New S&W M&P 9 Shield EZ Pistol Review
S&W M&P 9 Shield EZ Pistol is the big brother to the .380 Shield EZ
that has been so popular. Every control easy to manipulate to help those with weak hand strength or those who are new to the shooting sport. Thanks to S&W for their help!

Great video, very informative. Thank you 🙏🏼
1) Is there a functions check for this weapon? Is it a big deal to dry fire the weapon?
2) CLP an ideal cleaner?
3) The manual has an inspection check for this gun. When checking the bore for obstructions, are we supposed to look through the barrel with a flash light?
4) Also in the inspection check, it says to make sure the firing pin isn’t protruding out from the hole it is in. Why is that?
I Guess I’m a Wuss I could carry my M191, I use to carry my SP100. In fact any gun I shoot and have no problem racking or controlling any of my guns. As for elderly I would say I am around the same age as the channel host. Where am I am I going with this? I am not a new shooter. (40 yrs +), Not a female, not an invalid, and the this is my EDC gun. Now I will admit I don’t like my friends 454 Cuasull But other then that I can handle most guns I come across. So not sure why it’s always implied that this is ladies gun..
I’m gonna say EZ a lot 😂😂😂 great review 👍🏾
I’ve been shooting for years. Bought both the 380 and 9mm to teach my significant other. I’ll tell you what, I grab these more often on range days than anything else. Much more relaxing to use these. I also enjoy my .22 pistols. This coming from a 1911 snob.
I’m a TBI Survivor, the EZ is my first pistol, I suffer with right side deficits. So I need pistols like the EZ!! Good job with it!
Hearing you talk about the price at 15:03 almost split me in half. I just bought one for almost twice that. Perhaps it’s the Covid markup.
Just bought one for my wife. She used my SW .22 Compact for her CCW class. Very similar operation.
My wife recently rented one of these at the gun range – she wants one now.
Just bought one of these because I was having trouble racking hubby’s guns. I’ll be darned. The second i got one of these (totally easy to rack), I had no trouble racking an HK VP9, CZ, and Walther PDP. And … had easier time aiming all of those as well at target practice. Do I like the S&W EZ? Yes? Easy to rack? Most def. Do I wish I had just rented that to try at first to get my bearings and then gotten something a bit bigger? Hell yes. The HK is my fave.
Great video! So thorough and I’m happy about my new purchase two weeks ago! I’m prepared to go shoot my 2nd gun purchase. Ever! I have a 357 magnum cuz that was my first. I’ll take them both to the range with my fully gun competent older bro! Hooray!!! 😍👍🏽👍🏽🥰
Recently noticed my wrist and finger arthritis is making it more difficult to rack and handle my MP9. Getting old sucks. Gonna pickup the EZ
Ty for the close up explanation of the recoil spring it was very helpful as was the whole review , appreciated
My wife bought one this past weekend and loves it. She likes it better than her P365xl and Model 19 Cary Comp.
Love your videos. Keep it up. Watched your video on the .380 EZ three years ago. Now, at 64, I traded my old standard Shield for the .380 EZ because I thought I was too old for the standard Shield. Loading the old mags were hard. And I like the grip safety on the EZ’s. Well, I can still handle 9mm recoil. I wished I would had got the 9mm EZ. Due to the .380 ammo cost and availability. I am planning to get the 9mm EZ. I will have both EZ’s . Thanks for this video.
Thank you for looking out for us women, especially us first time shooters.
I appreciate how very in depth this video was and you covered all the bases. My favorite part was when you demonstrated the guns out in the range.
Everywhere I go, it seems this gun is LEO available only. I wish I could get my hands on it. Maybe in another state.
Great video…wow you use the best clearest video……
Bought one. Thought it would be a great EDC gun. Wow. It hardly shoots without the slide getting stuck back. About half the time. Mag does not feed consistently. Called S&W. They are aware of the issue and told me to send it back, It’s going to take 8 weeks! Must be quite a line of people waiting for repairs. I wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience. But don’t take my word for it, search the web. Turns out the public is S&W’s test lab for this one. Expected more. I am truly hoping I’ll get back a perfectly functioning firearm. Hoping.
My wife is becoming a first-time gun owner and shooter. After watching this video, I’m recommending the 9mm ez for her, great educational video.
THE ONLY THING THAT I WORRY IS IF A CHILD PICK UP THIS GUN AND SHOOT SOMEONE BECAUSE IT EASY TO USE ,,,, THAT WHY I STILL LIKE GUN MODEL 1911 LIKE COLT MUSTANG 380
Getting one of these tomorrow. I’m getting the 2.0 though. It’s a super nice firearm. Definitely what I was looking for. Wanted something that my wife could use without the intimidation factor in terms of operation. This is the one!
Great review Don ! I bought This EZ for my wife as a home defense gun. I was going to get the Shield plus but i like the trigger better on the EZ plus it has a light rail.
How do you aim exactly assuming in relevance to the bullseye, would you cover the bulls eye with front middle sight and how far away were you when shooting at the 12 minutes mark in video?
Junk right out of the box. Wouldn’t chamber a single round without a jam. Good name brand store baught ammo. Would not cycle round. Sent back to S&W, they had it for 6 weeks, sent it back in the same condition. Said they filed the feed ramp, ya, whatever. I called them, said don’t send it back again, nothing more they could do. I will NEVER purchase another S&W product of any kind in my life. This paper weight is for sale if anyone needs one.

I’m really impressed with the take down of this firearm. I own a ruger sr22 and im confident with it, cause I’ve seen a lot of stories. This might be my next step up tho. I’ve been thinking about going 9mm this year.
I am so happy someone starts their video with a comment other than Whats Up!
this is my first handgun. after checking several for feel weight ect this is the one I decided on. look to start training class soon. I fell in love with it
I come here for the facts!
I cc a Glock 19 and don’t have a problem with hand strength but picked this up anyway, love it
I was able to fire some of the worst ammo with this gun and didn’t jam once. My last gun an SR9 wouldn’t jam on every round. So I sold my SR9.
Thank you for info ! Bought today and believe whole family will enjoy shooting this weapon here in Tennessee!
I love mine but it can be as bit harder to conceal as a female!
To me the 9mm is a very good conceal gun because light weight and good power with the 9mm and if you can’t hit something with 8 shots RUN. LOL
Just got mine
I bought a Shield 9mm based on your reviews. Just had features I wanted which the Glock 43 didn’t have and I’m a Glock guy. A customer of mine, 75 years of age, just got the 380 EZ. He has arthritis now. I’m only 53 and my arthritis is worse than his. I’m not having problems with my Shield but in a couple of years, who knows. Racking the slide isn’t hard on my Shield, but does hurt some. Since I’m a 38/9mm minimum for defense type, this may be an option if my hands and fingers get worse.
Love the EZ. its my edc. Getting old these days and its deffently EZ
Anyone else have failure to feed issues? I bought the 9mm for the wife. First round had an ftf. Went through 4 different types of ammo and all had ftf about every 3 rounds. The slide was very rough going back to battery. Sending this back to S&W for them to fix. I initially read so many positive reviews but am disappointed by their quality check. Not to mention this same issue goes back several years and they haven’t fixed it yet.
Due to old age and failing health I recently bought one of these guns, I
like it a lot. However when it arrived in came without any safety.
Does anyone know if it is safe to carry with a round in the chamber with
only the grip safety? I have an inside the waistband holster that is
very tight. By the way this gun costs $1000.00 + in Israel, so you see how lucky you are to live in the USA.
I have super tiny hands so even though I’m not super weak, racking certian 9mm can be difficult. My husband brought this home for himself just to have and I ended up falling in love with it. Ended up selling my Beretta PX4 Storm and using this as my carry instead. Super accurate and comfortable! The takedown was a little tricky but nothing we can’t handle.
Mine does have a thumb safety lever on the left side.
Perfect for all of the weak wristed libs out there! I’m just kidding! My mother has a disease that makes it hard for her to do anything with her hands that requires strength. This is something that she can carry, and in 9mm, so she isn’t relegated to a little pink Ruger LCP .380
This is just not a weak persons gun. We all want easy load easy rack…
That is what I have, packs quite a punch, man. I use either 115 or 124 grain rounds, Fiocchi or Winchester.
Just got my 600th round through mine and it was flawless
I’m buying one of these over the double stack in single stack options. One simple reason my work place I’m using my hands a lot so they maybe soar as heck & a easier to handle firearm I’ll take for more ergonomics & more hits on targets matter
Wdym m&p ez “shield it’s not a shield I have one
Bought one for my wife last month. Great gun.
Can’t wait to shoot my 9mm EZ just got it yesterday best thing of all, it came with a range kit all for $499.99 +tax from Academy Sports
