My Experience with Taurus Customer Service – TheFireArmGuy

In this video, I share my experience with Taurus customer service. The Taurus PT111 is back and the process was ok but the wait was very long. I would advise anyone who has to use their customer service to be ready for a long wait.

After your first "TAURUS" warranty repair vid, I commented that the rear sight screw was thrown out and hit me in the face while shooting, called and it was out of stock. At the time of the vid it had been ordered about a year, two months later I received that little sucker — 14 MONTHS LATER– guess what– IT WAS THE WRONG FRIGGIN SCREW !!!! My first and last Taurus — you better believe it !!

Oh snap. Now the front sight is gone??????? That sucks firearm guy. Taurus seem to be reliable tho. I have the 709 slim and I replaced the polymer striker guide in it to a stainless steel one. That single action on it is amazing now. Thanks again.

We sent our PT22 back in November because of excessive restrikes in order to get it to fire. I’ve called twice to get updates and all I get are canned responses of "it’s in line to be repaired". Thank you Captain Obvious!!! Now it is May 17, 2020 and we still don’t have it. So my plan is to call tomorrow and not hang up until they either agree to repair our gun, return it so I can find a real gunsmith to fix it, or replace it. They’re really going to hate hearing from me. I can promise you that I could be held at gunpoint WITH a Taurus gun and I will NEVER buy another Taurus product as long as I live!

    Bad, bad company.

  6. TheFireArmGuy on November 2, 2021 at 9:23 pm

I guess I didn’t inspect it that well. The front sight is missing. NOW WHAT?

  7. eric leboeuf on November 2, 2021 at 9:24 pm

I gave Taurus its LAST CHANCE.went to pick up a new Spectrum today, it lasted 2 Magazines, also when you had to wait four months, did they add that four months to your existing warranty ?????

  8. Antonius Blade on November 2, 2021 at 9:24 pm

I have owned a few Taurus pieces in the past. Had a model 82 as my first one. The barrel wore out, rifling faded to nothing. Sent it in, it took 3 months to get it back. I had to stay on them to get it back. When it came back it was never the same, accuracy was not like it was originally. Had a Taurus Judge in the past, a Tracker model in 45ACP. Those suffered from weak lockup and went bye bye. The last Taurus I owned was a 9mm model. Seems it was some sort of slim model. One day while extracting a round that was chambered for carry, the entire extractor, pin, and spring went flying. I never recovered it. Took it back to the place I bought it and traded it in on something else. No more Taurus for me.

WOW! Almost 5 months wort bullsh#$. Geeeze! Thats not right at all. I could see 6 weeks at the most! WHERES YOUR FRONT SIGHT POST????

  11. Sunil Thomas on November 2, 2021 at 9:26 pm

Actual repair time: 15 minutes, the rest of the time it sat on a shelf in the repair shop.

  12. Ed Bo on November 2, 2021 at 9:26 pm

I don’t know if you remember or not but, I asked you about a PPS M2 I was thinking about snatching up so I could send my Mill PT 111 Pro back for the recall. Well I got the Walther and before I could send the Taurus back I found out that there is a recall on the Walther. So I’m still carrying the Taurus till the Walther comes back. CRAZY !

  13. Zach Hubbard on November 2, 2021 at 9:27 pm

This is why i went with Kahr. I bought a Kahr brand new in the box, and it had trigger reset issues big time ( every gun manufacture has issues) called kahr, got ticket number, 12 days i had my gun back and my Kahr works flawlessly. Every manufacture will have an issues, how they handle it is what keeps my business.

  14. The Honest Truth on November 2, 2021 at 9:28 pm

I didnt know u could fire a pen out of a pistol XD

  15. Jim Fitzgibbon on November 2, 2021 at 9:28 pm

I think if it were me, I would have a new trigger assembly.

  16. gapster46 on November 2, 2021 at 9:29 pm

Call them, tell them the front sight was missing when you got the gun back and ask them to send you a new front sight. I had a missing screw from the rear sight on my PT-1911 and I had the part in less than a week no charge.

  17. Emory Holley on November 2, 2021 at 9:30 pm

They have had my my Judge for 5 months. Can’t get anyone on the phone, no response from emails…..

  18. Quality Guru on November 2, 2021 at 9:30 pm

I have been considering purchasing a Taurus revolver so I decided to call their customer service. Before you purchase any Taurus do yourself a service and call their customer servive. You will be waiting on the phone for a very long long long time. Smith and Wesson repaired my firearm within 6 weeks and I paid nothing for shipment. Too bad for Taurus, they worked on improving their products but fail miserably at providing their customers with quality service.

  19. yung cumshot on November 2, 2021 at 9:31 pm

The customer service is STILL shady, also what is up with them not sending confirmation emails and tracking # me and like a hundred other ppl never got one

  20. john harvey on November 2, 2021 at 9:32 pm

I don’t want to be a negative Nelly Here…. But the fact it took four months for your firearm to be fixed and sent back to you tells me something. It tells me that when your gun got there it was on a waiting list and had to wait to be fixed behind however many people were in front of you.
And considering if I had the correct Parts and the know how I could do the job in one day…. Means that there were a lot of defective guns being fixed before yours….. 4 months worth.
I’ve only had three guns that had to go back to the manufacturer for a defect….. Two of them were replaced. The one that was fixed and sent back to me was done within two weeks.
That company actually did a test firing of the weapon per my request…. And sent me the chronograph numbers for each shot fired…. And the five shot group on the target they shot at. The gun came back to me squeaky clean. They cleaned everything after the five test shots. You can’t ask for better customer service.

  21. deere3321 on November 2, 2021 at 9:34 pm

That was my experience with a TCP. I had to send it in twice for feed issues. Last year I had a PT22 that wouldn’t feed properly. The problem was the magazine and was not covered under warranty. Taurus considers a magazine an accessory so it’s not covered. I also had a PT111 at the time. I’ve since sold all 3 and I’m done with them.

  22. John Walsh on November 2, 2021 at 9:36 pm

    Taurus customer service SUCKS.

  23. wiseguy436 on November 2, 2021 at 9:38 pm

Some times it is just cheaper to fix it your self $25 shipping my guess you could have got the part a lot less . I have had done this on many of my guns .

  24. Stefano Pavone on November 2, 2021 at 9:39 pm

How are Taurus still making money if their customer service are apparently such bellends?

  25. Wayne Wells on November 2, 2021 at 9:41 pm

Ruger customer service was amazing!! Feed issue, they paid for fed ex shipping both way, less than 7 business days, I was back at the range. Fed like a champ. Just bought a Taurus….. well damn. Hope it never has an issue. 🔫😂😂😂

  26. Jose Garza on November 2, 2021 at 9:42 pm

Good to hear man. I have a tx22 and the dang striker broke back in January 2020. Contacted Taurus asap and nothing yet. They also discontinued my warranty on it.

  27. Kelli on November 2, 2021 at 9:42 pm

Purchased a Taurus revolver 454 in mid 2020 – I think June – and it broke in November after only going to the range with it twice. Parts broke and fell off of the gun when fired. This gun cost approximately $1000!

After hours on hold – I’m not kidding here – I was finally able to arrange to have this gun returned for repair under warranty but I had to pay $50 to have it shipped! I have tried and tried to find out the status of the repair but I can never get through. I started emailing anyone I could find & posting on their social media and finally – after weeks of trying – a customer advocate called me saying the parts were in Brazil & taking a long time because of Covid. Ok, sure they are.

She also was going to find out if the gun could just be replaced which would be ideal considering how quickly the failure happened. She promised me she would email me so I would have her contact info & never did! I have called & called and emailed & can’t get any answers! Just awful!

  28. PB Andjello on November 2, 2021 at 9:43 pm

Lol how did you make a whole video and not notice the front sight was gone?

  29. Herr Mahlzahn on November 2, 2021 at 9:45 pm

Be aware of Taurus. 30 Dollar savings on a Taurus gun could become very easy expensive when it comes to Taurus.
    I bought a Taurus 380 TCP in May 2017.
After about 150 rounds i realized the break down pin works his way out of the gun during shooting. No big deal you think? I have warranty!!??
Well – I used the Taurus web based chat. The lady very nice meant send it in, gave me a shipping label, and here it goes to Taurus in June 2017. Nice, Taurus send me a letter by US-mail (dated June, 6, 2017), confirming they have received the gun.
September 2017 I called costumer Service by Phone about my gun. 40 Minutes waiting time later, I was informed that the gun have to be replaced and I should give them a FFL dealer to receive a new gun. About 19 Months and 9 FFL dealers later, numberless calls to Taurus Customer Service, the gun is not coming back.
I called them and told them they should at least send me the broken gun back, its my gun after all. Even if I over to pay for shipping the broken gun back to me. No results.
Now it’s January 2019, the gun is still with Taurus. They don’t even answer E-Mails. Phone calls are worthless if they even answer the phone. I would have bought a Spectrum but I hesitate. What if something happen? Who will repair the gun? I don’t really know about Taurus employees, but $ 250.00 US Dollar that I paid for the TCP are a lot of money. May be not for Taurus employees but I’ll think for the rest of us.

  30. Joe S. on November 2, 2021 at 9:45 pm

Glad they fixed it. Man that a long time though. For a blue collar guy that’s low on cash and only has one carry gun, that could be painful though. Smith and Wesson had my pistol back in 29 days and j was a bit annoyed. Mainly because Ruger had my firearm back in 8 days the only other time I sent one in. I really wish we could just buy all the parts for these polymer pistols. As a mechanic for a living. I find them very easy to work on and would rather fix them myself than send it away.

  31. Keaton Crump on November 2, 2021 at 9:49 pm

Tarus is a joke. I am missing two little screw pieces for my tarus that they told me would send me the parts I need during Christmas. I am still waiting for those parts and can’t get a hold of anyone at Tarus. At the moment my 350 dollar revolver is useless and broken and I can’t do anything about it. I AM BEYOND PISS!!!!!

  32. James Broughton on November 2, 2021 at 9:50 pm

Now you’re scaring me I just put mine in the mail back to them it was the brand new TX 22 never fired got hung up in the rear position couldn’t break it loose. When I called them they told me well we have a lifetime warranty are on our garden so that’s why were so far behind. Well I hate to tell them but other manufacturers do also have a lifetime warranty and they are not 12 to 16 weeks behind. Pretty sad overall.

  33. Fun With Guns Family Channel on November 2, 2021 at 9:52 pm

Thanks for the report Dan. I’ve been there and done that. One of my frustrations is the wait for anything from Taurus. When I needed recoil springs for 24/7 Pro, I waited 4 months. If I needed for my G19 I would normally go to my local gun shop. That being said, I must say the 24/7 gave me almost 4000 rounds with no problems. Also, it concerns me that the trigger bar could break in a situation that I need my gun to defend myself. That trigger bar is redundant, once we already have a thumb safety on the PT-111. I currently own a Taurus 85, a PT-22 and a spectrum, plus the the PT-111 all running good. special mention to my Taurus 85, made in the 90’s and a rock solid gun. Be safe and Merry Christmas.

  34. Neto 2018 on November 2, 2021 at 9:52 pm

My PT111 took exactly 6 weeks to get back to me. Just like they said it would take.

  35. Recon Smith on November 2, 2021 at 9:53 pm

That’s a good company if you have more then one handgun. It’s still long process.

  36. Tom Rubino on November 2, 2021 at 9:55 pm

    I have a Taurus g2 not bad , but I am still a revolver guy .

  37. Martha Rigsbee on November 2, 2021 at 9:56 pm

I’m just seeing this video. I’m glad you finally got your gun back. My G2C came with a lifetime warranty.

  38. Little Jenny on November 2, 2021 at 9:58 pm

Well Dan, it takes time to grow new sugar cane ya know! Hehehe…
Seriously though, it’s too bad the turnaround time is so long. I just noticed in the video that the front sight is missing. WOAH!!!!

  39. Mark Webb on November 2, 2021 at 10:03 pm

It says a lot when Hi-Point has a much better customer service reputation than Taurus. Taurus should be ashamed!!! BTW, so does Kimber. I bought a Kimber Micro 9 on 4/16/20 and finally got to fire it on 5/11/20. Somewhere along the line the front fiber optic rod came out of it. For whatever reason my purchase didn’t include a pack of fiber optic rod replacements so I called Kimber on Tuesday, May 12th. Long story short, I received my replacement sights on Friday, 5/15. I installed by 1:00 PM and was shooting it by 2:30 PM. So what the hell is wrong with Taurus??!!

  40. GunsNHarleys on November 2, 2021 at 10:03 pm

I have a Rossi 357 snubbed, it has had less than 100 rounds fired through it. I noticed one day when I cocked it the cylinder would rotate, while cocked. I thought it was a fluke, tried cocking it several more times but minor pressure on the cylinder caused out to rotate. I sent it back at my expense. Several months later the gun came back, it was filthy. They had put some heavy grease on it. The problem was still the, they had done nothing. A friend with a machine tool background looked at it for me and was able to repair it. Now Im getting a recall notice it will possibly discharge if dropped. I’m going to get rid of this thing ASAP. No more of these weapons for me. A friend was part owner of a gun store. He told me they quit carrying Taurus products because so many of them had to be sent back.

  41. dJr Partners, ltd on November 2, 2021 at 10:05 pm

Hey just a heads up. They reactivated the limited lifetime warranty on select models and it’s retroactive for previous purchasers like myself. Hope they also fix the customer service issues. Here’s an exerpt:
"We are excited to announce the implementation of the new Taurus® Limited Lifetime Warranty. In developing this policy, we incorporated feedback received from our dedicated handgun owners and enthusiasts, based on what they wanted to see in a handgun warranty. Our customers will be pleased to learn the following Taurus handguns, previously covered under a one-year warranty, will now be covered under a Limited Lifetime Warranty:

    Taurus® G2c, G2s, TH series, Taurus TX22, 1911 Commander, 1911 Officer, Taurus Spectrum®, Raging Hunter®, 856, and 692 revolvers.

The new Taurus Limited Lifetime Warranty policy warrants to the original purchaser that the firearm was made free of defects in material, function, and workmanship, and promises that Taurus will remedy any defect in material, function, or workmanship for the entire time the original purchaser owns the firearm…"

  42. Sartek on November 2, 2021 at 10:07 pm

Glock may have a 1 year warranty, but Glock parts are common, interchangeable, and cheap on the open market. Taurus- no parts for anything, anywhere.

  43. Warren Jansen on November 2, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I have lots of nice guns, but I own three of these and a PT709. These really are a nice firearm. Feels great in the hand and it is hard to beat the price for a 12 plus 1 of this size. However, there customer service is horrible. My experience was similar to yours on the PT111. Over three months on a repair, however they did pay for shipping due to the problem happening right out of the box. Getting parts for the 709, due to an issue that was my fault, was close to a 6 month process.

  45. Graydog 0126 on November 2, 2021 at 10:09 pm

I sent mine earlier this year and it took right at twelve weeks. The communication with Taurus is bad and I’m still not convinced the problem was fixed. It was an extractor issue and it’s still not quite right. Not sure what I’ll do with it. I wanted to love this gun. We’ll see. I might get rid of it. Thank you for telling me about your experience.

  46. Procarry Trucker on November 2, 2021 at 10:10 pm

I have a 709S. Thank you for sharing.

  47. Janie Paul on November 2, 2021 at 10:11 pm

Just watched your video. I have a tx22 that i have been having issues with. Took it to our local gun store for them to check. They told me that the gun is having an ejector malfunction and need to send back to Taurus. I have spent over an hour calling and cannot get anyone on the phone. It is frustrating when you cannot get in touch with anyone.

  48. Matt G1776 on November 2, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Just a heads up , after a lot of complaints about the one year warranty, Taurus reinstated the lifetime warranty on all their guns.

  49. Peter Monck on November 2, 2021 at 10:12 pm

    Ouch !

  50. Robert Gertz on November 2, 2021 at 10:13 pm

Buy guns through Davidsons they are warrantied for life parts labor or replacement
