I see that you use a leather wheel to take off the burr why not use a felt wheel ?

  4. Phillip Nunya on December 3, 2021 at 9:12 pm

I understand why they use 1095 for most knives, but why for defensive knives? Defensive knives don’t need great edge retention and sit in their sheathes most of the time. 1095 just makes them rust. I would really prefer they use stainless steel for most of your defensive knives. That’s the only reason why I’ve never bought one from them.

Great vid. Have a Back Bite arriving today. My only gripe is that workmanship is great, but the overly thick stock impedes the edge that can be had and the usefulness for cutting tasks and uses that aren’t pure combat, military abuse scenarios. The provided stock thickness could never be fully needed unless a pipe was employed over the handle and used as a pry bar. The stock is much thicker than any human hand could ever test or need. Yes, points will be thicker, along with edges, so abuse of the point is minimized, but I can’t imagine if a Tops fillet knife would ever be practical…. LOL

  6. Matthew McCalister on December 3, 2021 at 9:15 pm

We use 1095 because it’s easy to work with! Why use a more quality material that would require different tools? lmao.
Also- don’t talk about the "hand work" that goes on when there are only 2 steps in the process you do by hand… Yes I am still going to buy a knife from you but there is no need to stretch the truth.

  7. BCK on December 3, 2021 at 9:17 pm

They are my favorite knife company right now. I have 4 tops knives so far, and love them to pieces!

  8. Elrond_Hubbard on December 3, 2021 at 9:21 pm

I have a C.A.T. coming in the mail, can’t wait! But, if I could think of one small quibble, it’d be the excessive writing on the blades.

  9. James M on December 3, 2021 at 9:24 pm

Nasty ass heat treat. Quenching in motor oil how has ohs not raped them.

  10. Thant Cin Thein on December 3, 2021 at 9:25 pm

Awesome! Outstanding and quality making the knifes. Do they have outstanding warranty? Like ESEE knifes? If they do I want to buy more than 5 knifes over 250 plus bucks each knife.

  20. Jason Miller on December 3, 2021 at 9:30 pm

I noticed my TOPS I.C.E Dagger smelt really weird. I carry mine as a neck knife. It literally makes my shirts stink. I washed it with warm soapy water, no help. I scrubbed the shit out of it, no help. Took the G-10 handles off and noticed the two tone thin orange part sticks like industrial oil or glue. It’s hard to explain but I had to leave the handles off.

  21. alienresearchlab on December 3, 2021 at 9:31 pm

TOPS are the best fixed blade knives out there – sorry Ka-Bar. Semper Fi! 10/10 video.

  22. Rambo-bine on December 3, 2021 at 9:31 pm

I will love my Tops Kukuri !

  23. LAME NATURE on December 3, 2021 at 9:32 pm

  24. Jeep Guy on December 3, 2021 at 9:32 pm

Well that settles it……………………..I need to buy a TOPS!

  27. Cthe Huston on December 3, 2021 at 9:34 pm

I just bought a TOPS knife today, and I can’t wait to take it out on my next adventure. I’m retired from the military, but strangely enough, took up backpacking after taking off my dog tags. I was drawn to TOPS by this YouTube channel and the company itself by their reputation.

  28. L.V.I. Bushcraft and Survival on December 3, 2021 at 9:37 pm

TOPS Knives are some of the best knives out there – at any price, they can be fully relied on in any situation without exception, and they have something for everyone. Even at full MSRP, a TOPS brand knife is well worth it. Great video.

  29. B_M_F_710 on December 3, 2021 at 9:38 pm

Love your knives! Stop sending your knives with that crap ballistic nylon sheath. Literally every review criticizes them. They just get thrown away.. So you are basically paying an employee to make a product everyone hates and ultimately throws away.. Again love your knives, but the ballistic nylon sheaths are garbage! Use Kydex, leather, or Boltaron please!

  30. easyki84 on December 3, 2021 at 9:39 pm

That fat dude is doing the whole work.

  31. Captain Skippy on December 3, 2021 at 9:40 pm

Neat video. I’d love to work in a knife company, but I’d never take a check home.

  32. Nonja Ninja on December 3, 2021 at 9:42 pm

I want an Operator 7 really bad now.

  33. Michael T on December 3, 2021 at 9:42 pm

Cool but still too pricey. Wish they sold budget models of their knives that didn’t have all the hand work done on them for us poor folk

  34. LD on December 3, 2021 at 9:43 pm

Great stuff, I ordered a mil spie 5 right after this

  35. Tyler Haley on December 3, 2021 at 9:44 pm

  38. shortylickens69 on December 3, 2021 at 9:48 pm

I wonder if the TOPS representative could tell me specifically what people in combat situations are purchasers of their knives?

  39. J.Cunningstunts on December 3, 2021 at 9:48 pm

impressive made in USA or not, a good job is a good job!

  40. Tom Servo on December 3, 2021 at 9:50 pm

My favorite knife is my Tops Longhorn Bowie. It holds a good edge, has taken a lot of abuse. Some people don’t like the rounded spine but i have no issues, i think it may even add some strength when batoning. It is as comfortable to use and will do anything that my esee 6 will but looks cooler and has a more versatile handle.. but the sheath was absolute garbage. I doubt i will ever replace it as my favorite knife so i spent another $200+ On a custom sheath from patriot leather. If i ever break this knife i can just buy another for around $150 but i will have this sheath forever. While i love alot of Tops knives i should add their customer service sucks. Wanted to buy one of their knives minus the serrations and they were absolute dicks to me about it.

  41. Dash on December 3, 2021 at 9:51 pm

Thats about as good as 1095 gets, but they’re missing one step in the differential heat treat, as shown by the heat treat line thats revealed by the acid wash. The entire tip appears to have the same hardness qualities as the edge. (brittle?)
The missing step is putting a small amount of clay (or other heat absorbing material that stays put) along the spine starting where it tapers down to and around the tip just behind the sharpened edge.
The extra material will make the thinner tip section of the spine behave like the thicker rearward area during heat treat.
The Japanese have been heat treating there katana swords that way for centuries.

  42. Space Force on December 3, 2021 at 9:51 pm

"We make knives for real operators, you know…. guys overseas in combat." pulls out absurd mall ninja karambit.

  44. Eric Smith on December 3, 2021 at 9:52 pm
