How Much Force Does a Handgun Bullet Have?

How Much Force Does a Handgun Bullet Have?

A little “scientific experience,” comparing how hard a variety of handgun bullets hit. Just take this for “what it’s worth.” All it shows is what it shows. ๐Ÿ™‚ Just for the record, we currently have no affiliation with the maker of this target. If you are looking for some quality steel targets, John and I would recommend you check out Action Target or MGM Targets.

Enjoyed this one especially. Going to show it to my wife, as she has .22lr, .380 and 9mm at her disposal for range and carry.

I believe maybe its the ft-lbs of energy that decides the impact of the bullets, either way anything below 40 s&w does not really have much of an impact on whatever you are shooting and this is somewhat important because if you are making shots on an armed threat and he does not realize that he has been shot than he will simply keep coming forward and keep shooting but if he feels a pretty good impact (slap/push) than he will most likely retreat or take cover. 40 S&W is where that impact really starts, although the 147 grain +p HST was really impressive.

  9. Joe Helvey on November 26, 2021 at 12:17 am

  18. Dakotah Rickard on November 26, 2021 at 12:29 am

    You know the best part?
    Whether it’s .22 or 10mm, it’s ammo in a gun.
Whether you get to have fun shooting targets or you’re put in the sad position of having to defend yourself, it’ll get done what needs doing.
Thanks for giving us a video of something simple, scientific, and superbly shot, both in terms of the guns and the camera.

  26. narendra irengbam on November 26, 2021 at 12:36 am

How did the 38 special perform so weak compared to even 9mms.

  27. wilomica on November 26, 2021 at 12:36 am

The ,357 SIG seemed loudest so if you’re looking to just scare of an animal or intruder I’d choose that. Let’s be honest from .380 up you moved the plates so I imagine they’re all lethal.

  28. Bill Allen on November 26, 2021 at 12:36 am

I’m liking the 9mm ,,,but that 44 mag. Hits hard๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  29. Daniel Aramburo on November 26, 2021 at 12:37 am

What would be fun would be a black powder comparison of different pistols on the same target. That would really give you something to clean up.LOL
