Good shooting considering the wind! Shotguns even fully rifled barrels will always give you unusual target results. The barrel heating up will through them off too. I’ve had great success with both the Remington Ascu-Tips and Copper Solids in my 220 Savage 220. I’m told that Remington has recalled some of the 12 GA ammo with these loadings recently. I’m trying to duplicate the Remington and the Hornaday SST’s with hand loaded slugs for my channel. Hoping to achieve similar accuracy at somewhat reduced costs. The Remington ammo is now in excess of $25 per box of five now! Nice video!

I installed the trigger spring kit in my mossy 500 really helps accuracy with slugs reduces trigger to 4 lbs

  3. Aron Koppold on July 18, 2023 at 4:35 am

Basically the same as the Hornady but solid copper

  4. 1776adb on July 18, 2023 at 4:35 am

Wind- distance – shotgun – you don’t owe explanation or excuse to anyone- good shooting.

  5. mark luchka on July 18, 2023 at 4:35 am

the bad groups are all you,the winchester bri sabots are the most accurate slugs ever made.they shoot sub 1 inch groups out of all the rifled guns ive shot them out of.

  6. publicdefender77 on July 18, 2023 at 4:36 am

Really good shooting with the wind. Grouping was what I expected. So many variables with shotguns. Great info and video!

  7. MR T on July 18, 2023 at 4:37 am

So windy on this test, check wind drift on slugs. Invalid test

  8. whitewiskerz on July 18, 2023 at 4:38 am

Thanks for this. Guess ill just stay with Hornady

  9. John Doe on July 18, 2023 at 4:38 am

what distance are you shooting. i am guessing 50yd.

  10. Carl Bell on July 18, 2023 at 4:38 am

This setup is really interesting, however, there is a very important detail that most people truly miss when shooting shotgun slugs. A shotgun shoots large, heavy bullets for slugs, with reasonable but slow velocity. With that said the recoil of this large, heavy load, that is slow, the barrel has a significant amount of recoil before the "bullet" exits the barrel! If the gun is not held tightly enough, and I mean seriously held down in the front area of the muzzle the "jump" created at a split second is more than enough to move a light weight shotgun "back" and "upward" enough to NEVER achieve constant groups! Please try this again shooting with you hand up on the barrel holding it down while "tamming" the recoil. Happy shooting..

  11. mark luchka on July 18, 2023 at 4:40 am

the faster the slug the faster the twist needed to stabilize the bullet, this is why most guns wont group hornady well.

Great video. I need to get my Remmy 870 and Ithaca Deer Slayer out of my safe and take them to the range. My 870 came with a rifled deer barrel. I tested the same Hornady and Remington Copper solids through mine with the open sights that came on the barrel and got about the same results at 50 yards you got at 87. The Ithaca Deer Slayer I traded a Savage 243 for it. It’s a smooth bore. I have no idea what choke it has. The guy I traded with always used Brenneke slugs with it and got good accuracy. I couldn’t find Brenneke but found the cheap Remington Sluggers at Wal Mart. Those shot good groups through my gun as well. When I say good I mean about the same as your better groups with rifled slugs.

  13. Erick Ringo on July 18, 2023 at 4:43 am

With my Savage 220 I get 1" groups at 100 yards with Federal Trophy Copper.

  14. PyroHockey729 on July 18, 2023 at 4:43 am

Some ammo like certain gun from what learn and my shot gun like the sst

  15. Pixx4you on July 18, 2023 at 4:44 am

    Dead deer, either way.

  16. Ricky Broussard on July 18, 2023 at 4:44 am

Those accutips are some powerful hog droppers

  17. Magua136 on July 18, 2023 at 4:47 am

    Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng winded sumbitch…

  18. Aron Koppold on July 18, 2023 at 4:48 am

    I think it’s a 50 caliber for 12 gauge and 45 in 20 gauge with Hornady sst

  19. poor fat man on July 18, 2023 at 4:50 am

I have a 8:35 Mossberg and with the Winchester 1 oz Sabbath slugs like you shot at first my group was 1 in

  20. Ledmetacdc on July 18, 2023 at 4:52 am

Searched around for a video about sabot slugs through a rifled choke, glad I found this video. Very informative.

  21. Kendall Fields on July 18, 2023 at 4:52 am

2 shots is the max. 3rd shot had to wait for the barrel to cool. My first two shots are always half inch. If I let the barrel cool the third will
    Be right on them.

  22. Bomb ass swiss steak on July 18, 2023 at 4:56 am

Damn that was really windy out on the range. You did an amazing job for the conditions.

  23. David Wright on July 18, 2023 at 4:58 am

Buy a roll of tape for the target. Easier to hit when it’s not floating around

  24. eric ashley on July 18, 2023 at 4:59 am

what kind of scope are you using?

  25. Titus Glaze on July 18, 2023 at 4:59 am

Let your barrel cool down between shots open the chamber wait 3 minutes

  26. Jawad majeed ahmed on July 18, 2023 at 5:01 am

    Get it!

  27. Ed Wolfram on July 18, 2023 at 5:02 am

I have the exact same gun put a different scope on it than came in the package deal. It is a tack driver out to 250y if it is completely cold with sst’s. If I shoot consecutive shots it always walks on shot 3 4 and five high and right.

  28. TpXng on July 18, 2023 at 5:10 am

I like my Hornady American Whitetail 12g sabot. Drop a big mature doe at 60yard tumble down and expire. Check my video out.

  29. Kristi Buttler on July 18, 2023 at 5:10 am

I’ve done a lot of searching over the years and at least in my experience and my guns, I found the faster the sabot was driven the worse the accuracy was. I had the best luck with Reminton accutip, copper solids and the now gone lightfield sabots. Anything in the 1800fps plus range I just chased all over the paper. Now that I’m older and maybe wiser I use the old foster slugs in a smooth bore. very close in accuracy but so much cheaper to shoot. Thanks for the video, awesome!

  30. BloodyBuzzard Bindel on July 18, 2023 at 5:10 am

Year late. I have always felt like the sst are hard to get consistent results. I recently started reading more about twist rates and I guess the Remington riffled barrels like the heavier projectile and the velocity is too high on the sst.

  31. Aron Koppold on July 18, 2023 at 5:10 am

The Remington is a 58 caliber

  32. Aron Koppold on July 18, 2023 at 5:11 am

I’ve had good luck with federal trophy copper sabot slugs in my Mossberg rifled barrel

  33. Nathan Lambshead on July 18, 2023 at 5:11 am

Thanks for the vid. Do you/have you ever tested 20 ga. and 410 bore?

  34. Gassed Up Bro! on July 18, 2023 at 5:12 am

You have to remember that you are shooting different rounds, they are not going to shoot straight unless you consistently shoot one as well.

  35. James O'Brien on July 18, 2023 at 5:14 am

I hit a steel round plate (the size of a paper plate) at 243 yards 9 out of 10 times. If you’re hitting that accurate with a 12ga, whatever you are hunting is bagged. 12ga H&R Ultra Slug Hunter with Nikon Shotgun 2-7 4 circle BDC scope. Mine likes Remington Accutip 3"

  36. Sigdorsey Sigler on July 18, 2023 at 5:14 am

The Ole slug guns are not known to be acrate. And this is why deer live longer in the shot gun zones… if there not wounded and die a lingering death. I’ve also burned some powder. And I know.

  37. Coop Cooper on July 18, 2023 at 5:15 am

Hornady SST is what we use in Ohio deer hunting. Can’t use rifles so turn your 12ga. Into a rifle.

  38. Bomb ass swiss steak on July 18, 2023 at 5:15 am

So I have a Remington model 1300 with a rifled barrel and im trying to set it up from some some home defense even though I don’t have a smooth bore Barrel. Right now I have the first two shots set up with two winchester super x sabot slugs and three Remington 00 bushot shells. I really want to be able to have some slugs just in case a neighbor needs help since it would be a pretty good distance and I hate the thought of shoot buckshot from a rifled Barrel so I figures I can have a few slugs to immediately confront the threat without the risk of collateral damage and after that I would hope the threat is taken out and if not I’m hoping anyone behind or around the threat will be far from my target. I could use alot of help on this subject because it’s hard to find a smooth bore 1300 Barrel and I honestly don’t have the money. My dad has a ruger p89 in his room but he’s not very aware about what’s going on and I wake up easy from anything so im the security of our house, know about anything going on and always check on any weird noises in or outside of the house. I could use a ton of help on what round I keep in my shotgun when I only have a rifled Barrel for now. I’ve went back and forth from sabot slugs and buckshot but settled on a couple of sabot slugs than buckshot so I can make sure the crazy spread from a rifled Barrel with buckshot doesn’t hit anyone I don’t want it to. I would seriously love your input and if I had the money to get a smooth bore Barrel or a handgun I defiently would. I use to keep the handgun in my room but my dad wants to keep it near him since he sleeps on the main floor but he doesn’t wake up to anything and it scares me. I also have a 20 gauge with a smooth bore I could use but I need to buy some buckshot. What do you think I should do? I would love to get your opinion!!

  39. Gregc247 on July 18, 2023 at 5:15 am

2 issues with the setup, reciever scope mounts are a no go on slug guns and can cause erratic groups, canteliever mounts are way better, #2 that scope is mounted way too high

  40. Brian Simpkins on July 18, 2023 at 5:17 am

Your adjusting for each shell data is distorted

  41. Tommy Williams on July 18, 2023 at 5:18 am

you have developed a flinch .

  42. Allen r on July 18, 2023 at 5:19 am

Awesome video.. 1 suggestion and I use shotguns a fair bit even tho I can use whatever I want where 1 live..I personally use rifled barrel on my 500 with standard slugs. Every 5 shots I give it a good cleaning to clear any slight lead fouling out of barrel but I do not take barrel off at all to clean a pump. I do not put scope on gun to see what slugs shoot the most accurate I use standard open sight at 50 yards with good rest.. that rear sight should never ever have to be pushed to the side so it over hangs from the rear sight ramp if it does then that bullet will not be the one.. federals for my gun shoot about 2 foot right of Winchester or Remington sluggers.. Sabots are the same way but when you find one that works they will just discontinue it and your out of luck. Once you find bullet that allows you to have rear sight dead center or slightly left or right in rear sight ramp but not over hanging then put scope on and enjoy..

Go to the other range if u r better there. Never heard that excuse before.

Maybe sight in your firearms “before“ you Video. Professionals script their video and follow it.

Plan out what you will do. Your videos could be so awesome, but they’re not.

Looks like u have fun. That’s great. If you want a big channel, get it together Dude !!!

  44. poor fat man on July 18, 2023 at 5:20 am

It looks pretty windy watching the target jump around

  45. noah salemi on July 18, 2023 at 5:21 am

It doesn’t really matter about speed all that much it’s mainly just penetration Native American started hunting with bows and arrows arrows didn’t go that fast but they penetrated

  46. Jared Borja on July 18, 2023 at 5:26 am

Love the intro brother and the content, cant beat guns and cars.

  47. poor fat man on July 18, 2023 at 5:26 am

It’s about time seems like Sabbath slugs nobody else on YouTube knows about them

  48. Carl Trano on July 18, 2023 at 5:28 am

My Mossberg bolt action slug gun does not like the faster ammo crazy results with fast ammo. 2 inch groups at 100 yards with the Remington’s. My 870 with a Rifle choke and red dot scope And the Remington ammo was just unbelievable never in my wildest dreams did I believe he could shoot a group as tight as it did On par with the bolt action slug gun. But we now get to use straight wall in Southern Michigan so that’s a game changer. Ps I only use the copper Solid Remington’s.

  49. David on July 18, 2023 at 5:28 am

Really like the copper solid rem. Can’t get em anymore last I checked.

  50. EDDIE White on July 18, 2023 at 5:29 am

The Remington solid copper hollow points were tac drivers out of and rem870 20in rifled barrel. My cousin has it now. The winchester BRI sabot slugs were originally made by and company in California BRI.
They made 2 types hunting and law enforcement with and harder slug.
They will shoot in both rifled and smoth bore. They were made for smooth bore. Winchester bought the company and market them for rifled barrels and chokes I think. Winchester does not market them for smooth bore. They are designed after the sabot round that modern us tanks shoot. There smooth bore as well.
