You don’t have to break the bank to shoot the Carry Optic Division in USPSA. I have chosen to shoot the M&P 2.0 Compact with an Apex Flat Faced Trigger Kit, Outer Impact Mount & Holosun 407c Red Dot. Although this pistol has some disadvantage in this category due to its light weight, I feel it is a good option to get my feet wet with.
Has the red dot been reliable?
I have M2.0 compact 3.6” with thumb safety. Thinking about this set up in the future
I see two big snag points on the front of that plate.
Using that plate mounts the optic too high for my liking.
That’s why I went with milling the slide. Only cost about 10 bucks more than that temporary fix.
Because the red dot is mounted higher. How does that feel? Is it harder to with the pistol vs a red dot lower and milled?
It’s crazy how that gun was well over $500 a few years ago. But my question is how does it site sitting higher than usual on the slide? Great video by the way

I saw HS407CO, HS407C X2 etc
i use outerimpact too as my dovetail mount with 407k and suppressor high front sight. some hates dovetail mount but never had experience using it. the outerimpact i have is holding the recoil of my 40s&w for almost 2k rounds now. never loose zero. i uses the black sight on the back of 407k along with my front high sight as back up sights just incase my holosun fails. overall i love it!

I’ve been wanting to get an optic but ran into the same issue you did. The mounting plate is something I’ll definitely be looking at. As well as the Apex Trigger. Although this is my carry gun so it’ll be a 5 or 6 lb. trigger. New subscriber as well and the first video is exactly what I was looking for so Thank you for your work!!
I finely "pulled the trigger today". My base plates came in last week. Today my LGS had some new 507Cs on sale, for the weekend. $224.00 for them. That’s the lowest price I could find on the web for a 407C. I took it to a gunsmith today and he’ll have it for me Tue, which is one of the "me" days my wife gives me each week. (Tue. and Thu. is usually when I go to the range or at least twice a week)
Great gun, especially for the money. Reliable and accurate. Trigger is very good, but I dislike the hinge and it breaks a bit too far back for my personal preference. I’m not a competitive shooter, but that Apex addition I think would really make a difference. I love the flatty trigger face and the short take up and reset. As far as going with a red dot optic, my eyes are not what they used to be. So, that optics mounting system is something I’ll be looking into for my M&P 9 M2.0. Thanks for sharing, FP!

It is realy a well stocked gun store! Thank you sir for replying to my comment, could you answer another question please? I shot a 45 XD one day at my range, it had a laser light. I fired the 6 shots at 7 yds and I have no idea wear those shots went to this day!! ….lol I hope 507C will be much different!

I have my S&W m&p 2.0 45 acp and i’m looking for a good red dot sight
Sir, I have the same gun for EDC. I have the trueglow TFX Pro sights. I do matches with it once a month. My instructor calls it "Sharpening Your Skills" instead ofr a match against other shooters. I’m 71 and have a hard time seeing the front sight often. I’ve been sitting on the fence about getting an optic. I haven’t even considered the RMR, Aimpoint, big name sights. I’ve been looking at the 407C, shield RMS from UK, trueglow teck microdot teck all for under 250. I didn’t want to send my slide to me milled. I also didn’t want to loose my rear sight, but I don’t think I have a choice. Do you use the red dot for your POA or do place the dot on top of the front sight and fire or behind the front sight? The mounting system sounds like whats coming with these new models with optics ready pistols plates for different sights. I agree buying the mounting kit is the way to go. How could know that you lost "zero" after 200rnds or so?

They are definitely not the cheap one of the cheapest magazines on the market they are about 45 to almost $50 a magazine compared to the $20 I spent on my 1911
Good afternoon my friend and fellow Tarheel. I wanted to take a moment and compliment you on your videos. I think they are well done and very informative. I now have exactly the same setup except i have upgraded to the 4.25" Apex match grade drop in barrel. It is an amazing firing weapon and feels great in the hands. I do however have a question regarding the zoroing of the holosun. I for the life of me just cannot seem to get enough adjustment on the horizontal to even bring it close the the factory front sight. I see in your video that yours is relativly close when looking at the red dot. Do you have any suggestions on bringing it down at all?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Havnt seencthem for less than 450 ~500 yet… I got a m&p C9 the other day on sale for for 400 lol. That was a solid dealmaker I love the C9 because its double stack 🙂
