ProMag Steel Reinforced AK-47 Magazine and 50 Round Drum Test & Review (Epic Fail?)

I do some shooting with the new steel reinforced ProMag AKSL-30 AK-47 magazine and the new DRM-A9 50 round steel reinforced AK drum magazine. I do some drop/torture testing with them, and let you know what I think of them overall 👍🏾

Wonder if he wound the drum mag up too much, creating too much tension.
Well glad I bought the all metal bodied Red Army, 75 round drum and not this 50 round drum.
Haven’t seen a whole lot of issues with them, other then perhaps the occasional jamming.

An as for the drop test with the 30 round mag, an the metal lining. I suppose that is also a drawback in the all metal "traditional AK magazines," that you won’t have with the poly made magazines. Which I have a bunch of old school metal mags, because I prefer the non tactical look on a traditional wooden furnitured AK model.
But if you’re firing from a concreted area, an need to drop a mag on the ground or if fumbling it quickly on the fly. It’s probably a situation where it’s worth the 15 to 20$ loss lol.

Since everyones shitting on promags just send them all to me, I’ve never had a problem with them

  4. black87FXR on November 30, 2021 at 7:59 pm

The drum mag only functions in the Zastava zpap

  5. Tula1940 LB on November 30, 2021 at 8:00 pm

How to turn an AK into a higher capacity bolt action!

  6. Mark Rosen on November 30, 2021 at 8:02 pm

What is a good reliable drum for the ak47?

  7. NicholasRidiculous on November 30, 2021 at 8:03 pm

Only ProMag magazine’s I’ve bought/used were 10 round 1911 steel magazine’s. They work flawless and fit snug in Springfield 1911 A1. I can imagine how the polymer game could be much tougher though.

  8. Tyler McKinnon on November 30, 2021 at 8:03 pm

One more guy duped by promag. $70 charitable donation to Promag. I’m gonna write it off on my taxes.

  9. THOR KILL on November 30, 2021 at 8:04 pm

It is plastic so it will break. Any fire arm magazine or drum needs to be made of steel.

  10. E A O on November 30, 2021 at 8:06 pm

10/29 – Still have the same issues with the drum magazine it wont feed but a round. Eexact same issues in 4 different AKs — too bad i really liked the quaility and built of the drum mag.

  11. Jonathan Beddard on November 30, 2021 at 8:07 pm

I just purchased a 50 round pro mag drum & I also have a PSAK 47 and it would not work…this drum is horrible!

  12. Christopher Lambert on November 30, 2021 at 8:08 pm

Damn promag…my wife bought the 50 round drum for me as a present…i already was skeptical that it would work smooth but i wanted to be nice ans atleast try it out..it supposed to come with a loader..mine did not..also im a lil embarrassed to admit i dont even know how to load it..im used to the old steel drums and this shit has no instructions or anything..and i cant find a video or anything on how to load it..fuckin promag pisses me off

  13. Manny on November 30, 2021 at 8:11 pm

Accident bought a 50 round 9mm pro mag I ended up just giving up on loading. thank god I never got the chance for it to jam on me.

  14. Mike D on November 30, 2021 at 8:11 pm

The PROMAG 50 round drum is absolute garbage, bought it at gunmagwarehouse.com, and had the same problem this guy had, no cycling. In fact racking the first round was forced as the bolt hung up. Total waste of money and I could not return it.

  15. Balisong Time on November 30, 2021 at 8:13 pm

Watching this and looking back at the 3 30rd mags I bought with massive regret.

  16. Todd on November 30, 2021 at 8:13 pm

They really need to fold up tents and walk away why people keep buying from a garbage company kills me if we all did not buy their product they would be done end of story please don’t let friends buy Promag!

  17. Jonathan Beddard on November 30, 2021 at 8:15 pm

I wish I would have seen this video and comments before I purchased that 50rd piece of dung..smh

  18. Matthew Keyes on November 30, 2021 at 8:16 pm

Maybe a one off, but took a chance & the Drum mag has locked up tight, fed brass & lacquered ammo w/o issue in M92.pleasantly surprised

  19. Doc Holliday on November 30, 2021 at 8:17 pm

Yikes. Just bought a couple promags for my Saiga. Kinda wishing I did my usual due diligence on YouTube first. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  20. MaddAntt77 on November 30, 2021 at 8:17 pm

Well, it is definitely is win for Magpul Gen 2, but I certainly aint trading in any Bulgie Circle 10’s based on Magpul’s assertion about steel in the feed lips

  21. SuperKinganthony on November 30, 2021 at 8:18 pm

You got to love that the ak fires with a broken mag.

  22. HYDRA DYNAMIC on November 30, 2021 at 8:18 pm

What do ProMags and Hi-Points have in common?

  23. HYDRA DYNAMIC on November 30, 2021 at 8:18 pm

I want to say bad things about ProMag magazines, but every commenter already covered my thoughts on the matter….!

  24. Carmine Falcone on November 30, 2021 at 8:21 pm

Had a hot round in that chamber

  25. Marc Morgan on November 30, 2021 at 8:22 pm

My first and worst ak an i o came with a promag 😂😂

  26. John Hall on November 30, 2021 at 8:24 pm

Just got the 50 round drum and it does the exact thing

  27. Jimmy Withers on November 30, 2021 at 8:26 pm

I bought the drum and a 30 rounder to me junk doesn’t work in my wasr10 I’m going sale the crap if they will take it back and get my money back

  28. Eric Eckert on November 30, 2021 at 8:28 pm

You totally should buy the new Xtech Ak-47 polymer, steel reniforced, bolt hold open magazines and do a review. And they are made in my state of AZ! Super tough mag!!! They finally beat the Bulgarian circle 10 mags and good price too!

  29. dsclaiborne31 on November 30, 2021 at 8:29 pm

    Pure shit as expected

  30. Matthew Keyes on November 30, 2021 at 8:30 pm

For a budget drum, Any value ?

  31. wayne'z Games on November 30, 2021 at 8:31 pm

I have the same drum mag. It’s trash. Looks cool but that’s all. Buy American.. not again. Gotta buy foreign mags. Made in the USA means it’s trash. That’s just my opinion…

  32. Jimmy Withers on November 30, 2021 at 8:33 pm

I wouldn’t recommend that crap to the poor’s guy with. The ak

  33. Ameer Zackery on November 30, 2021 at 8:37 pm

From what I have always seen. ProMag has always been scary bad. Before I started getting into guns. I always heard people saying "PMags are great" or "Pmags are trash." I used to think, some mags are lemons and some are good to go. I later had found out that "Pmags" that ran great were actually MAGPUL P- Mags (Polymer Mags) and not "Pmags" PRO MAGS. I honestly belive that ProMag was created only to troll Magpul because I have never seen a review of them working. Magpul all day everyday. Secondly, couplers over drums… all day any day.

  34. XANATOS on November 30, 2021 at 8:38 pm

Years ago preban I bought a bunch of mk 90’s from China along with a bunch of drums and mags . I have yet to have any problems with either

  35. TheRoadhammer379 on November 30, 2021 at 8:38 pm

Amazingly, the 3 promag saiga12 drums I have run very well. Don’t own any rifle mags from them.

  36. Momin Khan on November 30, 2021 at 8:39 pm

Garbage , got one I wasted money on , Korean one works flawless

  37. thisolddog on November 30, 2021 at 8:42 pm

Another non bang up job by promag! I don’t know how that useless company stays in business! Several time I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt and every time I got garbage! To me it’s like a crappy brake company that sells you a product that fails Everytime you need to stop. Your life may depend on functionality when it comes to firearms! Great review brother!

  38. JSeriesRacing on November 30, 2021 at 8:43 pm

U didn’t load the 50 round drum right

  39. L17AR15 on November 30, 2021 at 8:44 pm

Pretty sure promag is owned by the Clinton’s. A Way to take peoples money by providing a product that doesnt feed more than 5 rounds consistently.

  40. Les Deplorables on November 30, 2021 at 8:44 pm

I CAN TELL YOU FIRST HAND WITH PROOF THEY WILL NOT BACK THEIR WARRANTY!!!

  41. dandude2010 on November 30, 2021 at 8:45 pm

Their 223 ak mags run great 👍 in my SAM5.

  42. Skys T'Limit on November 30, 2021 at 8:46 pm

i hear you interchanging magpul and promag….those are 2 different companies.

  43. J B on November 30, 2021 at 8:47 pm

It sucks, cause you goto gun shops and all you see are "ProMag" magazines everywhere. Even making their replicated Glock magazines, an extended mags. When I’d much rather pay 40$’s for the authentic Glock product.

An then with the AK-47 mags, an the ProMags in general. When taking with one of the stores employees, cause I was looking to find some of the og metal 30 round AK magazines. Which they usually carry, he was stating how one of the benefits of the poly verse metal.

Is that when people drop the metal mags, alot of the time it can "bend" or become dented. An may no longer function or operate, at least correctly. However the "thing about metal," is that you can also "bend it back into place." Plus there’s the locking tab and divot, that’ll wear down.. So idk but I’m still a fan of the metal made rifle mags..
Next thing there going to be making plastic 1911 magazines, unless they already do smh..

  44. Josue Guzman on November 30, 2021 at 8:48 pm

I wish these worked good since promag is local to me

  45. Nick Trusty on November 30, 2021 at 8:49 pm

I have the pro mag 50rd, in my vska it won’t charge. If I start with the bolt back it’ll work. Only dumped one full load out of it. Ran that just fine. Fun range mag.

  46. The Lost Boy Scout on November 30, 2021 at 8:49 pm

    Promags are good targets.

  47. Raymond J on November 30, 2021 at 8:49 pm

promag biggest piece of shit on the market i have a 65 round it wount load 1 round !!!!!!!!!!!

  48. Kevin Thorrington on November 30, 2021 at 8:49 pm

Everything promag makes is a epic fail. Don’t waste your money on promag magazines.

  49. JOHN DAVID SMITH on November 30, 2021 at 8:49 pm

I just got the 50 Round drum for my Micro Draco and it wont even load a round SMDH. Glad I saw this, it’s not me, it this POS mag. Pro Mag is garbage. I’ve left a message on their voicemail and havent gotten a response yet…

  50. Splash on November 30, 2021 at 8:52 pm

I feel like the drum just needs to be broken in more tight tolerances
