I’m looking forward to trying a new Shield with the double digits in the mags. I know the S&W quality and trust the reliability of their handguns.
My first semi-auto pistol for CC was a 45 Auto Shield with crimson trace laser installed. Got it locally at Springhill gun shop for just a little over 500 bucks. The trigger is very light in the low 3’s and breaks nicely. I was surprised on how well the trigger felt. It is one of the older versions of Shield that has 6 and 7 round mags. I have 3 different mags for it and that’s why I carry my Sigs now due to double digit magazines for CC. Oh, and the Sigs are very accurate due to the barrels being about 1/2 inch longer or more, for the purposes of defense it always helps to have some more rounds. Although, I still like the power of the 45 and I’ve shot that pistol a bit more so comfort level is very good with the S&W pistol.

Been shooting the S+W M&P 2.0 in the Florida State Department of Corrections for a while. Its an awesome gun. Went through two weeks of weapons qualifying and about 2500 rounds on each weapon. Accurate at the 25 yard line. 2500 round on 13 weapons each. Only two weapon malfunctions, same weapon both times, stovepipes due to a small lady limp wristing the weapon. Never once cleaned the weapons during that time until the end of the week. There was at least a millimeter of fouling along the feed ramp and everywhere else.
Just purchased this gun for my first weapon at 29. Glad I stumbled upon this informative video! Looking forward to practicing, and using it for protection.

This is the first handgun (and the second gun) I ever shot. Shot it yesterday. I was told my grouping was amazing.

Would This Gun Be Recommend To Get As A First Hand Gun?
I see most of these comments are older, but I am considering buying the M and P 2.00. My local gun shop has 2 options for this gun. a 5 inch barrell with regular optics, and a smaller barrell with better optics. They are charging significantly more for the smaller gun with better optics. IS this important, or irrelevant for a first gun? I like the weight on the bigger gun, for less recoil, but is the smaller gun with better optics that much better?

got mine last week, did some polishing on a couple parts and the trigger does not feel like it has gravel in it anymore. My only polymer gun and I think I’m gonna enjoy shooting this one for sure…
