NEW Remington 870 ‘FIELDMASTER’

NEW Remington 870 ‘FIELDMASTER’

RemArms’ has a new version of the 870, called the ‘Fieldmaster’. These will be hitting the shelves in 2022.

We are seeing improved craftsmanship and a much better machined (hence smoother) action. Shooting video when weather permits

I can confirm the new 870’s for and finish are much better with Remarms production. Just picked up a tactical.

  2. Chad Michaels on March 6, 2023 at 2:22 am

I just want to buy a new Remington 870 18” barrel. How would I get one

  3. Matt Henciak on March 6, 2023 at 2:23 am

I love my 870 it maybe the express model but it is still an 870 and it goes hunting all the time

  4. massey9556 on March 6, 2023 at 2:23 am

Please bring back high gloss wood; blued steel! Make the 870 great again! And the 700.

  5. Josh Johnson on March 6, 2023 at 2:25 am

Kind of looks like an Express with a tapped receiver, you could get the Express with pretty nice wood furniture too bluing the finish would have made it pop out more as a step up.

  6. Randy L on March 6, 2023 at 2:26 am

I just purchased this exact one from the local gun shop. I love it

  7. Matthew Ruhland on March 6, 2023 at 2:26 am

thanks for the review. Definitely seems like an upgrade from the Express. I still think the Winchester SXP is a better bargain comparing against the Fieldmaster. I would have to go to the Wingmaster for something nicer.

  8. Dan Fifield on March 6, 2023 at 2:26 am

    Just got my daughter one

  9. ThePittas on March 6, 2023 at 2:26 am

Just bought this as my first ever gun. Getting my hunting license this year and will be getting a rifle barrel for this as well. Very excited

  10. Shane Leonard on March 6, 2023 at 2:27 am

So glad Remington is doing this. Good job

  11. Southern Native on March 6, 2023 at 2:27 am

There’s nothing about that that’s " old wingmaster quality".
My dad’s old wingmaster is the most beautiful production shotgun I’ve ever seen. Everything about it is perfect.

  12. Eric 994 on March 6, 2023 at 2:28 am

    Good review

  13. Chris Winters on March 6, 2023 at 2:31 am

Anyone shot new remarms 700 yet? Very interested in your take on them. Been looking at an adl

  15. johnnysp1 on March 6, 2023 at 2:31 am

If Remington brings back the Wingmaster, I’ll purchase it without hesitation! I treasure my older Wingmaster and would love to purchase a new one that I can pass on for many generations!!

  16. Lewie on March 6, 2023 at 2:33 am

Not a gunshop in my area carries remington………that tells you something….

  17. Dano on March 6, 2023 at 2:35 am

I hope there will be a Model 1100 Fieldmaster

  18. Mike Britt on March 6, 2023 at 2:35 am

I picked up a new fieldmaster last week and it is very nice . Trigger guard is polymer but not the Trigger and Trigger group and one post said .

  19. chad cowman on March 6, 2023 at 2:36 am

So it’s ok to buy an 870 now? I’m leaning on the tactical. How would I get a metal trigger guard though?

  20. Nelson R on March 6, 2023 at 2:36 am

Question, so does come with the rustmatic finish from the freedom group days?

  21. Matthew Costa on March 6, 2023 at 2:37 am

I don’t trust it, it’s just an express that was renamed and has better wood and checkering, the old style, but no grip cap and a plastic trigger and trigger guard, which sucks. The metal finish is still parkerized or whatever that is called that the express had that was so rust prone. Give me an old fashioned used Wingmaster any day, you get the quality and it will function and last for certain, and you’ll get a better price too.

  22. LT SIXGUN on March 6, 2023 at 2:37 am

Well if they were having problems with the price of production of the 870 Express why didn’t they just bring back the h&r partner pump that would have really had a better quality build was then Maverick 88 to so to speak since seeing how to be made out of solid steel instead of aluminum

  23. FinalLugiaGuardian on March 6, 2023 at 2:38 am

So is Eli Remington proud of his company under its new owners?

  24. Gene Lyda on March 6, 2023 at 2:40 am

It would be nice if Remington builds the 870 in a Wingmaster like they did in 1964😍high polish blue all over and a beautiful high gloss walnut stock like I remember when I was a kid to daydream over to have❤

  25. Solomon's Outdoor Reviews on March 6, 2023 at 2:40 am

Does it come wrapped in plastic inside the foam and box?

  26. Chris Guttirez on March 6, 2023 at 2:40 am

I just bought a brand new wing master in Cali

  27. Jeff Sartain on March 6, 2023 at 2:44 am

Remington’s quality is garbage now days. They are just running on their historic name. Really sad since they are one of America’s oldest and quantity firearms companies.

  28. Wayne Hajek on March 6, 2023 at 2:45 am

Is the extractor, in the new 870 Fieldmaster, still a MIM part?

  29. Kinda Git’n r done in Vermont on March 6, 2023 at 2:47 am

  30. Courtland Brady on March 6, 2023 at 2:50 am

    Are these enertia driven?

  31. Tim baker on March 6, 2023 at 2:50 am

I love how you made me feel about my favorite shotgun !! Great job man

  32. RoadCaptainEntertain on March 6, 2023 at 2:51 am

I bought a 870 Wingmaster with a 30" fixed full choke barrel in 2 3/4" chamber back in 1981/82 before the days of steel shot for waterfowling.
It has held up wonderfully over the last 40 years and has been used extensively for Doves in the rice fields & brackish marshes of S.E. Texas for Ducks.
Durable as a block of concrete. The blueing has suffered a bit as a result of being carried into the marshes as everything within a few miles of the surf is coated in salt.
My son & nephew carry 870’s today though not the Wingmaster (I suspect they are express models) after trying cheaper shotguns from other makers that did not hold up to the rigors of waterfowling.
If the Fieldmaster even comes close to the quality of the Wingmaster I would recommend it to any serious waterfowler.

  33. Red Pill Rosary on March 6, 2023 at 2:51 am

Why do people swear by mossberg more when it’s aluminum and cheaper?
Because of less rust issues or price?
I understand functions and lack of nickle plating but I feel like my Remmy is more durable than my moss (mav 88) but that moss feels so cozy.
Also the Remington is easier to load

  34. You Know on March 6, 2023 at 2:51 am

Ok this was helpful. I was concerned. I had an old one that was an amazing gun but was stolen. That gun went thru hell in the hands of a young man. This will be a present for my son for his 18th bday just like it was for me. This should be another great gun. Sad it went to crap there for awhile but seems they got it together again!

  35. Forrest Montgomery on March 6, 2023 at 2:52 am

Looks good except for the commi “scan block” on the side of the receiver, I hate that

  36. nachos_70firebird on March 6, 2023 at 3:00 am

I’m a Mossberg Owner but when I felt this 870 Fieldmaster it felt better than my 590.

  37. Bill Clinton on March 6, 2023 at 3:01 am

Don’t buy one of these, the “anti rust” works as well as duck hunting with a handgun…

  38. robby howell on March 6, 2023 at 3:01 am

It’ll never be the 870 it use to be if it has a plastic trigger. change my mind

  39. Jeffrey Babino on March 6, 2023 at 3:03 am

Hi great video gun looks great what’s the price on it thanks

  40. Ryan Woodward on March 6, 2023 at 3:04 am

    Payed By Remington

  41. Tom McQueen on March 6, 2023 at 3:06 am

  42. joseph cooley on March 6, 2023 at 3:07 am

I have a 870 200 year anniversary I love it currently looking for a new 20” smooth bore with rifle sights Remington told me 6 months they should be making barrels again

  43. Andrew P. on March 6, 2023 at 3:11 am

Got it for 500 over Independence Day. Much nicer than I’m use to with my old 90s 870

  44. George Avila on March 6, 2023 at 3:13 am

    Just bought this model 😊

  45. Christopher Berry on March 6, 2023 at 3:16 am

What are the 3 different chokes for.. im new to this gun and new to hunting. What choke is best for slug and birdshot?

  46. boedude on March 6, 2023 at 3:17 am

bought my 3" express 30 years ago and have no complaints. even slugs are dead on at 100+. like my golf clubs it’s better than I am

  47. dalan wanbdiska on March 6, 2023 at 3:17 am

Cant beat the good old wingmaster 870

  48. John Hamre on March 6, 2023 at 3:18 am

I bought a 1996 Remington 870 Express brand new at Kmart for was probably under $200 best shotgun I’ve ever had

  49. Dominic Benecasa on March 6, 2023 at 3:18 am

I own an 870 from the early 80’s it’s Left handed, it has never given me an issue. I think the quality went when it was taken over by freedom arms I don’t know what year that was. It should compete with the browning BPS.

  50. STEVE-O on March 6, 2023 at 3:19 am
