Smiths Issues Finally Fixed: The Best M&P: S&W M&P 2.0 compact

Smiths Issues Finally Fixed: The Best M&P: S&W M&P 2.0 compact

The Smith & Wesson M&P series has been a crux in my craw for far too long. Smith ALMOST got a banger with this gun.. but there was just enough wrong with the original that it took me from looking at it as competition for the greats to HATING it. Well, with the newest 2.0 release, Smith & Wesson may have done it!

  3. Awesome Dave on June 15, 2023 at 4:49 am

Thanks for the review. 2 things…what do you think of the metal 2.0 and when is that sweatshirt going on the site?
I picked up the metal grip and it was a little lack luster in the texture for me. Maybe it shoots different but I do like the metal grips. I have the icarus precision sig grips and they are hinting of a glock grip in the future. They are amazing but pricy.

  4. Anthony on June 15, 2023 at 4:50 am

Anyone with a 1.0 can upgrade to a 2.0 back strap as long as you use the 2.0 frame tool to accommodate the 2.0 small, med, medium large , large strap. The 1.0 pro series has a better lighter lb trigger than a standard 1.0 and will perform almost the same as the 2.0 in the standard & pro series designation. I have yet to see anyone compare the huge difference in triggers and lbs of pull / break on a standard 1.0 vs the 1.0 pro series or core model.

I’ve been carrying the 2.0 4.6 inch 10mm all fall and winter with a swampfox sentinel and tlr1-HL. Awesome pistol. Instantly one of my favorites.

  6. Pacific Blue on June 15, 2023 at 4:56 am

These polymer guns are reasonable in price to obtain and fairly easy to sell. I just wait until the one I’m interested goes on sale. It seems we’re in the golden age of affordable, accurate, and reliable pistols.

    CZ makes awesome shit!

  8. Jedi391 on June 15, 2023 at 4:58 am

How do you rate the 2.0’s accuracy (particularly at 25 yards) vs the Gen 5 Glocks?

  9. TBMB95 on June 15, 2023 at 5:00 am

I got the optic ready 4 inch with the gross hinged trigger for a steal (400) I dropped an apex flatty in with a Holosun 507c supported by a C&H precision metal plate.

My favorite pistol I’ve ever owned

Cut out all the BS fluff and get right to the point. NOT subscribed.

  11. Paolo on June 15, 2023 at 5:01 am

The whole accuracy thing is a little goofy
you just shoot the CZ’s a little better
You have more trigger time behind them and they probably fit in your hand a little better
The reality is most if not all handguns will be able to shoot more accurately than you ever will and your the one shooting one or the other more or less accurately

  12. JPG_SIG10 on June 15, 2023 at 5:03 am

IMHO, both the Overwatch Precision TAC (OPT) flat-faced trigger, and the Timney Alpha (TA) trigger, are superior to the Apex Tactical (AT) trigger.

I’ve got the OPT trigger in my S&W M&P 9mm ProSeries CORE M2.0 5", and the TA trigger in my 10mm M2.0 4.6". My 9mm M2.0 4" compact and 3.6" subcompact are both running AT triggers.

I prefer the OPT trigger to the TA. Unfortunately, the OPT is currently only made for the S&W M&P M2.0 9mm and 40S&W pistols, thus I have the TA trigger in my 10mm. The trigger bar of the OPT trigger isn’t long enough to properly fit the M&P 10mm and 45ACP pistols, thus it will partially block the magazine well of the deeper grip framed pistols, while also not quite reaching the sear cam.

i love the m&p 2.0, especially the grip texture, angle and ergonomics.
i have 2 full-size(the best size) m&p 2.0’s, both chambered in my favorite and the ideal cartridge caliber, ie; .40 s&w obviously!
but 180gr was always too heavy for the .40 s&w, great for the 10mm auto though, between 135gr minimum and 165gr maximum parameters(with the winchester usa ready defense 170gr .40 s&w being the sole exception) is best, with 155gr/150gr bullet weight being ideal

  14. curt k81 on June 15, 2023 at 5:04 am

I was blown away by how accurate the mp 2.0 9c is. Normally a short barrel means less range but with this gun I was just drilling every plate.it’s a compact that really feels like a full sized almost. I love the mp 2.0 line they are really great values. I have the 45 the 9c and the full size 9 and I love them. Big improvement over the first releases.

  15. Ole Boy on June 15, 2023 at 5:04 am

A CZ P10C is no more accurate than the M&P 2.0, Glock, or HK. That’s just poppycock. Nothing against the CZ, but it’s no better. Sorry!

  16. Azdave on June 15, 2023 at 5:05 am

Is the optic cover plastic or steel? Great video.
    Thanks in advance.

  17. Robert Wehlau on June 15, 2023 at 5:05 am

Most reviewers reviewed the guns however you reviewed yourself….

  18. Delta Whiskey on June 15, 2023 at 5:07 am

Okay…..I know its just me….but I can’t get past those gigantic skyscraper sights. As much as I would love to buy a new optic ready 2.0….I’m just gonna stick with my non-optic version with low profile night sights and a weapon light.

  19. livecountrysoul on June 15, 2023 at 5:10 am

I kinda like the format you used for this video

  20. Lee Samuelson on June 15, 2023 at 5:11 am

The grit some feel is the trigger bar running over the safety plunger. has nothing to do with plastic trigger shoe. I put a dab of Lucas gun grease on the plunger, and it is smooth as butter. Smoother take up than a Walther PDP. YES, I OWNED ONE> dumped it to my brother. Or a person could polish the plunger and where the bar hit a bit. Light trigger pull. Better than the CZ p10C I had by far and even glock G19 with over watch precision trigger. I had a P10C also. A friend has it now. Like the Smith better. The optic mounting on the Smith is superior to the CZ. CZ is the crappy Glock style where you first mount plate to the slide then optic to the plate.( as with the Walther. CZ doesn’t come with a plate, You have to BUY one where at least Walther will send you one for free. So, C&H was better than trying to get one from CZ which at the time was not available when I got my CZ. The Smith the optic screws DIRECTLY into the slide. The plate is just a locating spacer. still I use a C&H which takes up gap fore and aft of optic. Plus the sights on some of their optic guns are not all enough to use with an optic. Screws are much longer too for the Smith vs a few threads on the CZ and Glock plates. unless you use the C&H but then the Smith still has larger and longer screws. To me the New Smith Optics ready is more gun for the money than it’s competition and shoots just as well. BTW the one my son has like mine had no grit at all. Did not put grease on the plunger. oh and long term durability? well take the Slide off the Walther PDP. Very small, short skinny slide rails. Probably the smallest I have seen on a gun. Pathetically small. The M&P are thicker and longer. Which do you think will create more SLOP in the future. By the way I have owned every gun I mentioned and just have the Smith left!

If I already didn’t have and love my P10C this would be my next choice..but since I’ve purchased the FN 509 CC Edge, it’s slowly inching its way up the chain for my go to edc

  23. Lucas ㅤ ㅤㅤ on June 15, 2023 at 5:15 am

Still recommend this m&p? Looking to get my first “do all” pistol ( carry/ home defense) and I’m between this exact pistol and a Glock 19. Just can’t justify the current price for an mos glock

  24. Skoonieg88 on June 15, 2023 at 5:17 am

    M&P 2.0 9mm 3.6” or Glock 43x 🤔 limited to 10rds in my state smh

  25. William Lee on June 15, 2023 at 5:17 am

The Smith is more accurate than your ability to shoot, and that’s true for every gun you mentioned.

  26. Kyle Wood on June 15, 2023 at 5:18 am

I love the CZ’s too, but with my minor arthritis that smaller slide really hinders me when activating the slide. The Smith 2.0 doesn’t hinder me, that’s why I’ve chosen that as my CC gun.

  27. FtwRogue on June 15, 2023 at 5:20 am

Why do people buy a certain gun just to Frankenstein it up and totally change it up?

  29. mandapalque on June 15, 2023 at 5:21 am

Thanks for this video. I love my M&P40 2.0 but it also makes sense that the CZ is better for you since you shot it consistently. If you have the chance to put the APEX trigger to your M&P, it might amaze you.

  30. Oddball on June 15, 2023 at 5:24 am

I just got mine on 23 Feb. 2023 in Central FL and I have to say I was very impressed with the pistol! Out of the box, it was very accurate and pleasant to shoot. I also have a Glock Model 45 (9mm) and a Kimber (the Shadow and yes it works) and a Taurus Commander 1911. But that being said, I think my new carry gun will be the S&W 40. I usually carry the 1911, but for now, it will be the S&W. The ammo is also very cheap – $15.00 a box of 50- and I also used Blazer Brass and aluminum (165 gr.) and both fed just fine. The brass was only $21 a box of 50. The Tier One training 180 gr. ammo is the $15.00 a box of 50. I also used Sig Sauer V-Crown JHP 180gr. That preformed very well. It all shot very well and had great accuracy every shot. And that was another for getting back into the .40 cal. was the ammo prices. Can’t beat it. I really enjoy the videos, please keep them going. The S&W 40 was $699.00 before tax. Well worth it.

  31. Snake215 on June 15, 2023 at 5:24 am

Mine iv only had it at the range once and put about 100 rounds tru it but I got a few jams, now I don’t really trust it enough to carry it and haven’t had a chance to go back to the range to see if anything has changes since last time

  32. Keith Wilmo on June 15, 2023 at 5:25 am

I like the gun because I have the 5 inch barrel which I love so I’m looking at the price right compact would be just as good and I’m used to shooting a 5 inch barrel so 4 1/2 inch barrel wouldn’t be that bad in my opinion which other gun is a good gun compared to Smith & Wesson?

  33. Blane Ahm on June 15, 2023 at 5:26 am

I mean you are the one who said Walther PDP optics cut will break eventually. Now you are praising then slamming Smith and Wesson LOL. I don’t own SW handguns but man, I’ve shot them before and they are super accurate.

  34. Chargerus Prime 4014 on June 15, 2023 at 5:28 am

I noticed with mine, mine is exactly like yours, just has a thumb safety, that if I have my thumb on the safety, it actually gives me better recoil control. It shoots really well and right out of the box, it’s almost lights out accurate. For me at least anyways. I actually had to sand my grip down in certain areas SLIGHTLY, not much just for more comfort whilst shooting. It carries well, it’s lightweight but not so light you forget it’s there, the sight picture with the suppressor height sights is phenomenal and I’ll say it’s a fun gun to take to the range and cheap too!.

  35. 62jape on June 15, 2023 at 5:28 am

I was hoping he’d stop to take a shit as we toured his day.

  36. Jayman133 on June 15, 2023 at 5:30 am

    2021 S&W M&P 2.0 Compact 9mm / ….love it!!
But I agree that the P10C is a really good gun too especially at its price point which is usually lower than the M&P.

  37. Brad Wood on June 15, 2023 at 5:31 am

    Glock is better

  38. DIY Dad on June 15, 2023 at 5:32 am

You’re not the only one to mention that they think the PDP is too large of a carry gun, it just seems "chunky" to me, although dimensionally from the outside maybe not so different. Has S&W fixed their QC issues as of late? From what I’ve heard, they were having some issues with production for a while, maybe it’s better now idk. Kinda kept me away from jumping on the 10mm right away tbh. I’ve also seen videos on YT showing the P10c have micro stress cracks on the frame which is worrisome but doesn’t seem to be any major problem at least. The trigger on my OG Shield was horrific, these have come a very long way. I feel like the regular M&P’s that take true double stack magazines will just be more versatile since they can take full size magazines and that’s huge to me. I’m really having a hard time deciding if I should go all-in on a brand just for magazine compatibility, either all M&P, HK, CZ, or Walther. I used to LOVE my Q5 match, although the ergos, and grip texture were lacking compared to my HK P30, so it would be a lot more snappy to me, slower follow-up shots but it was a tack driver. I really need to find a range and rent all of them, and decide for myself, I know a lot of this is all subjective but it’s nice to hear your thoughts! A single "gun platform" if you will, sounds like a great idea in theory.

  39. Terry Somers on June 15, 2023 at 5:33 am

Holoson SCS-MP2 will mount direct to the slide, no plate needed. Only issue is the stock sights are a bit tall for the optic.

  40. ZFlyingVLover on June 15, 2023 at 5:33 am

For me the M&P 2.0 is the best gun right now in 3.6, 4.0 and 4.5. Especially, if you have a curved(broken) finger like i do that always get glock trigger pinch . Now I hated the M&P 1.0s as well but the 2.0’s are awesome. Way better than a glock and for anyone getting glock trigger pinch way better than a CZ p10C(I have this too. I don’t want to get rid of my P10C so I am trying to find an alternative to the stock trigger). I like my Steel CZs with the curved trigger more than my CZP10C also. That said the factory co-witness sights are ok but you can always replace those with an ameriglo or whatever set that will look and function much better.
Is the M&P 2.0 a little funny looking? Yeah. Is it functionally excellent and reliable? Yeah. Is it accurate? Hell yeah. And contrary to work the trigger the recoil is LESS than the P10C. I compared my M&P 2.0 3.6 to my P10C 4.0 and it has less recoil.

The M&P 2.0 trigger is a good trigger. The M&P 1.0 trigger is garbage.

  41. Greg on June 15, 2023 at 5:36 am

M&P’s are nice handguns but I’m still a Glock guy at the end of the day. But the M&P would be my next pick. Especially before a Walther, Sig, Canik etc

  42. Brad on June 15, 2023 at 5:37 am

I’ve been interested in this exact model. But I see some that have the hinged trigger, and some with the flat trigger. I want the flat trigger, but not sure what I will get if I order online.

  43. Joe Carlson on June 15, 2023 at 5:38 am

Love the dynamic film style….. and you’re out of toilet paper😂

  44. Tim L on June 15, 2023 at 5:39 am

There is the APex trigger. Which pretty much is the first standard upgrade for the S&W MPs. Galloway Precision & others have different weight recoil springs & assemblies. Then there are Talon grips.

  45. Al Lo on June 15, 2023 at 5:41 am

So, I’m at 3 minutes and 20 seconds and so far all I’ve seen is your big head talking and talking. Get to the gun already!

  47. Miniature Farmer on June 15, 2023 at 5:45 am

  48. Random Poster on June 15, 2023 at 5:45 am

  49. Mike Lee on June 15, 2023 at 5:46 am

Too much drama. Lots of drivel. Could have covered same material in 3 minutes instead of 9. Drama queen!

  50. Joseph Santana on June 15, 2023 at 5:47 am

I’ve tried Glock, Sig, Walther PDP, Canik, and M&P. The M&P with an Apex trigger is king. Glock would be my #2 choice (I actually like the ergos with the addition of a kagwerks slide catch). PDP has the best trigger by far out of the box but I’m just not digging the high bore axis as opposed to M&P and Glock. Just love how high up I can get on the gun. Especially with Glock but M&P would be a close second for me in that regard.

I’m curious how you measured accuracy? Anything short of putting both guns in a vice wouldn’t really be a viable metric to make that statement. You might just shoot the CZ a little better because you have so much more time on it.
