I bought the SS version last night. I assure you it’s not a BB gun nor is it "Cheap Ass".

  2. killerninjao1o on December 5, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Looking to buy a 30-30 for whitetail.  I’ve seen this gone for a good price and wouldn’t use the gun for anything besides hunting and was wondering if this would be any good?  Anyone use this for deer yet?

  3. 1pjlewis2 on December 5, 2021 at 10:29 pm

I would just buy a marlin 336. This is a knock off!

  4. killinpigs on December 5, 2021 at 10:29 pm

I just drilled the screw heads off, and the rail came off easily. I shoot power points almost exclusively in my Rio Grande. Maybe I just got a good one. I don’t know, but these negative comments about this rifle don’t make a lot of sense to me. Mine is a joy, and I have NEVER regretted buying this rifle. I have a Marlin, and it doesn’t fire, or chamber, any better than my Rossi Rio Grande…and no, I’m not a Rossi rep. Just a Texas county boy without a lot of money.

    tourus? grand? lol

  6. TexasRedneck on December 5, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Really wanting a lever action. If I were to get one what would be your recommendation? Mainly for plinking, but I dont really want a .22.

  7. WIzzFIzzSM on December 5, 2021 at 10:34 pm

i have a rossi 30-30 and i too find that it has trouble ejecting efficiently, glad im not the only one to have this problem

  8. HeavyDeeberz on December 5, 2021 at 10:35 pm

357 mag for plinking and hunting thin skin small game. 357 is awesome.

  9. Gunscom on December 5, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Yeah. Long story on that one, but essentially Marlin was bought along with a bunch of other companies and since it’s all under one owner, to cut costs there’s been changes in how it’s made and that would be the verdict by many.

    Decent hunting gun

  11. FordGtman333 on December 5, 2021 at 10:39 pm

Nice to see a fellow razorback shooter.

  12. killinpigs on December 5, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Damn straight. Most of the negative comments here are from the "gun snobs" who think that spending more money actually makes a gun better. Maybe that impresses their shallow friends. My Rossi .30-30 is a GEM of a rifle, and at $359.00 I have NO regrets.

  13. killinpigs on December 5, 2021 at 10:43 pm

You’re full of it. I have this Rossi .30-30 and also a Rossi .357 Magnum. and they perform as well as any firearms I have ever owned. My Ruger Blackhawk .357 has NOTHING over my Rossi. You are a gun-snob troll. PERIOD.

  14. Moto Mo on December 5, 2021 at 10:45 pm

The .410 version of this gun is actually smooth bore and can be very troublesome and ammo finicky. Wouldn’t be surprised if they stop making it due to the high % or warranty claims on the model.

  15. pher8487 on December 5, 2021 at 10:46 pm

I got a stick shell I can’t get it to eject what do I do help?

  16. Bill Smith on December 5, 2021 at 10:49 pm

I bought mine at the Academy Sports and Outdoors in Houston. I got a couple of boxes of ‘Monarch’ 30-30 ammo from them too. This is brass cased ammo from Serbia. This ammo jammed up in the chamber after each shot. I had to field strip the rifle and push the spent case out with a rod. Other ammo did not act this way. In addition, the Monarch ammo fired no problem in my Winchester 94. Go figure!

They’re called Remlins and since remington took over marlin, their guns have gremlins. That’s why I am getting the Rossi Rio Grande. Just be sure to clean out all the Cosmoline before you start shooting it. A some minor deburring may be in order but otherwise it’ll be fine and a lot less pain the Remlin.

  18. Chris Moore on December 5, 2021 at 10:50 pm

I wouldn’t call a firearm that only cycles 75% of the time "decent" at any price!

  19. Ervin Schrader on December 5, 2021 at 10:51 pm

This rifle is a piece of shit!

  20. azulmarazul on December 5, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Why when you talk about the rifle does not have the picatinny rail and if when you shoot yes. I have one like it, I found problems when I want to shoot with the rail in place.

  21. killinpigs on December 5, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Nope. It’s a very nice .30-30. Nothing "cheap" about it. My freezer is full because of this EXCELLENT .30-30.

  22. bmaximize on December 5, 2021 at 10:51 pm

i know its a old comment but if you havent gotten anything yet checkout the rossi r92 in .38/357 or the puma

  23. frankgon4 on December 5, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Now that Marlin’s Quality has gone down hill, the Rossi is a pretty close match to the Marlin.

  24. tyler hurd on December 5, 2021 at 10:52 pm

i just got the rio grande in ss great gun and i agree with the scope and safy because i have low scope mount on mine and its tough to lower the hammer down. great gun no problems and very smooth.

  25. Thomas Pierce on December 5, 2021 at 10:53 pm

I payed $399 so i got a deal based on the msrp

  26. Tony SoLucky on December 5, 2021 at 10:55 pm

both my marlin 336 30-30 and 1895 45-70 hang up like that when im shooting the hornady leverevolutions

  27. hughes2397 on December 5, 2021 at 10:57 pm

If the gun is brand new, it can make the lever hang up until its worn in a little.

  28. Moto Mo on December 5, 2021 at 10:57 pm

Just a word to the wise: avoid the .410 version of this gun unless you’re a glutton for punishment. All manner of problems ( see my videos ) …

  29. Moto Mo on December 5, 2021 at 10:57 pm

BTW, the .410 barrel is actually smooth with cylinder bore ( non-threaded).

  30. Pete Collins on December 5, 2021 at 10:58 pm

i have one of these, its a nice gun..

  32. jtc357 on December 5, 2021 at 11:06 pm

WOO PIG SOOIE!!! Gave a thumbs up just for the hat.

  33. killinpigs on December 5, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I noticed that you took the rail off the top! I did the same thing. It was blocking my buck-horns. I have never had ANY problems with my Rio Grande, and it performs as well as any rifle that I own. VERY nice little .30-30 at a very affordable price.

  34. Tony SoLucky on December 5, 2021 at 11:06 pm

mount a hammer extension on your hammer. it will allow your thumb to use the hammer off to the side. their just $20

  35. Justin May on December 5, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Just picked up one today. Cleaned it really well, took it out and it shoots really well. Got mine at buds for $319. Pretty good deal for me.

  36. steelgila on December 5, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Remington traditionally has no history with lever-action rifle designs and I guess that shows in the present offerings . I heard they bought out Marlin but let the Marlin gun makers go! But I’m glad to see someone is keeping these great gun designs going.

  37. Samuel Morado on December 5, 2021 at 11:08 pm

I paid 219 at a pawn shop with a scope so I am happy

  38. n2dabloo on December 5, 2021 at 11:09 pm

I just bought this gun. My came with a weaver mount and 4-9×40 scope. It shot tight groups right out of the box and never once jammed after shooting 5 boxes of ammo. I didn’t try the Leverevoution rounds. I do have two boxes of that ammo though and I’ll give it a whirl next time at the range. I am very pleased with this gun!

  39. Tony SoLucky on December 5, 2021 at 11:12 pm

look at a Rossi 92 in 357 mag or 45 colt. its a clone of the winchester 92 and a great plinking gun.

  40. HeavyDeeberz on December 5, 2021 at 11:14 pm

Cases are sticking prob due to a poorly machined chamber just like my rossi. get out a dowel and some sand paper and get to work. Thats the difference in a cheapo and a quality rifle (eg. Winchester – but double the price).

  41. Gunscom on December 5, 2021 at 11:14 pm

This would be pretty good for the price. But you can never go wrong with Marlin and 30-30 is a really fun round to shoot. Price is the only catch. You can probably get a new Rossi for the same price as you can getting a used Marlin.

  42. Saku19 on December 5, 2021 at 11:14 pm

You are one of the lucky ones. I bought a Rio Grande in 30-30, the damn thing broke after less than a hundred rounds!! It took over 6 months to get replacement parts. (and the rifle still doesn’t work!), Now, they want ME to pay to ship it to them, to fix it. I’m currently dealing with them, so they will cover the shipping, to fix a rifle that was made with inferior parts.

  43. FrustratedNameSearch on December 5, 2021 at 11:15 pm

I’m being told by a lot of people that Marlin quality has gone seriously downhill 🙁

  44. russotragik on December 5, 2021 at 11:16 pm

    more or less, yeap!

  45. Hubert Farnsworth on December 5, 2021 at 11:17 pm

    I really like that gun
Had a prob wit the action but solve that shit with regular cleaning and oiling

  46. TexasRedneck on December 5, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Thanks! I have yet to get one, looking for a sr1911 atm.

  47. Patrick Anderson on December 5, 2021 at 11:19 pm

can you put replacement iron sights on its rail

  48. Serghei Godorog on December 5, 2021 at 11:19 pm

    thanks, one fine review!

  49. ThunderWolf39 on December 5, 2021 at 11:21 pm

I just seen the first one ive ever seen at wal mart for $387 i think

  50. Shelter93 on December 5, 2021 at 11:24 pm

i have the ss version. i have shot about 80 rounds through it. it needs to be cleaned well in between uses. if you put a decent scope on it, it would probably be a good deer riffle. happy with mine. if i had to do it again, i would buy the 357/38 taurus. just cheaper to shoot.
