S&W M&P 45 Shield Pistol : Big Bore Carry

My first EDC was a Taurus Millennium Pro PT145. It was a compact 10+1 .45acp.
Being striker fired, it eventually began having FTFs.
But the reason why I sold it, was because I shot at a tree stump once. The bullet deflected, tumbled thru the air and landed at my feet, still spinning. The bullet was perfect, not even damaged. .45acp out of a 3" or less barrel is ridiculous. Probably like 700fps. .45acp needs a full sized frame, full length barrel.

So I guess my question is are you saying that only ladies can carry the m&p shield cuz I carry one and I’m not a lady thanks for the stereotypical labels appreciate that I figured it’d be a unisex gun you know like a unisex bathroom so like anybody could use it I figured that’s why Smith & Wesson would design it with multiple features that would appeal to both a male and a female I don’t know though I guess you just assume that every girl has a small hand is the weak person and can’t handle a lot of recoil but I like those principles in a gun too and I’m a man so I guess I’m just confused why do you keep associating one specific type of gun with female usage I say that a firearm can be used by any individual regardless of religion race Creed sex gender or orientation

HI SIR i have a question 2 years ago i had a accident on a meat band saw AND CUT my DAM trigger finger off to the first joint on my right hand now with that said i can still shoot i just put my finger in deeper now to the question on my 45acp 1911 i can load my clips easy but on my new 9mm shield i bought for my wife she can not load one round in the clip and me it is easer BUT I still need the help of a COAL MINE MULE TO HELP PUSH in the bullets are all the SHIELD 9MM OR 45ACP this DAM hard to load THANK YOU for reading this and GOD BLESS LARRY

The S&W Shield is one of the best carry pistols produced, in my opinion and experience with them. When somebody says "CQC handgun" or "close combat pistol", I think of the Shield. Easily deployable in a variety of carry positions, including ankle, IWB, or shoulder. You can even use the pistol as an extension of your fist if you need to subdue a violent assailant with less-than-lethal force once you have passed the legal threshold of shooting.

This is going to be my next purchase. I carry the shield 9 now, but in my opinion, if you can get the same sized pistol but with a much larger bullet and only sacrifice one round of capacity, then why the heck not do it? Yes I know, so many guys will argue that the ballistic gel tests show that 9 mm is a more effective self-defense round, but I just think that’s a matter of opinion. For me personally, if the shield 45 is almost identical in size and weight to the shield 9mm, then why not go with a much larger bullet? But that’s just me

Felt I needed to add my 2 cents. GREAT GUN! Thought I’d have a problem shooting it, at first, cuz I got big hands, ( one friend used to tell me I had a 5lb ham on the end of my arm, when I made a fist…lol), but this thing rides good in my hand, and runs like a champ! The only issue I have had, was ammo related. It DOES NOT like ANY of the steel cased ammo! Guy owed me some money and gave me a half case of Wolf, and I have never been able to get more than 5 rounds in a magazine, for some odd reason. So it sits in my safe as a last ditch for defense. When there is absolutely NO other option! ( FYI, folks…. if I reach that point, things will have definitely become DESPERATE!) Just a word to the wise, people. Jus’ sayin’! Happy shootin’, my friends.

That texturing is the greatest thing ive ever used, coming from a px4 the shield is a dream.

I added talon grips because the texture to very rough against the skin for IWB carry in the summer. I love this pistol. I have two of them. Both work well. I agree with Sootch, the pulse is nice, not bad at all when shooting. I prefer the safety. If you don;t like it, just don;t engage it. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

Critical Duty 220gr +p are straight up lasers out of mine to 30yds. Amazing for such a short barrel. One gun I can say I would never get rid of. Got mine on grabagun with the built in CT laser and safety for $280 after rebate.

I own one. 3.3 – 45 and I had the gun smith install AMERIGLO night sights with a APEX enhanced trigger system. if you don’t want those added on the gun still works great right out of the box. everyone that sees that gun and shoots it really likes it and being a 45 is that much better. but man it is very hard to find a 45. so you might have to get the 9mm which is still a good buy. and sootch00 thanks again for a great review..

Your comparing a first gen 9 to a third gen 45. My third gen 9 has all the thing that your third gen 45 has as far as textures and scalloping . Oh and it has a external safety.

Might get some hate but I’m a huge fan of the Springfield XDS 45, nothing bad about the Smith and Wesson, I watched your video on the xds and It helped a lot, thanks for making honest reviews and giving good information!
