Too bad we can’t take them with us when we pass.

  4. Jon Girolami on November 11, 2021 at 10:29 pm

They were fitted with the model 48 Lyman rear sight. I have the same rifle with the Lyman and a vintage Kollmorgen 6X scope.

Great video. Helped me out a lot! Thanks!

  9. GrayF0x on November 11, 2021 at 10:35 pm

I have a 1909 built in 308 by old school gunsmith 18 years ago. Always fun to shoot, always reliable and I love the "loose" Mauser action – just drop a round in and slam it down.

  10. Ed Spencer on November 11, 2021 at 10:39 pm

I have an opportunity to purchase an FN Mauser in 06. N9 scope, mounts are there and the rifle is in really nice shape. It’s just as dry as yours and will need a good clean n lube.

  11. Victor Smith on November 11, 2021 at 10:41 pm

just got mine 2 weeks ago havent shot it yet but gonna this weekend.

  12. nrainfidelforlife on November 11, 2021 at 10:41 pm

I have one exactly like that. It is dated 1952. I bought mine from a family friend about 15 years ago for $200. I always wondered why it was chambered in .30-.06. My scope mount is identical to yours. I’m assuming that’s how it came. Mine has a Tasco scope that is steel! I repaired and cleaned the scope and there was a faint 1947 stamp on the inside. I’ve never seen one like until I saw yours. Very cool.

  13. William Mawk on November 11, 2021 at 10:42 pm

You have one of the very finest rifles ever made in one of the finest calibers ever made. It is basic a German K98 action which is maybe the greatest action of all time.

  14. Josh Browning on November 11, 2021 at 10:43 pm

I have this same gun, only mine is chambered in .270
    I didn’t know they were THAT expensive though. . . $2900 is a lot for a gun🙄

  15. Brian Lee on November 11, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Absolutely beautiful classic. I would love to have one just like this. I would be willing to bet it was a real shooter with the aperture on it too. Thank you for sharing.

  16. SF Outdoors on November 11, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Nice job! I have one that I inherited from uncle also! Kicks like a mule! Oh, and put on your hearing protection or you will loose it.

  17. gilliland426 on November 11, 2021 at 10:45 pm

sweet rifle in the best long range ammo 30-06.
the stock looks like my monte carlo comb stock.

  18. LLDUBTOO on November 11, 2021 at 10:51 pm

That’s the "Deluxe Mauser" by FN. Dad had a 270. A 3 round group I shot with it with a 3X9 scope had all three holes touching.

  19. David Friesen on November 11, 2021 at 10:52 pm

I want to get a Husqvarna 1600 or m98 from tradeexcanada
They are such beautiful rifles and so affordable
They sell for around 450$ Canadian

  21. Derek Heintz on November 11, 2021 at 10:54 pm

  22. Mimbresriver on November 11, 2021 at 10:54 pm

I inherited my Dads 30.06 which he received from my Mom as a Christmas present in 1964 or 65 and his is stamped on the barrel WESTERN FIELD MODEL 750A EGP 30-06 CALIBER I checked serial numbers and cross reference charts and Montgomery Wards, Sears, Western Auto and other stores sold a variety of Mauser rifles purchased through firearms dealer clearing houses. Mine I traced to a dealer in Pasadena, CA but that’s where I hit a dead end as they went out of business in the70’s. My beautiful hardwood stock got dry and brittle over the years and cracked and I’m trying to get a replacement any information would be greatly appreciated!

  23. Adam UserName on November 11, 2021 at 10:56 pm

I got one with the markings whiteline los Angeles 15 on the butt, bolt action. Beautiful finish and very heavy. Idk what it is or if it works. Got it as a gift

  24. thelocustemperor on November 11, 2021 at 10:58 pm

Beautiful rifle, take good care of it!!

  25. Martin Axe on November 11, 2021 at 10:58 pm

My dad gave me his FN Mauser in 30.06. I used it for the first time last November for deer season. I put a Nikon Prostaff 4-12 x 40 on it. After 4 days in the backcountry, the rifle finally had its opportunity. I spotted my deer at 240 yards, snuck into 186 yards and was able to drop the deer on the first shot, right where I was aiming. Very accurate and consistent rifle, easy to maintain, and dependable. A tad heavy, but I’ll tolerate the weight for its qualities, and the price: free!

  26. Chris Toph on November 11, 2021 at 10:59 pm

  30. Master Po on November 11, 2021 at 11:03 pm

That gun looks like Larry Potterfield worked on it. Really nice.

  31. Brad Helsel on November 11, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Great video! I have the same model, 3rd generation owner. My son is getting to the age to start introducing him to firearms so hopefully I can pass it off to him some day.

  32. EastTexan on November 11, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Those FN’s were imported for Browning starting in 1959 if my memory serves me right.  They are valuable guns today bringing prices near equivalent to the Winchester Model 70 pre64 rifles.  Wonderful firearms.  A man of your talents should consider purchasing a better shooting rest. That was hard to watch.

  33. Don Freas on November 11, 2021 at 11:05 pm

  35. Silver Back on November 11, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Anything ever made by FN is of very good quality and this rifle is no exception. This one is in excellent condition. Beautiful ! That recoil pad is a necessary option IMO.

  36. Kinzie Conrad on November 11, 2021 at 11:12 pm

How much would a serial number 457 8mm Mauser from around circa 1918? In good condition.

  37. dalan wanbdiska on November 11, 2021 at 11:15 pm

I just bought 1 for 350. Its a golden state arms company from pasadena california , Centurian 123 model in 30.06. It has the exact same look as your rifle except the safety is on the right side like a newer rifle. And it has a synthetic black stock. Same rail set up as yours too. Im going to put on a 4x scope on it . I like this new old rifle . I cant wait to zero the rifle for hunting season.

  38. Jake Chapman on November 11, 2021 at 11:15 pm
