S&W M&P 9mm Pistol | Disassembly & Cleaning

Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm disassembly and how to clean m&p pistols. Before cleaning, we do some shooting with this S&W M&P pistol at my local gun range. As always a good gun cleaning kit with the needed tools can make the cleaning process much easier and quicker, but be cautious of cheap tools and cleaners as they can also damage a firearms finish.

This was the first pistol I purchased (used) and it remains one of my favorites in the collection. It’s an extremely reliable firearm that’s easy to handle. The ergonomics are fantastic, made even better for each user with the interchangeable backstraps on the grip. It has a decent out of box trigger, with a good size trigger guard for use with gloved hands if needed. It also has an integrated picatinny rail for mounting any lights, lasers, or mini bayonets.

In this time lapse type video, I show the proper and thorough way to clean, oil, and generally maintain your semi-auto pistol. This gun cleaning process can be used on any pistol, of any caliber, and only the field strip process would vary between variants.

Popular M&P Accessories ▶ https://amzn.to/2WX8I6X

Other must-have S&W M&P Accessories include a durable Range Bag to easily transport your firearm, magazines, and other range accessories. Extra magazines, which are great for training at the firing range, are always a good upgrade for any range bag. And, if you want to load magazines quickly, or have a hard time loading mags, check out the MagLULA Pistol Magazine Fast Loaders, which are universal for semi-auto pistols from 9mm to .45ACP, and make the process very simple and quick.

10-Round M&P Mags ▶ https://bit.ly/SmithMP910RdMag

The M&P makes a great carry gun (exposed or concealed), and a reliable Holster from a reputable company is always a popular accessory for any semi-auto pistol or revolver. I really like the Safariland Paddle Holsters, which are minimal, effective, long lasting, and easy to draw from with still having good pistol retention when holstered.

If you have any personal techniques or tools that you use when cleaning firearms, comment down below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to help!

Thanks for the video, now my S&W is clean. You didn’t mention anything about the main spring, so I had to slow the cleaning portions to see if you actually touched it. Some strange reason on my M&P 9mm I don’t have a Safety lever. Good video though.

I sent my S&W 36 to S&W for repair in early July, I got it back
in February. First off, they got my contact information wrong so I never
got the estimate so I could approve the work. Then they had my gun down
for the wrong work and not what I asked for. Then my gun got
misplaced! Then in late January when I called to ask about the progress
of the work, I got a very combative customer service representative. I
AM NEVER BUYING ANOTHER S&W AGAIN!!!

  30. *IAC* on May 22, 2023 at 4:52 am

@3:05 Big FYI Gents, at least on my M&P9 without a Safety; you’ll see two Pins/Posts sticking out in the Ejection Port.
The one he’s refering to is not the rightside spring loaded Pin, but a 3rd "hidden" Pin folded up beneath the leftside (larger) Pin.
Use the Tool to push ‘that one’ down !

  41. Matthew Hartup on May 22, 2023 at 5:06 am

    like that gun grease idea

  42. Leo Guy on May 22, 2023 at 5:07 am

One of a few videos that should the proper removal of the M&P slide, personally don’t use stainless steel wire or bore brushes anymore, been more than 10 years since I shot all lead bullets.
Rarely use grease it can cause malfunctions in cold weather, same for FrogLube. I use Breakthrough or Gun-Werkz as cleaners and Weapon Shield as a lubricant all are non-toxic.
