Molecular ion peak

Molecular ion peak

the parent peak or the molecular ion peak, M+ shows up at m/z = sum of the atomic masses of the most abundant isotope of each atom in the molecule. When it’s the most abundant peak in the mass spectrum, it’s called the base peak, but M+ is not always the base peak.
