I have two Marlin Guide guns. One in .444 Marlin and the other in .45-70 both have ported barrels one in stainless one blued. Love them both.

    A scope on a 4570 is more ridiculous than a scope on a 3030
They are made to be quick and shot at close range.

I too enjoy my 45-70 Gov. I call it, the Beast.!

  6. ZFlyingVLover on November 20, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Now your friend just needs to max out the capacity magazine to 6 shots. I mean you gotta be ready for the zombie grizzly’s yknow!

I have a GG in .450M. Those PMC rounds are comparable to the .450 factory. Both rounds are great rounds for hunting deer/bears. Good brush and truck guns.

  9. 45oneshoystop on November 20, 2021 at 10:22 pm

I was sighting in my Marlin 1895 , 45-70. Got it where it needed to be and I offered my friend a few shots with my 406 grn hand loads, He’s a big fella but he shot it once and gave it back to me. It’s a heavy hitter and it does the job on elk…and anything else in North America. I’ve gone to the 350 grn soft point with more velocity and a little less thump on the shoulder.

  10. oncall21 on November 20, 2021 at 10:24 pm

But how does it group at 100 yards with the scout scope?

  11. Satveer Chaudhary on November 20, 2021 at 10:26 pm

With such large recoil, would it help to hold the forearm tighter and farther forward?

  12. holdengr on November 20, 2021 at 10:29 pm

    you’ve got the 45 giggles…lol

  16. Réal Bureau on November 20, 2021 at 10:37 pm

…hahaha…..I think the PMC +P load thump surprised you…. I can see it on your face after the shot… great vid, I love the 45-70 cartridge. Keep up the good work bro..

  18. Manuel Silva on November 20, 2021 at 10:38 pm

can someone please answer this question what lever action is the strongest between the Marlin 1895 versus the Winchester 1886 I’m talking about the lever action that could withstand the hottest of the hottest loads

  19. MrSottobanco on November 20, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Does it shoot 1 MOA at 100 yards?

  20. I Never Met A Gun I Didn't Like on November 20, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I absolutely love the old .45-70-405. I was laughing with you!

  21. Eric Strat357 on November 20, 2021 at 10:41 pm

  25. Kratos_God_of_50_BMG on November 20, 2021 at 10:47 pm

What a GREAT round, and a great rifle! I think you never can really understand the power of these rounds until it’s driving the butt end of the rifle deep into your shoulder……part of the reason most people laugh after shooting it. I bought the Marlin 1895 GB cause I prefer the big loop and the extra capacity (+2 rounds), but I know the 18” barrel guide gun is specifically for someone out in the wilderness that needs a closer quarters weapon. If you’re on the fence about buying one, my recommendation is to shoot it before you buy it!! Oh also, don’t shoot it unless it’s tight up against your shoulder or it’ll donkey punch you HARD! LOL

  26. joe on November 20, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Oh yeah, I have some PMC 350 gr, it’s brutal ammo..I put a Pachmeyer Decelerator recooil pad on mine, very nice to shoot.

  27. sojourn on November 20, 2021 at 10:47 pm

What an awesome. And bad ass. Rifle. …so much power…

    I don’t know I like the marlin 444

  30. Paul Bailey on November 20, 2021 at 10:52 pm

That is a cannon damn !

  31. Riley Demboski on November 20, 2021 at 10:53 pm

The rear sight is on backwards

  32. danthedewman1 on November 20, 2021 at 10:53 pm

The scope on the short barrel rifle seems dumb..I own a 45-70 and carried it plenty in Alaska while fishing, awesome gun up close.

  33. raygon8 on November 20, 2021 at 10:53 pm

I have this gun with a ported barrel, kick is similar to my 30 06

  34. Kathy Kolding on November 20, 2021 at 10:54 pm

The best and worst of this cartridge , every bullet shoots the best in the short guns at full power and the recoil comes with it . I’ve had two guide guns at full power is where they shine !

  35. C MJ on November 20, 2021 at 10:56 pm

I have one with the model #444P which means it is a guide gun with a ported barrel chambered in .444 Marlin. These are nice riffles and they have a big projectile.

  36. willie alexander on November 20, 2021 at 10:59 pm

where is he at that you can walk into the woods and start shooting? i sure wish i could, here in NJ that is unheard of unless you own a lot of land with good neighbors.Mine is a marlin 444 which is hard to find ammo.

  37. dustin maurice on November 20, 2021 at 10:59 pm

At 200 yards is it still lethal to take down a Bullmoose

  38. cleveland antwine on November 20, 2021 at 11:01 pm

I cant believe that small gun will knock a huge grizzly bear down

  39. Renzor the Red on November 20, 2021 at 11:02 pm

What kind of iron sights are on that? Looks like a FO front and a peep back, but it’s not a skinner etc. Looks like a military-style peep.

  40. george scarlett on November 20, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Josh Randall had 45-70 rounds in his belt, but his Winchester "Hogleg" was a 30-30 according to a comment in one of the shows by a doctor that was removing one of Josh’s slugs from a "Villain" who I believe was later to become "Little Joe" Cartwright, (Michael Landon), what a "HOOT"!! Oh, and Josh frequently fired this thing one handed, kinda like Loyd Bridges doing fight scenes with twin BALSA WOOD Scuba tanks, Yeah, RIGHT!!! Ha!

  41. BigRedPower59 on November 20, 2021 at 11:04 pm

It seems as though every video I’ve watched of people shooting this rifle, people were laughing.  I think that’s what attracts me the most and why I want to get one so badly.  It must really be a blast (pun intended) to shoot.

  42. Chase Jackson on November 20, 2021 at 11:05 pm

Guess I have to get a marlin guide gun now

  43. tjmooremusic on November 20, 2021 at 11:07 pm

    Me want!

  44. Smoked Brisket on November 20, 2021 at 11:08 pm

if you really want to get crazy, try reloading some HEAVY cast leads – Beartooth Bullets makes a 425 grain hard cast and a 525 grain hard cast. With some fast (for 45-70) burning powder like RL-7, you should get right at 1600 FPS out of the 525. And you’ll be giggling your butt off while you rub your shoulder!

For a little contrast, the 458 win mag (same diameter bullet as 45-70, 0.458 inch) shoots a 500 grain bullet at about 2100 FPS.

  45. grege1972 on November 20, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Whats your opinion on the new Marlins now that they were bought by Remington, Have heard mixed reviews

  46. Crazy Horseaz on November 20, 2021 at 11:11 pm

For sure it will kill anything

  47. Xandrosi on November 20, 2021 at 11:11 pm

There’s a great YouTube on "What is a Brush Gun" that demonstrates how unreliable lower caliber cartridges are in heavy brush. If you’re only going to ever shoot game inside of 200 yards where brush is part of life, the .45-70 will do everything you want it to do. It’s was part of interesting chapters in US history and has remained iconic.

  48. MrBigden37 on November 20, 2021 at 11:12 pm

You can shoot a 430 gr. bullet at 1925 fps and 3537 ft.lbs as much pressure as the 45/70 cartridge can hold in the Marlin 45/70. However, in an old Springfield trap door, no,no,no.
