Since spray paint can be sanded and polished, to get the orange peel texture out, I wonder if ceracoat or duracoat can be polished.

    Why is the flag upside-down?

    Thanks for the videos

Hey, thank you for posting this. Pretty much answers the question that I’ve had for quite a while: "Is Durakote a much more durable alternative to Spraypaint that holds up reasonably well compared to Cerakote". It seems the answer is "yes". For the purposes of easy application, and possible re-application, at a reasonable cost and limited equipment, it’s just what I’ve been looking for.

Have you had any issues with your plastic dust cover? Strike Industries?

  6. NONTACTICALBOY on December 8, 2021 at 9:57 pm

I coated the frame on my CZP10C with duracoat. Emptied the whole can coz i dont have anything else to paint, its holding up really well to my surprise after almost 2 years of lots of daily carry. I was expecting it to wear much more than it is, considering its on polymer but it didnt. Real satisfied. Plus the only prep i did was washed it with dish washer.

Could your fucking intro be any louder.

  8. Mark Pikas on December 8, 2021 at 10:01 pm

What color is the duracoat, the ceracoat, and it looks like the grip and buttstock are a lighter color, what is that?

  9. Frank Leonoyed on December 8, 2021 at 10:02 pm

Where do people get this duracoat stuff? I just got a new pistol and I want to make it OD green but I don’t wanna use just regular spray paint that won’t last.

    What sling is that

Good vid thanks for posting. FWIW, I use a felt sticky pad on the brass deflector saves the cases and your finish.

  12. Troy Eberling on December 8, 2021 at 10:08 pm

Your duracoat would hold up better too if you did sand blast it with aluminum oxide or garnet vs just scuffing. Duracoat is a great product. I spray both and have compared wear, both are great. Youtube years ago gave duracoat a bad rep because people weren’t prepping it correctly then doing reviews on it.

my friend mentioned duracoat yesterday and I totally forgot it existed. I remember it was the craze a couple years ago then I stopped hearing about it. Cool to see it’s held up.

Going through around 500-1000 a month now so it will be interesting to see how the elite series cerakote lasts. I wonder how the high temp stuff would do on a barrel seeing how it does on suppressors makes me think it would easily outlive the barrel. Definitely going to apply the elite series inside and out considering how it has an extremely low coefficient of friction. I never baby my builds and run em hard so they get scratched up all the time but the type 3 hardcoat anodizing is impressive stuff to say the least.

Yes sir it is holding up nicely👍🇺🇸

Which Cerakote series? H-Series is the most common, but it requires oven curing. Most people don’t realize that the C-Series, which does NOT require an oven or the addition of a hardening agent, is more durable, but it does not offer any lubricity. Avoid the complexity of cerakote by going with the C-Series on anything except the inside of the lower/upper receivers and buffer tube.

It must have looked new when you got done the first time. Duracoat works great if you prep properly and take your time.

  18. MiNTac on December 8, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Great update!! I’m doing another Duracoat Kryptek job when it gets warmer… Stay tuned! Did you get the patch and stickers yet?

Thank you for this video, first time here.

What kind of castle nut is that? Did it come with the buffer tube? Also wondering if there’s really a difference between duracoat and 2k engine paint, looks like exactly the same stuff, even down to the can. Just bc I’m a cheap bastard.

Very cool. Both options work well. Thanks for this content

I like the matte cerakote finish but duracoat last longer imo. I have mags that I painted with duradize blue and they arent even worn where that mag catch scrapes them. I have a slide that was professionally cerakoted and it’s well worn. From a fabric molle holster after just 1 year. Looks cool tho, worn in. I’ve seen uppers and handguards that claim to be cerakote but I’m skeptical, they appear to be dipped and I think cerakote has to be sprayed.

Looks good bro. Looking forward to your cerakote vid.

  24. Justin on December 8, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Did you get an orange peel effect on the surface texture? BTW, you sound familiar. Do you live in oh?

  25. Stumpknocker22 on December 8, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Nice looking gun man. When you duracoated it did you strip the finish off or sand it?

  26. Sandy Mitchell on December 8, 2021 at 10:34 pm

held up great, that more then ive ever used my gun and still looks great

  27. john sykes on December 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Nice colour, is this the Magpul FDE? I’m convinced about the durability of Duracoat just trying to figure out colours as I’m in the middle of nowhere and no one does it in Northern Australia

  28. unleasheth on December 8, 2021 at 10:36 pm

I ordered the duracoat bad ass series or whatever they’re calling it. Nighthawk coyote tan. Just waiting for them to ship it. Took my money a week ago still no email on shipping. Getting really really fed up with Covid and covidiots, making it harder and harder to practically order much of anything it seems as time goes by. Utterly ridiculous. But nonetheless I am glad to see how it turned out. Can’t wait to put it on my Glock. Peace out

  29. Leroy Farmer on December 8, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I like the flat tone of the cerekote more than the shine of the duracoat.

  30. Mike Mike on December 8, 2021 at 10:43 pm

    Is cerakote better?

  31. tafino on December 8, 2021 at 10:44 pm

    Helpful video! Much appreciated

  32. SkintSNIPER262 on December 8, 2021 at 10:45 pm

Did you paint your charging handle with Duracoat? Also, did you be post that Cerakote video you mentioned in the video?
