How to Install Apex Trigger in S&W M&P M2.0
How to Install Apex Trigger in S&W M&P M2.0
We install the Apex Flatty Trigger with Forward Set Sear kit in our Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 9mm pistol (without thumb safety.)
You have likely heard of the significant trigger improvement that the M&P M2.0 offers over its predecessor. We were curious to see for ourselves about the much talked about Apex triggers, so we contacted Apex Tactical and they sent us one. This particular kit is the 100-154.
Watch to see how easy it is to install the Apex Flatty Trigger with Forward Set Sear kit. Check out our review to see how much it will be able to improve on what S&W has done.

Just found and watched this video, after getting a new to me 4.0. I gotta say, I watched this once, and man I was able to do it 4 more times to configure it the way I wanted. Excellent video.
Also, I put the OEM shoe back in…. Don’t like the APEX flat trigger. Love the tuning aspect, though.
Excellent video but I ended up using the bronze spring that came in the kit the factory is too soft for me
How is the trigger holding up brother?
You’re doing God’s work sir….thank you for this!
Thanks for the easy to follow video. For anyone curious, this video works for the curved forward set trigger from Apex, as well. 👍
Fantastic video. Thank you for the detailed instructions. The only thing I would have liked to see is proper installation of the trigger spring.
is it a big deal if you use the factory spring and not the apex spring under the rear sight? Rear sight was tight as heck and had to use a sight tool to move it…so hate to double back unless its absolutely necessary; stupid blunder on my part.
Thanks for having made this vid, got the Apex flat trigger for my 9mm ver 1.0. An upgrade I should have done 7-8 years ago, what a world of difference. Trigger is great, Apex lack of instructions suck, so you’re a life saver!
I can’t get my actuator in it’s too tight
Great video
Is it possible that the M&P m2.0 was updated in the last couple of years and no longer has an actuator in the sear assembly? I sure didn’t see one in the dissemble and there would certainly be no room for the one that came in the package. Problem 2: in the multiple attempts to get the trigger capture pin to grab the corresponding end of the trigger bar (dropping it, spring falling out, trying different tools) I managed to get it seated with the trigger turned in the wrong direction!! Should I even try popping it out now? It seems to be a mechanized pin that grabs permanently once it’s in there? I feel like I might have to order a new trigger bar and see if apex can just send a new trigger- not the whole kit.
Thanx great job
Excellent video. Had to watch a few times to make sure I was doing it correctly. I didn’t read your note and forgot to install the takedown lever.
Good video. It helped a lor
Amazing video!! The M&P 2.0 Compact C.O.R.E doesn’t require you to remove the rear sight. The safety plunger is under the optics plate cover
brought mine to a gun smith and he is going to install the same trigger thanks for the video
This is hands down one of the best "how to" videos I’ve seen! Great job!
Having difficulty getting pin through trigger with trigger bar. That pin won’t move
Given it being 2 years later.. do u still agree with this gun being valuable?. And also with this trigger change?
1st thing awesome video sir. I was researching installing a apex trigger for a friend, am not saying it can be done but it not easy either. Cleaning my m18 I popped out my trigger and trigger bar and put them back in in less than 2 min. Sig p320 are way easier to change triggers.
Sights can come of either direction, S&W confirmed it.
Do you recommend polishing the trigger bar or any other parts during this install?
Thanks for the video helped alot just put the trigger in feels really nice
The video was informative, but the constant out of focus and bouncing light was maddening.
I just installed one on my m&p 40 m1.0. I have VERY little take up and pretty much no over-travel. Is that normal? It seems like a bit TOO light and short. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video!!! Installed my flat apex today and your video made it a breeze!!
exactly what i needed. gonna change out my trigger and add a RDS in one flatty change thanks
Perfect video ! Thank you. Did you file your rear sight a bit after removing it to make it slide in and out so easily? I had a heck of a time hammering my rear sight out and the fit going back in is as tight as can be.
man, so ez to follow. thanks a lot!
Thank you so much this video gave me enough balls to try the install myself I have the same apex trigger on the way for my m&p and I didn’t want to have to pay the gunsmith in my area the $75 he’s asking
Quick question. When pulling the trigger with the slide off, is the sear flush with the sear housing in the back or does the sear slightly higher than the housing?
I have the new M&P that is optics ready and could not get to the striker piston because the new location is under where the red dot goes, and it covered with some sort of tiny plate and rivet. I followed the rest of the vid and everything went smoothly, love this trigger and I appreciate you taking the time to walk us through the instillation process.
I have everything else done but can’t for the life of me get the trigger bar to click into that trigger pin on the apex
Great video. Thanks!!
Don’t mess up like I did.
Immediately messes up. Thanks
This would be a good time to put a set of night sights on your S&W 2.0. That’s my plan.
By far the best instructional video for the installation of the apex trigger. Great video and thank you for your assistance.
Great video. Very well done!
Awesome video, thank you very much!
This is like 10x’s better than the Apex install videos. I just hope it’s similar on the M&P series 1 I’ll be doing this too.
FYI: Apex has a second revision of this trigger that has a wider ploymer drop safety that is supposed to be more durable than the thin aluminum one in this video. They also released a “budget” version of this trigger that is all polymer.
I got the new polymer version. Install was almost the same; However, I have the newer M&P with optics ready slide and you do not have to move the sight to access the striker block piston. It is under the optics pocket cover… After the pocket cover (or optic) is removed, you use a .050 Allen wrench to unscrew the little cam shaped cover for the striker block piston.
VERY detailed!!!!! Thanks!!! Doing this as soon as parts get here.
I forgot to change the plunger spring to the apex spring do I need to go back in and change it or does it not make that much of a difference??
Is this a performance core? Is same removal and part on a performance core 2.0?
I’m not getting any clicks after reassembling. Is this a seer issue I suppose?
would love to install mine myself but I cannot remove the rear sight on my m2.0 5"… been trying for like two hours
I used a piece of freezer tape to mark sight alignment. Worked great.
I had a ppq painted and had to reassemble myself. Got done, sure as shit I had extra parts. Take it apart and had to watch 3 videos strung together to get it right. Nice complete vid.
Thank you! This saved me a trip to the GS and a few $$!
I just followed you step by step without ba hiccup thank you so much
