M&P Ported 5" barrel range review
M&P Ported 5" barrel range review
We shoot the 5″ long slide ported barrel from S&W performance center. I love the 5″ barrel and the ergonomics of the old Gen 1 M&P pistols.

People say whats the point, ported 2.0 9 feels like a 380EZ and less snappier than the 9EZ imho. Toss an optic and a WML and it’s almost airsoft.
How much did it cost for the slide and barrel. Will it accept a RMR.
Very nice. As a trainer do you recommend a set up like this for training & practice and carry a different gun? I have Shield, M&Pc, full size 2.0. I train/practice quite a bit with full size because I am more proficient with it. Yet, I don’t carry it near as much as the smaller guns. Thanks for the excellent info and approach.
Yeah, trying to show the difference of ported vs non on camera doesn’t come close to what the shooter feels. It’s so much more composed than it looks on camera. The only thing that shows on camera is how quickly it returns to poa.
Do you tend to relax a little bit while shooting the 5" long slide ported barrel , compared to factory slide and barrel ? Nice M&P Tactical like pistols .
FYI, Leupold DP Pro will not zero on a standard slide & barrel, only the ported versions will zero. The Leupold sits too high and runs out of adjustment on non-ported pistols. Trijicon no problems.
Edc holsters for this gun recommendations ???
Ah yes! What caliber is it because they do make it in 45 ACP.
recoil on handguns meh. Shoot a 12 ga with 3 inch mags and know what recoil means.
Wish they would make in a 45 !?
Great video, what holster are you using.
I hear ported barrels can make a pistol malfunction more easily than a non ported barrel any truth to that?
Good afternoon.
Initially, I would like to congratulate you about the excellent quality of your videos. I’m a Brazilian Army Aviation Colonel and my wife and I are IPSC shooters. I subscribe to your channel for the accurate content you present and your timely considerations.
As I live in Brazil and so we "still" have a lot of gun restrictions, so I depend on a lot of gun information before import it from the US.
I currently own an S&W M&P 9 but I intend to carry this weapon in defense. So I want to buy two more M&P 2.0 to shoot. For me, an M&P 9 2.0 5 inch. However, I doubt the size of the gun for my wife. She has a very small hand (I know I can adjust this with the back straps) but I would like to hear some thoughts on her options: M&P 9 2.0 4 inch or 4.25 inch! Apart from the capacity of the mags, what do you think there are any significant differences in performance between them such as weight, control (muzzle flip and recoil) and accuracy? Are the differences too small or are they worth considering?
Thank you guys for your attention,
Vini.
I own the M&P 2.0 Ported 5" and I will point out one thing that I have not seen mentioned in the reviews. After two or three clips, the front site will become very dim due to collecting debris from the ported exhaust. It will need to be cleaned. I do not have a red dot on mine yet, on backorder, but I have read that they do get dirty as well. His comments about the recoil are right on. It is a fun gun to shoot and mine has been very accurate. I also bought a non-ported barrel to compare and add versatility but I have not received it yet.
I like it M&P all day
People say that with the ported barrel the flash is too much for home defense but I disagree I’ve shot mine in pitch black darkness and it’s not bad at all .
I have the 4.25 inch version waiting on a guide rod and my Holosun to come in. Wish I knew they didn’t have a guide rod in the kit before selling my original slide as a set lol
I can understand ported barrels/slides for competition but not for EDC.
I have the 4.25" version. It will outperform any stock pistol on the market imo. Regardless of weight.
My ported m2.0 shield is on another level when compared to any other single stack on the market. I can put in work with that thing.
Thank you for doing a comparison! An actual useful gun review for once.
