American jails & prisons are the most racially segregated facilities in the USA- with few exceptions, you are not allowed to have different "races" in the same cell. Most inmates have serious issues re: drug, alcohol, mental health, learning disability, education deficits, but get zero help. Thus, 2/3 end up back in because they got no training, education, interventions while we paid $55,000 per year, per inmate to f’n babysit. A racket for profit but of no use to reform, rehabilitate, etc.
