  7. aaron Van Rensburg on November 8, 2021 at 9:59 pm

    scope?

  8. Bee Bob on November 8, 2021 at 9:59 pm

    I found one at the gun shop today. It’s a 336W 30-30
There wasn’t a price on the gun and I had to leave (frozen groceries in car).
I’m waiting to hear back on its price. It looks a little older (nice condition) and doesn’t have a scope on it.
The shop seems a little high on their prices on their other firearms.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to look at paying for it?

  9. Lifted_Above on November 8, 2021 at 10:00 pm

If you cannot get within 175 yards of your game (excluding the Rockies regions), you might not being doing it right.

  10. Alejandro Hernandez on November 8, 2021 at 10:00 pm

How good is this rifle for hunting wild hog?

  11. Marvin Mansfield on November 8, 2021 at 10:03 pm

It’s a sin to put a scope on a lever action rifle

  12. Ander P on November 8, 2021 at 10:05 pm

  18. J R Deckard on November 8, 2021 at 10:12 pm

I suppose somebody will scope a .380 ACP, but until then scoping a 30-30 lever action seems the worst example of the optic.

  19. alex ansari on November 8, 2021 at 10:15 pm

I love the Marlin 336W 30-30. You have done a great job explaining the Marlin 30-30 and it’s details.

  20. Paul Rose on November 8, 2021 at 10:17 pm

I have my great grandfather’s 336 he bought new in 1948, still runs like a song and if you know what your doing is accurate to 200 yards. Great gun.

  21. Dead President on November 8, 2021 at 10:18 pm

i own a 336 texan from the 70’s. There are some visible differences. The blueing looks like paint on yours. Yours also has a safety. Is it still a micro bore?

  22. Time Traveler on November 8, 2021 at 10:19 pm

hickok got a vid about levers in civil war. they had a lot of flaws at first and winchester bought in on the company and this is the long-standing gold-standard.

  23. Danny Fisk on November 8, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Why in the hell does everybody shoot so fast?

  24. Time Traveler on November 8, 2021 at 10:19 pm

i remember i had to .. with open sights… break in my marlin. i never gave up on it… 4th time in a row i took it to a range to dump two boxes. i broke it in and it works great. but you gotta understand ur shoulder is gonna be the temporary cost of a good broke in gun. and u gotta factor in ammo… thankfully reloading 30-30 is relatively safe..

  25. David Ransom on November 8, 2021 at 10:21 pm

Had two 336C. Now only have one. Don’t reload now, so when California went non-lead for hunting I sent the 35 Remington back east to my nephew. Still have the 30-30, but I need to get the cheap scope off it and have a decent one mounted. Sight in at 3" high at 100 yards and just hold dead on out to 200 and you’ll be eating BBQ backstraps. I use a Boonie Packer Safari sling on it and it’s always ready to go.

  26. Nicholas on November 8, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Man I want one of these so bad.
Or something in 30. Caliber. 30 Caliber with Hard Cast Buffalo Bore Projectiles, man its just a great option for any type of work. (Also the 45-70 is a great option)
30-30 for home defense is a bit much But if you have a bit of land under 150 yards they’re great rifles, for hunting, for plinking or for whatever just having fun. You could carry them all day, they are reliable & iconic.
Just wish they held more ammunition. This rifle with 30 rounds would be awesome.
The old 30.Cal Carbine is another good option in this class of rifle.

  28. Dingo on November 8, 2021 at 10:27 pm

These are not ambidextrous rifles. Lefties will get a face full of hot brass and that’s no fun.
These rifles excel with leverevolution rounds (in fact they were developed for marlin rifles) you can get an easy 250 yards.

  29. Tcbranger on November 8, 2021 at 10:27 pm

    Just rub it with sandpaper.

  30. erotic gamer22 on November 8, 2021 at 10:27 pm

The first rifle i want to buy for myself

  31. CF542 on November 8, 2021 at 10:30 pm

Went to buy one of these but they were backordered so I ended up buying the Henry 30-30. Could not be happier.

  32. BJ9564 Lee on November 8, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Hey Sootch00 i’ve got a question for you Brother will the Marlin 336 W fire 170 Grain Ammo? when i Hunt with a 30-30 i use Remington Core Lokt 170 Grain Soft Points and it’s ammo i prefer

  33. Time Traveler on November 8, 2021 at 10:34 pm

kill anything in 100 yards. has crazy drop and energy loss after 150… leverevolution can turn this boy into a 200 yard deer/yote gun tho.

Doctor Sleep (2019) brought me here…

  35. Benew Gillian on November 8, 2021 at 10:37 pm

They should equip some units in the army with that rifle… Some have shotguns , so why not a good reliable , sturdy and powerful lever gun ?? At least during the Viet Nam War where brush guns were mostly needed in jungle combat against Viet Congs ‘s SKS or AK’s .. Some French soldiers for instance had Winchesters 1894 during the first world war , and made very good use of it …
    Just my opinion ..

  36. Alien Latino on November 8, 2021 at 10:37 pm

This is the loveliest, most sexy rifle in the world. Will get one.

  37. Ray Johnson on November 8, 2021 at 10:38 pm

  38. lifted Ninja on November 8, 2021 at 10:39 pm

  39. Jacob Spink on November 8, 2021 at 10:39 pm

Question . I have a 336w but it looks different. Mine has a gold trigger and the receiver and barrel is blued very nice, is it a rare order something idk ???????????????? Buddy told me it’s older better quality? !

  40. Adam Chapman on November 8, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I always liked lever action rifles I’d love to own one thanks for the Post keep up the good work from Canada.

  41. TheGozman100 on November 8, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Spot on review! I’ve killed several deer with my 336W.

  42. Time Traveler on November 8, 2021 at 10:44 pm

depending on the marlin. its basically do u want lighter weight more-carbine quick to aim (brush gun) . they do kick a big harder than some of the heavier classics.

  43. mike arg on November 8, 2021 at 10:45 pm

The lever action 30-30 does not need a scope, in fact hard to hear an opinion on a lever gun meant for 150-100 yard rifle that mounts a scope. Put a scope on your 30-30 and look like rank beginner when you take it out to shoot. Want a scope, buy a 30-06 bolt action and mount away…………….

  44. DA7545 on November 8, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I noticed on mine, the checkering is not dug in all the way. those diamonds are supposed to be pyramids. I have a checkering set and have gotten pretty good at it. Look forward to re-doing the finish and checkering. I prefer an oil finish.

  45. Danny Fisk on November 8, 2021 at 10:45 pm

You talk about how much you like lever guns and how great they are, but said , you don’t own one? What should we believe?

Scope on a 30-30? Not judging your life choices or anything but man you messed up somewhere

  50. Jacob Prevost on November 8, 2021 at 10:49 pm

I have a Marlin 30as that was my uncle’s he passes away and the rifle sat in a safe for around 10 years until my dad got it. I got it from my dad and it will be my sons’ one day. I also have I Ruger police service six that uses to be his as well.
