How To Buy a Gun In Canada: Armed and Reasonable
No one thinks of Canada as a nation of gun nuts, but collectively, Canadians own over 10 million guns and this number keeps growing. Canada has been ranked 6th best country overall for gun owners by Guns & Ammo Magazine.
There’s a new type of gun owner emerging — 20 years ago you needed to know someone with guns to be introduced to them, but today, young people are discovering guns online. This new generation of young gun enthusiasts is often simultaneously pro-gun and pro-gun control, almost fanatical about following gun safety laws. They’re making shooting a fast-growing extreme sport.
Despite somewhat high gun ownership and liberal laws, Canada’s gun violence is still remarkably low. What is it about Canada’s gun culture and laws that separates it from the US? VICE talks to gun legislators and enthusiasts in Canada and the US to find out.

‘i guess i have like a hockey stick’ I can link anyone to a video where a 18-20 yr old , 5’2 100lb, single mother was home alone in the boonies pretty much (outskirts) and 2 men showed up to rape her and whatever else they had in plan. They were trying to kick in the door and they had knives with them. She had a shotgun luckily and fired it once they got through and ran them off and i think she hit one. If that woman didnt have her shotgun she would of been RAPED, and likely murdered. Living her child for dead as well (it was a baby) or they could of potentially killed the child. You gotta remember these rapists n killers dont think like a normal person. This is why having a gun for safety and home defense is so important. It makes the playing field equal for people who it usually wouldnt be. Im 6’4 n 230, if it was me kicking in that door and they didnt have a gun what do you think would happen in a hand to hand fight? That is why i love that in the USA women n the vulnerable have a option to buy a gun n protect themselves n their loved ones/home
I saw this had a large dislike ratio and wanted to find out why. I thought the video was fine. Represented pretty much everything accordingly. Even though the reporter decided it ultimately wasn’t for her, that’s fine too. I thought it was great that in the NRA convention the editing didn’t paint the people attending as some kind of nut job. Reading the comments, it looks like many are pointing out looking down the barrel. I get the concern. My instructor got us to use a cleaning rod instead for the examine step. Thing is by this stage you’ve already removed the cartirdiges, observed the chamber, and verified the feeding path. When she’s looking down the barrel that’s the "Examine the bore" for obstructions step. Done correctly you’ve already proven the gun is unloaded and wont fire a round into your skull. I still wouldn’t do it, and and I’d just rather carry the cleanign rod instead for that step. But that’s the thinking anyways.

Canada has a high rate of gun ownership just like in the United States but however rarely have any mass shootings although some had happened over the last several decades.

6:09 HUGE ERROR…Every (gun show) FFL dealer sale MUST do a background check, unless in some states like AZ where someone has a valid CCW then no check is required, however the form 4473 is still filled out. It is ILLEGAL for any online sale to ship a gun to anyone other then a FFL dealer. Even if a private sale is started online, they can not ship it to anyone but a FFL dealer. No online store that sells guns is shipping it to your house!! LEARN HOW TO INVESTIGATE AND REPORT ACCURATE INFORMATION!!!

Most European countries have similar laws, you have to go through something similar to a driver’s license and are required to either be in a shooting club or a hunting club
