Marlin Model 980DL (J.C. Higgins Model 42 DLM) Range Review

Marlin Model 980DL (J.C. Higgins Model 42 DLM) Range Review

An old Sears re-branded .22 magnum. It appears to be a re-branded Marlin 980DL. I have a bunch of history on the J.C. Higgins branding in the video, but skip to a couple minutes in if you don’t care too much.

Have one my Grandpa gave me. It has a scope too. It is pretty accurate. Don’t remember problems with ejecting. I have not shot it for many years. I can’t remember how many bullets the magazine holds? Did not know there is differences so much with .22 bullets?

I have the similar rifle, the J.C. Higgins Model 42 DL. It has the chrome trigger and trigger guard and will shoot .22 short, long, and long rifle. The marlin version of mine is the Marlin Model 80. I have had the rifle since my dad bought it for my brother and I in 1959. It has the same sloped rear of the bolt and uses a 7 shot magazine. The stock is nice walnut and full size. It is one of the most accurate .22LR’s I have ever had.
