Marlin Guide Gun .45-70

We thought it was time to feature this little “Heavy-duty Thumper”! You’ve seen it in action in a couple of different videos, but we’ve been negligent in doing a “Show, Tell, & Shoot” video with it. 🙂

The brush gun of Fallout New Vegas, and the MK2 Carbine of Call of Duty Modern Warfare….I love using both!

  2. Not Goat on December 9, 2021 at 10:55 pm

  5. :l on December 9, 2021 at 10:58 pm

Ghost rings and porting? Sounds like an absolute sweetheart for someone new to big bore.

  6. musket 0402 on December 9, 2021 at 11:00 pm

You’re a good shot and convincing! I’m sold on the 45-70.

  7. Mohammed Cohen on December 9, 2021 at 11:01 pm

…my wife bought me one of the original Guide Guns w/the 16 in ported IS a thumper…bud of mine reloaded .47/70 for SS rifles/carbines and used TP for filler with smokeless powder…first time I shot it on the range I got questions about the ‘white stuff’ goin’ downrange – told ’em what it was and that they needed to chase it downrange and police it up – come a TP shortage they’d need it…looks like I was prophetical… ya gotta be careful when you reload for lever guns vs SS rifles/carbines…the OAL Is very critical…

  8. mark shean on December 9, 2021 at 11:05 pm

Never saw him so energetic with any other gun.

  9. Shane Howard on December 9, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I just picked up one of these. Bringing with me when I take my son deer and bear hunting. This is just incase when he shoots, I’m there as backup. Exactly what the gun was designed for. Unfortunately,With everything going on right now, all the local gun ranges are closed. I haven’t had a chance to cite it in. It is all stock. What are they zeroed in at from the factory?

  10. Wasteland Project on December 9, 2021 at 11:08 pm

My favorite weapon in practically all Fallout games, but live is much better, I hope Bethesda notices.😁

  11. Byron Ayala on December 9, 2021 at 11:08 pm

What Model do you think Kevin Kosner used in Dances with Wolves?

  12. Steve Martin on December 9, 2021 at 11:09 pm

You’re shooting lead bullets. Jacketed bullet so there’s not going to be much recoil with lead bullets.

  13. Jeff C on December 9, 2021 at 11:09 pm

This is the video that made me buy this gun for my 25th birthday. For a few years I had wondered if I’d made a mistake since it seemed a bit much for GA and TN. Now that I have a long 40 acre farm, I’m glad I have it. Need something that will drop a deer quickly before it has time to run into the surrounding cattle farms or state park. Great video!

  14. Steven DeMott on December 9, 2021 at 11:09 pm

I just got a brand new one in stainless. Its very beautiful. Also went with the custom leather stock holder you recomended. She hasnt been fired yet,

  19. 孫威廉 on December 9, 2021 at 11:14 pm

Where did you get the saddle on the stock

  20. GalloPazzesco on December 9, 2021 at 11:16 pm

I’ve got one (JM stamped Marlin 1895G ported serial #99xxxxxxx) just like it and Diamond D Custom Leather needs to put you on their payroll … as much stuff as I have bought from them because of your videos. Sure wish I could get my hands on more brass these days. While 45-70 brass lasts through a lot of reloadings it is darn near impossible to find for the past two years really.

  21. Michael West on December 9, 2021 at 11:17 pm

  22. Lea Cothern on December 9, 2021 at 11:18 pm

  29. Kevin Maki on December 9, 2021 at 11:25 pm

Hickock, do have problems with your buttstock cartridge holder moving forward after shooting? If so what have you done to prevent it I’ve tried everything. Thank you.

  30. The Bardock on December 9, 2021 at 11:27 pm

They really kick that bad because it don’t look bad

  31. Larry Reid on December 9, 2021 at 11:28 pm

What a deadly marlin !!!!! Does she ever hit hard on the target !!!

  32. Diogenes on December 9, 2021 at 11:30 pm

You do not lose game with the 45-70,& one shot is all it takes. I’ve been laughed at for using one on white tailed deer but the laughing stops when venison is served while listening to the hard luck stories of the laffers😁.

  33. Bushman on December 9, 2021 at 11:30 pm

I just picked up a Marlin 444P, looking forward to working up some loads for it and decking a Deer

  34. Chris Webster on December 9, 2021 at 11:31 pm

I cannot imagine anyone, especially a male, bringing a firearm back to the shop because it "kicked too hard".

  35. Valentin Bourget on December 9, 2021 at 11:32 pm

I love Marlin lever guns although i don’t own one just yet!:/ However i did just order one today on memorial day! I purchased almost the same exact rifle you have here. Its the 1895 Classic model. and its listed as a 4+1 capacity.I was wondering though are these 1895s able to shoot the modern +P ammo we have today as well as the lower pressured .45/70 made for old rifles? Also can some one get an after market magazine tube to add to its capacity of the Classic model that carry’s a 22" barrel? I have contacted quite a few people including Marlin them selves and i’m not getting any replays? The companies just are not keeping up with customer service during these times i’m afrade?Ill be using the rifle for hogs and bear so….would just like to have more then 4 or 5rounds just in case>?lol
