I just bought a new Fn 509 and I love it! I was about to get the Glock 19 gen 5 because I love Glocks. But I saw the FN 509 and I got it and it might be my new favorite gun.

Saw one of these in a local gun shop the other day. I thought "Oh cool, an FN 509. Didn’t Hickok45 do a video on one?" Needless to say, I bought an FN 509. Too bad 9mm is so hard to find these days. Oh well, guess I better start handloading it.
When you tap the back of a mag after loading it, is that to settle the ammo in the mag, or a subconscious habit.
Also, is it possible for a round to fire when you do that?
Just purchased an FN 509 after months of deliberation. Definitely worth it.

you forgot Corruption
in my experience with m&ps and other fully ambi guns the left hand slide drop is always stiff at first. (im left handed so its important to me) but all my m&ps gen 5 glocks etc loosened up over time and use. I cant speak to the fn but I assume the same is true. they aren’t truly equal slide locks. one side is connected to the frame and the other side is just connected to the left side. so until the slide wears in the spring tension makes it super difficult to drop the slide. the bar connecting it will just flex instead of releasing the side. recoil springs get lighter and the slide stop groove becomes smoother and then they work.

You can have hollow points everywhere except NJ. Our clueless governor thinks hollow points are scary. Full metal jacket and 10 rounds only. Can’t wait to move to a free state

I own Glock an fn my buddies have the Glock 17 I still prefer my 509 if you thinking about buying one it is well worth it
I practiced with a glock 19 gen 5 and I had the same problem with ambi slot release…is that a problem with all ambi hand guns or was that a coincidence?

What speed loader are you using?
I had one and absolutely loved it! I made the mistake of getting the full sized one rather than the midsized because I didn’t know about it until I bought the full size. Then again, it was the first pistol I ever owned. WONDERFUL handgun in every way. The only reason I sold it was because of the size. There’s a very good chance that I’ll end up buy the midsized model. It’s crazy accurate, recoil isn’t bad, people say the trigger is gritty which is true but not as bad as people make it out to be. As long as you have good trigger discipline, you can break any accurate shot you need to. Did I mention reliability? Super super reliable!!! And it came standard with night sights! Not just because I used to own one but compared to other pistol especially in the price range, I give it a 5/5, excellent pistol!

I had problems with it. Mag wouldn’t drop freely in winter time.

Your having a hard time maybe because it’s a “slide lock” and not “slide release” it’s dropping you scraping the two metals 2 words “wear and tear”
