An examination of a Bell & Ross chronograph from the early to mid 90’s. During this time they did not produce their own watches. Instead, they turned to Sinn to provide them with timepieces. The collaboration dissolved in the early 2000’s
Corrections, Clarifications, question.
#1. When I ask you to keep your eye on the “airplane shaped chronograph tip” I meant to say ‘airplane shaped tip of the chronograph hand”.
#2. the Lemania 5100 is a unidirectional winder and NOT a “unidirectional movement” whatever that is 🙂
#3. Does anyone know exactly how much shock the movement can withstand before the chronograph hand stops?
#4. YES, you can hear the rotor winding if you listen carefully. This will also be the last time I mimic wristwatch sounds, not really my strong suit 🙂
#5. I believe that there is also a stainless steel version of this watch.
Great looking watch. It’s the Military/NATO bund style case. There are many variations from other brands, which make them really interesting timepieces due to the design, styling. A proper Pilots watch. Very nice example!
great review, I’m about to buy a space 2, pvd version…, a bit worry about size, my idea is to use it as an everyday watch, what do you think? cheers and thanks.
How do you feel about using a chronograph as a diver? Kind of makes me cringe a little, even though this example has a good depth rating
Can the Lemania movement date be set in ANY position or is it more like the 7750 as it can be damaged when setting at certain times?
By the way springs like that don’t store energy under tension, they store it under compression

I have to add. It’s got a truly great, classic chronograph movement. Lemania produced quality chronographs. And you are right in saying these watches are super tough. Its good to see its got a few battle scars, knocked about. Proving how built for purpose these watches are.
