What was the approx. weight of the finished project? I know you said youโ€™d move it with the tractor, but would it be movable by 2 decently strong dudes? Iโ€™d like to build one at home and take it to my farm, but I donโ€™t want to build one at home and have it turn into a plant stand because itโ€™s too heavy to move. Love the video…keep โ€˜em coming

I like this but 1 question there is no cut for the middle spar at 40′ in your cut list? Please advise.

Nice shooting bench and I have the same dewalt tools….great tools!!! Would like a list of materials and dimensions so that I can make one also!!!

  4. vtjpd on October 30, 2021 at 6:30 pm

Built my own variant based with your general measurements as a basis using just the lumber I had around the house. Thanks!!

Did you use pressure treated lumber?

I hope he has a range in his front yard…he won’t be moving that bench in his jeep.

  12. James Rowe on October 30, 2021 at 6:35 pm

I’m sure the best wood makers instructions is on woodprix website.

I got the older dewalt drill thatโ€™s not brushless. Iโ€™m going to replace it with a brushless once it craps out. Iโ€™ve been saying that for the last 4 years they just wonโ€™t quit

  17. William johnson on October 30, 2021 at 6:37 pm

    Great video
Use 1 8 foot deck board and 2 10 foot deck boards

  18. Mark Trebacz on October 30, 2021 at 6:38 pm

Thanks for the great video, just built one last weekend!

Nice job. Great video, that is for posting

Nice Job On The Bench!! ๐Ÿ‘Š

  21. Fletcher Atkinson on October 30, 2021 at 6:42 pm

The only thing I’m doing different is working my deck boards in from each side so I have one narrow piece in the middle.

  22. Garzon Laperle on October 30, 2021 at 6:43 pm

You can go to woodprix if you would like to make it yourself guys.

  23. Thomas Hood on October 30, 2021 at 6:44 pm

What two boards (length) were the ones you cut at 45 degrees

  24. Ricky Burton on October 30, 2021 at 6:45 pm

Dewalt is made in China and they suck. They donโ€™t last! Get a Makita. It will last forever! And use any color other than grey!

  25. Richard Dean on October 30, 2021 at 6:45 pm

One of the best video tutorials I’ve ever seen. One question from a tinhorn here…at 6:29 of the video what is the distance between the two rear 2×8 vertical rear bench supports? spacing is critical to ensure proper seat support. It looks like 3 or 4 inches maybe? Can someone clarify, please?

  26. Critical Reasoning on October 30, 2021 at 6:47 pm

WARNING Inappropriate Mind Numbing and Vomit Inducing background muszac that will make you stupid enough to think that this is an awesome design.

  27. MorninTripper on October 30, 2021 at 6:47 pm

Thanks for the great shooting bench plans!

    Time Line:
    2:50 Cut List*
    5:10 Framing Pics
    5:30 Assembled Frame w/o Top
    6:10 Top View Dimensions
    6:15 Elevation Dimensions #1
    6:20 Elevation Dimensions #2
    6:44 Material List
    12:34 Finished Bench Pics

I’ve worked up a couple lists that I found useful to me before I set out to make this bench. Of course, as others have noted, I don’t believe you have included the materials and/or cut list for the top. It looks like to me you have used 5/4 x 6 treated deck boards for the top and I purchased (4) 8 footers for the top. Easy enough to cut them to fit the top by using the framed top as a pattern once I completed framing the bench… simply lay the boards on the side-by-side and mark the bottom with a pencil, remove and cut to fit.

My Materials List and current prices at local Home Depot as of 29 Dec 2019:

    (10) 2x6x8 $5.47 each (Total: 54.70)
    (1) 2x8x12 $12.17 each
    (4) 5/4x6x8 $5.47 each (Total: 21.88)
    (1) 1 lb box #9×3" Deck Screws $9.47 each
    (1) 1 lb box #19×3-1/2" Deck Screws (used where screwing into end grain) $9.47 each
Total: $107.69 Note that I purchased an extra 2×6 and a longer 2×8 than necessary. For slightly higher cost I should have room to cull and optimize for best quality, and maybe eliminate a return to HD to replace a defect or miss-cut. All boards are Pressure Treated Lumber.

    Cut List For Framing Members:

    Qty Material/Length/Part Description

    4 2×6/35"/Forward Legs
    3 2×8/35"/Rear Legs
    4 2×6/43"/Top Front & Rear, Bottom Front & Rear
    4 2×6/25"/Top Ends, Bottom Ends
4 2×6/20"/Rear (Center) Top and Bottom
    3 2×6/44"/Seat Horizontals
    2 2×6/17"/Seat Verticals
    1 2×6/40"/Top Stretcher
    6 2×6/16-1/2"/Seat Tops

  32. Matthew Sims on October 30, 2021 at 6:56 pm

This is crazy. At work, we are alway talking about how our phones listen to us. Just this week, me and a friend of mine were talking about building a a really good shooting bench. I come home from work today, click on Outdoors with the Morgans and this video comes up and this is a video that i hadnt watched yet. Just may be something to this stuff about our phones listening to us. I dont really believe that but we have talked about it. Anyway, that looks like a nice bench. Thanks for taking to time to show this. Stay well, stay safe and yall HAVE A DAY

  33. john rehm on October 30, 2021 at 6:58 pm

OMG i have been using a speed square for ever but never to guide my skill saw and keep my cuts square! Thatโ€™s the most priceless tip I have ever gotten from a you tube video.

  34. Michael Sorrell on October 30, 2021 at 7:03 pm

Really awesome thanks I built one with my brother in law really appreciate the time and video ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  36. Howard Swing on October 30, 2021 at 7:06 pm

good use of material beefy construction

  37. RonAndHeather J on October 30, 2021 at 7:07 pm

Mike I am not seeing where the measurements are for the top and what size would you used.
Plan on building this this weekend and needing to know the type boards used on top and the dimensions

  38. Charlie Gardner on October 30, 2021 at 7:07 pm

Did you use 3" Deck screws?

  39. Len Walker on October 30, 2021 at 7:10 pm

This bench looks rock solid. A great prototype. I am going to build one for a right-handed shooter. That should cut some of the weight off. This gets me off to a great start. Thanks.

  40. Richard G. on October 30, 2021 at 7:11 pm

Sorry to say you won’t be building that beautiful shooting bench for a hundred dollars, with today’s lumber prices. you be looking closer to $200.00.OUCH

  41. Christopher Lange on October 30, 2021 at 7:12 pm

Great video do you have a cut list for the lumber?

  42. 1st Name Basis on October 30, 2021 at 7:12 pm

  43. Silent Stream on October 30, 2021 at 7:13 pm

Not sure you should have painted green wood before it’s hasn’t cured yet.

  44. JrFans88 on October 30, 2021 at 7:14 pm

I gave a thumbs up, just for the idea of using a speed square, as a saw guide

  45. Aaron Gamache on October 30, 2021 at 7:18 pm

Thanks for making this video! I was wondering what length the boards are that make the 45ยฐ angle on the deck

  46. Paul Sannino on October 30, 2021 at 7:19 pm

Mike, I learned something from watching you cut the board. Using the square as a guide, awesome trick.

  47. Mattsalas Salas on October 30, 2021 at 7:20 pm
