but through other sources when they were out of stock.
I used a 10.5” barrel and matching bolt from Faxon and an FCD 6310 KM muzzle device.
Things I learned along the way with this build were:
1: Faxon barrels QC SUCKS. I went through three barrels before I got a good one.
2: The 20 round C-Products Dura Mags are the only way to go in this caliber.
    The thing runs.

I had a question about the Kinetic Development Mlok Rail that you used during your class. How did it hold up? Was considering using one to hold a surefire scout and have the ability to swap between multiple mlok firearms

  22. HessianForHire on November 18, 2021 at 11:16 pm

For a budget company shooting a far from precision cartridge that’s really good accuracy.

As always, an excellent video with excellent content! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 As I watch your videos I can’t help but get the feeling that you were an NCO that we would have followed because you made us better.

  25. MyLonewolf25 on November 18, 2021 at 11:23 pm

How’s the reliability on it with mags?
I’ve never heard good things about reliability with x39 I’m ar-15s with 30s at least.

  26. bmxdude1337 on November 18, 2021 at 11:23 pm

I love x39 such a fun caliber. If only ammo wasn’t so non existent I’d be out training every weekend

  27. dotheymakethatformen on November 18, 2021 at 11:24 pm

Thanks for the review, Ivan! I just ordered a radical arms upper, along with the upgraded spring and enhanced firing pin and CPD mags. Your review made me comfortable ordering from them. Nice Army cammo, devil 😂😂

    thanks

  29. Dan P on November 18, 2021 at 11:24 pm

Zaviar firearms, a newer company, makes an awesome 7.62x39mm AR. Never had any issues. Fun and accurate

  30. bluesbondsman on November 18, 2021 at 11:24 pm

I just built a 7.62×39 and a 5.56 side charger from Bear Creek Arsenal.
As of now the BCA 7.62 uppers all come with the new enhanced firing pin.
A ton of fun for very little cash !
I have both ASC and Duramags , hopefully Ammo keeps coming down in price so I can prove them both out !
I have built a few rifles using BCA uppers without a single issue so…
For those who don’t want to invest multiple mortgage payments and still enjoy the AR platform, check them out.

  31. scott2228 on November 18, 2021 at 11:25 pm

Been toying w a 7.62×39 upper only. Bc I have way too many AR lowers and know nothing about the AK platform. 🤷‍♂️ just not sure if all the kinks are worked out.

  32. Dan on November 18, 2021 at 11:25 pm

Many gun manufacturers that make 7.62X39 AR’s use an ‘enhanced’ firing pin. It’s a touch longer than the original. Mine came as standard equipment on my Windham Weaponry AR. Also I beef up the hammer power with a Hiperfire trigger. It has a special 7.62X39 double cam-over spring set. The hard primer problem is solved. I never had a failure after that.

  33. jodi jensen on November 18, 2021 at 11:25 pm

What range did you sight it in at? With my 16 inch 7.62.39 25 yards is 200 yards. This is why I was wondering the sight in for your pistol as I have one also with a 10.5 inch barrel. I plan to use it for deer hunting and was thinking 200 yards and in.

  34. Data Lighter on November 18, 2021 at 11:25 pm

It would be highly insightful to see your thoughts & comparison against this with CMMG MK47 Mutant.

  35. Bill 6920 on November 18, 2021 at 11:27 pm

Two questions are the mags proprietary and how many rounds. You always have interesting content I really liked your 50 yard zero at 10 yards and the follow up video can you do more on zeroing a new rifle with irons.

  36. Richard on November 18, 2021 at 11:30 pm

Thanks for the video, always well done. This confirmed what I knew before this video: I have zero plans to buy a Radical.

  37. Andre Sullivan on November 18, 2021 at 11:30 pm

What’s the name of that tripod

  38. The Architect on November 18, 2021 at 11:33 pm

It’s an ARAK. Spray paint clumps in the release wells on mags. Those little slots fill up with sticky paint.
Mask off them mags with a little extra room for smooth operations
Overall your groupings average but with the cold i think it’s very good.
Not a fan of budget AR’s and attempts at a hybrid ARAK even more skeptical.

  39. TheThoover on November 18, 2021 at 11:33 pm

hello, can you tell me if you can install a AR15 5.56 barrel and bolt to a 7.62 barrel and bolt?
I have both barrel/bolt and if it is possible, I would not have to purchase another gun
    thanks for the videos

  40. MrHarrilasagna on November 18, 2021 at 11:35 pm

Third times the charm I guess. 🤜🤛

  41. Angus Oldwolf on November 18, 2021 at 11:36 pm

I love the fact that you just said screw it and cut the handguard. Most people would get super cringe over that.

  42. jon hurley on November 18, 2021 at 11:37 pm

I was thinking of building a similar rifle but with that kind of grouping I’ll just stick with ak47 fir 7.62×39.

  43. Halfdollar 86 on November 18, 2021 at 11:38 pm

I bought a rifle version of this back in 2016-2017ish. It was surprisingly reliable. I never had a single issue out of it and was 100% reliable. I ran ASC and C products mags. At this time frame you could get ARs really cheap. The smith and Wesson M&P 15 sport 2 tanked in price and a store traded me one even for my Radical 7.62×39. I’m now considering getting another 7.62×39 AR

  44. Matt Starr on November 18, 2021 at 11:38 pm

    That gun looks sick

  45. Victor Slowik on November 18, 2021 at 11:39 pm

Greetings from Texas, just get a wasr 10, from 2012-up. You can’t beat an Ak, unless your an Ak!

  46. Pedro on November 18, 2021 at 11:40 pm

Do you know what final repairs they implemented ? Looks rad.

  47. Hunter Gardner on November 18, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Got mine about 4 months ago, had tons of issues with magazine feed but i fixed that with some tweaks. I definitely recommend this gun.. sucks though because most of you will never get it. After I got mine I wanted to get another and they’ve been out of stock ever since.
    Happy shooting!

  48. TheyCallMeCorona on November 18, 2021 at 11:43 pm

How come you never run AKs?

  49. DerekDanielDurbin on November 18, 2021 at 11:43 pm

What trigger do you guys recommend? I heard him say geisslie but couldn’t make out what he said I want it for my Noveske Shorty gen 4

I just built this AR15 pistol in (7.62×39) let me know what you think …..She shoots amazing for real……zero light primer strikes and shoots any Russian and Chinese ammo…… https://youtu.be/fOVqb87FeBw
