I recently aquired a similar h&r 410 topper that is pretty rusted. Before I attempt this I was hoping you could tell me where I can get the brass pins you use and what size to buy?

I have one of this 12 gauge model and I had problem with the ejector pin… It would not eject the cartridge as it was supposed to do.. I took it out and made a replica.. now it is problem free…

In the middle of a fix and clean of an H&R Bay State. Similar but older but the hammer spring install gave me fits. Thanks for your video, I was able to use a pin and install. Great camera angle!

Excellent video. I would not have attempted this without this video. Repaired a Topper 48 manufactured in 1948 that my Dad got when he was 13. I shot it for some time as a kid however, eventually the hammer would drop by itself. The old 410 was kept and displayed as a keepsake all these years. Stumbled across this video, found a hammer and trigger and have a working 410 topper once again. Thank you!

just what I was looking for. I just bought one and it’s really gunked up so this will help me to disassemble and clean. sadly the firing pin spring is missing.

Mine has 2 pins rather than 4 and has a second smaller spring above the mainsrping, what model is this?

I’m having a hell of a time trying to get the pin out

  24. Bob Rowan on December 1, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Great video! I have a Crescent Arms Victor Special that’s very similar to this. I’m no gunsmith but if I have to get into the trigger assembly etc, I now have a guide. Thanks!!!

Have a Harrington and Richardson model 148. Had a broken striker which I replaced. Problem now is I’m getting light firing pin strike on primer and no discharge. Wonder what would be causing this. All other firing components are properly functioning

  29. Barrett Goad on December 1, 2021 at 10:54 pm

I found this video very informative and I appreciate you taking time to produce one for such an old firearm. I have an H&R M48 "N" stamped .410 (no Serial Number), on which it is very tricky to get the hammer to catch when cocking. Once it catches, the trigger is whisper sensitive. My question is, like Mike C., should replacing both hammer and trigger solve the problem, or is it possible another part is failing? Thanks in advance, and again for an excellent video!

So… I have inherited this exact firearm from my Grandfather. The ejector seems to be gripping the rim of the shell very well but the darn thing is sticky when the spring is compressed so it won’t eject the shell. I know that all I need to do is clean it out really well (Grandpa always maticulously cleaned his guns but after sitting in a cabinet for 20+ years it’s expected that some of the oil he used to lube this up would get a bit gummy). This is the only video I or even manual I was able to find anywhere online that allows me to see the full disassembly of this shotgun. I am eternally grateful to the video maker and uploader for helping me keep this old shotgun in perfect condition (albeit well used over the many turkey and small game seasons it has seen) so that I can one day pass it on to my son for him to enjoy our family history and maybe even put a bit of food on his family’s table one day.

What other caliber bullets safe to shoot in h&R topper 48 410

  42. J.D. Survivor Outdoors on December 1, 2021 at 11:11 pm

Great video, had my topper 48 .410 single shot taken apart for cleaning since it looked like it needed some help. Got the four pins out but marred one up punching it out. Managed to get it back together but I have no hammer resistance. By watching your video I will break it back apart and try again. Can you tell me where I can get a new pin to replace the marred one? Thank you and I appreciate your help, great video!!👍
