Iraq War veteran Chris Cappy gives the Next Generation Squad Weapon rundown. These three companies are in competition to replace the M-16, M-249 SAW and the M-240 bravo with the NGSW.
Each bid has unique pro’s and con’s and feature technology we never imagined would already be ready to use. One of these 6.8mm weapons will replace the 5.56 firing M16 after 60 years in service. We’re taking you literally inside the Textron bid for the NGSW to show you the incredible new technologies implemented.

This might sound conspiratorial but hear me out:
With how authoritarian our government is quickly becoming and the fact that it is actively trying to destroy civilian ownership and use of weaponry, particularly military style weapons, DO NOT put it past the people making these decisions to choose a weapons system that is proprietary and can be completely controlled by government, meaning… neither the guns nor the ammo will be allowed to be acquired by civilians nor can the cases be reloaded and find their way into the average joe’s reloading room via the surplus market. It would be a very effective way to destroy the shooting and gun culture in the U.S., albeit a slow one.
These are the kinds of sneaky, underhanded and evil people we are dealing with who wield power in society.

Saw a video that claimed the main reason for the change was that American citizens wouldn’t have ammo/interchangeable parts readily available for any U.S. Weapons captured from U.S. forces during martial law situations.

I don’t even understand why the US is buying German made weapons when we have plenty of domestic manufacturers… Firearms aren’t like rocket science and neither have a huge advantage over the others. Better thing is to use US tax payer funded dollars to equip our military with US made weapons, not buying from Germany who isn’t a real ally of the US. Most Germans actually dislke the US, hate Americans and Germans voted not long ago on PEWresearch they want the US to fall as the world superpower and influencer and for CCP China to take its place… Germans are also helping CCP China build a war submarine. I don’t think Germany is a legit ally, tbh. Also, I used to live in Germany and can attest to the anti-American rhetoric. These European firearm manufacturers already rely on selling to US civilians, but our military/government should purchase from and support US domestic companies, manufacturers and industry just like most other countries do. The only reason why other countries would procure military gear from a foreign manufacturer is if their domestics simply do not have the capability, are very technologically advantaged, etc. But the US government seems to just put price ahead of anything… We should really consider the advantages of purchasing from a domestic company and supporting our own country instead of a country that literally hates the US and our values.

I like the SIG it’s basically an upgraded m4, common sense keep a weapon, fix the problems, good weapon, upgrade the weapon to next gen, better weapon.

The GD-Design sounds amazing!
I really like the General Dynamics design, but if I were to bet my money on it, I’d probably go with Sig Sauer.
My only question is really whether these will be viable in close combat. Desert combat, it’s probably amazing. In an urban setting, I’d rather have an M4 for less weight and recoil.
I here the 6.5 Grendel is the best cartridge for the ar15 platform.

I love the general dynamics version. Along with the fact it’s just a barrel change to make a 240 shoot the round as the squad weapon. Also that the synthetic cartridge keep all but the barrel cool. Then like the sig it has a reciprocating barrel also.
more parts, more breakdowns. plastic ammo means PLASTIC. another problem. get a rifle which can pearce body armor and can work all day long.and go the distance. you know, like the m1 garand.

I all reality, would be better off stick with what they have, or dusting off the m14s, and dumping all this money into securing complete domestic resourcing of individual drones. Russian just ordered 7 million. We’re essentially converting our flintlocks into breach loaders, while "they" are building Garands.
As a British Veteran (not my real name FYI), the bullpup design is NOT hated, it is preferred. Reloads are EASY, and balances the weapon nicely, as well as lending to superb accuracy.
Certainly my preferred layout for a rifle.

A lighter SAW replacement can’t be bad! I carried one on on a road march once, Heavy enough with all the other stuff, almost as bad as the time Top put a Fire Extinguisher in My Ruck!
I hope we use the Sig that’s chambered in the GD plastic ammo.
