Poco M3 Review | Ex-Xiaomi Budget Phone
Reviewing the Poco M3 after a week of testing as my full-time budget smartphone, including camera tests, gaming performance, battery life and beyond. After splitting with Xiaomi, this is the first independent Poco phone of 2020 and a decent affordable mobile. But is it among the best like the X3 NFC and Redmi 9?

The Poco M3 sports quite a basic 48MP primary camera that can struggle in conditions that are less than great. It’s also a little slow, with limited performance hampered further by that heavy MiUI 12 overlay.
Still, those issues and a couple of other bugs aside (including iffy BT performance with some speakers and rubbish auto brightness), the Poco M3 definitely impresses. The FHD+ screen is rather stunning for that cheap price, the 6000mAh battery keeps you going forever and the gaming chops are good with Call of Duty Mobile and PubG.
You may not love the design but at least it’s rugged, while MiUI 12 adds some great features including a proper gaming mode.

What is your daily driver phone?
So I hope you realise that when you have those google sport updates or bubbles on the side of your phone when you go to drag there is a big fat X at the bottom of your screen that you have to put it into. You don’t just swipe it down as fast as you can as shown in your example @ 2:35 in the video. I am sure you know this with the amount of phones you review.

Very bad experience! Bought 6 gb 64 gb poco m3 from a local mi store (Xiaomi’s official store)(Location: Thakurgaon,Bangladesh). Within one week, I found 2 major problems. Selfie camera is very bad because of some software or hardware issue and Gyroscope is not working properly in games (in driving many games).
I went to that mi store back again and was trying to show them what was wrong with the phone, they were not accepting at all. Then I told them I want to send it for warranty. They sent it. I got the phone from the store after one month and lots of visits and calls so that they can give my phone back from warranty fast. The Selfie camera is good enough now, but Gyroscope still having the same problem. I wanted to buy xiaomi’s more expensive phones by adding some money. They don’t accept it. I’m not going to send it for warranty repair again for one month.
My whole family using xiaomi’s phone including my past note 4 which is working till today just fine. We are not going to buy any xiaomi phone in the future because of the very bad experience I swear! The store people are very careless and their attitude is not like they want to help.

Three years ago I bought a Lenovo P2 for $250 and now I bought the Poco M3 for $130.
Antutu shows the M3 four times faster than the P2 so thanks very much to Xiaomi and Poco for offering us cheap (real life cost) phones in alternative to the overpriced and monopolistic arrogant Apple.

For those who are thinking of buying this in 2022, please stay away. Poco M3 and its twin, Redmi 9T, suffer from the “dead boot” issue. If you try to reboot, it will shut down but not boot up. No combination of power and volume button presses can turn it on. Only solution is to wait for the battery to fully drain, then connect to a charger. If the empty battery icon appears, try to turn it on. If it goes back to deadboot, try again (drain battery, connect to charger, try to turn on). Took me 3 tries before I succeeded, and now the phone must avoid reboots.
Mi a2 lite was one of my favorite phones from xiaomi – cheap, fast, plastic, huge battery and very compact. proving that the humongous size of today’s phones have nothing to do with battery size.

When 12.0.4 arrived in poco m3 its a wow the phone got better even the issue is less occured and also they fixed the lag in miui 12 animations
In my country the x3 is twice the price of the m3 so ya I’ll stick with the m3

Don’t buy this phone. It doesn’t work after trying to restart. The problem affects every single model.

the screen resolution is the worst FHD I have seen for budget phones. material used is the cheapest… Battery capacity is the only thing that makes it desirable

Why are there duplicate icons in the app drawer? For example the settings icon is in there twice, as well as the Chrome icon twice.
I’ve checked three of these phones and they are the same. Does anyone else have this duplicate icon issue?
