Timney has been in the game a long time, producing high quality triggers for both ARs and bolt action rifles, and that’s readily apparent in the two drop-in models shown in the video: The 3.5lb Timney Competition and the 1.5lb Timney Calvin Elite
►PROS◄
☑ Huge reduction of trigger pull weight over a milspec trigger
☑ Minimal trigger takeup
☑ Audible trigger reset
☑ Zero trigger overtravel
☑ Easy to install
►CONS◄
✗ Not for use in Pistol Caliber Carbines
✗ Set screws have the tendency to walk out if not secured with locktite
✗ Calvin Elite model is definitely only for range and competition use

why shouldnt the calvin elite be used in a pistol caliber carbine?
What kind of trigger jig are you using?
I was just about to order the Elite for my pistol carbine. Now why dont you recomend it?
Getting the elite for a 308 pistol build I’m doing.
I have a Timney installed on an AR15-22 by Smith and Wesson. I purchased it as a 3 pound single stage and discovered that on this particular rifle, you cannot use that rate as you will get FT Fires’s. I called Timney and they knew what the problem was. They told me to send it back to them, they would increase it to 4 pounds and the problem would be cured. I had in back from Timney within 10 days. It works great. Good customer support and a really great trigger. What more can I say. I have since bought two more.
wish you would test the Timney DH3 (Daniel Horner)
Why is the Elite not recomend for pistol carbine? Because I could have sware u showed it shooting in a pistol carbine..
Boy look at those little hands
Why not to the carbine comment?
Boy put that banana down and let me braid yo beard.
I bought the Timney competition trigger from my local ffl. He lost one of the set screws. So I called up Timney and they had like 3 sets sent out to me. No questions asked.
1/7 of a banana….kinda fruity
Dh3
If my rifle was exclusively used for competition, this would probably be my trigger, but as it is also used as a home defense gun, and my go to in WROL or SHTF, I’ll stick to my Geissele SSP.
What would the absolute best trigger be for battle????
I am so excited that PEW PEW is finally doing some videos!!!! You are my go to for all my research before I buy something for my builds.
I have the Timney 3lb comp in my AR15 & love it. It’s so light & crisp with very little movement. Highly recommend.
I’ll bet alot of customers have to call for replacement like I did. Yes they sent me a new set of screw very quickly. Magnetic drivers for the set screws is the only way to go.
Curious to see how it compares to the Hiperfire!
Do you recommend using it on an SBR?
Hello, would you suggest the Timney Calvin elite for a casual AR-15 user? I have an M&P sport 2. I value accuracy and don’t mind spending the money. Do you think the durability is there? Is it worth the money?
What trigger jig are you using? I can’t make out the logo.
if the split is 0.115 to 0.12 sec than that’s like shooting at 500+ rounds per min. That’s insanely fast and makes those binary trigger systems having no advantage whatsoever.
I’m ging to have to add pears and bananas to my shopping list before I can squeeze the melon.
Almost as informative as entertaining. Thanks again PEW PEW!!

Have you ditched the stock trigger in your AR-15? What setup are you running? Post up below, friends!
I received this trigger today and the housing screwing were not included.
I don’t have varminter style AR. Mine is a practical minded patrol rifle. I like the nickel boron coated two stage match type triggers. Putting a benchrest trigger in a hunting rifle is dumb.
DL info
I went with the ALG Defense, ACT trigger. In my oppinion, a great trigger at a great price.
Trigger Wisperers!!
I Have to say you are Awesome! Do you know how rare it is to start watching a video on youtube without the speaker’s waste of my time? You were straight to the point; you didn’t continue to speak about nothing just because people are listening! Thank you, John!! Loved it
Better than Geissele hands down
Just got this Timney Calvin Elite in today, put it in my DDV7, IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! Thank you Pew Pew, I seen it on here the other day and decided to give it a shot and I do not regret it. The price did almost make me cry…… But worth it.
Prices?…..
Thank you for a great quick write up on these triggers! Which triggers do you recommend for self-defense use in an AR?
Just bought one today for my sig m400 tread, I can’t wait to test it out. Thanks for the info about using locktite
jason Sanchez, he said the comp trigger is not recommended, timney makes a pistol caliber trigger for the ar plat, I installed one on my STG-9 it is perfection as is the other 11 AR15 timney triggers I own, absolute perfection in my opinion
Thanks. Can we get the timney trigger for glock review next?
Does it make a difference if the banana is organic or not ????
Why for only competition/range use?
I’m running a PSA EPT trigger with JP 3.5lb springs and stainless pins. I mirror polished the pins and trigger contact points by hand also. It’s no Timney drop-in but it’s worlds better than the regular NiB coated milspec units and I paid basically 20 bucks for the setup.
For reference, it’s about 1/264th a watermelon 😁
👍
This or geissele trigger
Great company. Awesome triggers. I have installed them in two AR’s and in a Remington 700. Timney for me, is not just a awesome product. It’s also a confidence buy. They have been around long before the AR after market product explosion. Their a solid company that will be around long after many companies cut and run.
