Gun Test: Yildiz .410 O/U

Gun Test: Yildiz .410 O/U

We’re testing the Yildiz .410 over-and-under – a brilliant starter gun for a young shot, and one that the parents will be tempted to try too! Our expert reviewer this time is Patrick Thick, a shooting instructor at The Oxford Gun Company.

I like shooting trap with a. 410 when I just wanna have fun. At my old club we would shoot trap from the skeet stations.

Looks more like a woman’s gun than kids gun. 26” is way too long, stock looks too long as well. This might fit older kids but likely much too big for ages 7 to 12.

One thing that you can expect from affordable guns made in Turkey is nice figured wood. I’ve seen amazing wood even in some ordinary Hatsan break barrel air rifles.

Selling Yildiz shotguns is like dressing a hog sow up in a 800 dollar dress, and drenching her with perfume, in an flagrant attempt to obtain a date for her… Trouble is… she’s still a pig… no matter how you dress her up! Well… they must have something to sell the not so well healed! Shotgun Sports really aren’t meant for the masses in the UK… no matter what they say!

Does he go by Rick Thick?

  15. Dirt Road Grocery Store on November 10, 2021 at 7:42 pm

Shame they don’t build a 28 gauge on that frame. Building the 28 on the 20 gauge frame is unappealing.

  16. Colt Winchester on November 10, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Can anyone tell me does the Yildiz 410 take 3 inch shell, or 2 3/4 shells.
I can’t find an answer to this. Any help from someone that owns one would be appreciated.

  17. Bobby Thompson on November 10, 2021 at 7:43 pm

Great little gun, ammunition is way too expensive!!!!!!!!

  18. Thomas Key on November 10, 2021 at 7:45 pm

    Junk gun!

  20. Orv H on November 10, 2021 at 7:46 pm

I’ve read that although .410 has so little kick, is difficult for kids to learn on, as so few pellets. No room for error. Why else would they have sub-guage skeet?
Thinking of trying new 12 mini shell 1.75" by Aguila with my grandson.

  21. Doug Cooley on November 10, 2021 at 7:48 pm

a 410 is actually a professional gun,,,when you get bored with the large bores.

Here’s the expertise of the Turks on god

  23. Leon_Fishes on November 10, 2021 at 7:50 pm

How much do they go for?

  24. bosstube on November 10, 2021 at 7:50 pm

410 is a terrible gun to teach kids with because it’s a lot harder to shoot well with there are fewer pellets and your range is very limited a child who goes out with a 410 shoots 200 rounds at clays and hits 15 will be discouraged and may just drop the sport if that same kid shoots as many shells with a decent 20 ga but hits 100 won’t be any worse for wear and will be more tempted to come back

  25. luixz on November 10, 2021 at 7:52 pm

Ik this was posted 2 year ago but had the same gun for 6 years never misfired or had any problems great cheap reliable started gun

  26. Andrew Lambert on November 10, 2021 at 7:52 pm

I just love 410. . Great priced to have a collection. Cheaper than air rifles..

  27. Pigdoc1 on November 10, 2021 at 7:53 pm

Honestly, this is an "experts" gun. Design these to adult dimensions! Im 6’4" and shoot the 410 at the range and at game all the time.

  28. Ed ash on November 10, 2021 at 7:55 pm

    Dear sir,
THINK about this weapon and a 45 caliber bullet..DO not consider it is ONLY for a child..

  29. Dominic Johnson on November 10, 2021 at 7:55 pm

I bought this gun for my son’s first shotgun it’s great value good for the young shooter! Don’t expect top quality but for the money it’s spot on

  30. Skip Mole on November 10, 2021 at 7:57 pm

I think what Mr Thick is trying to explain, is that the gun should be in suitable proportion to the shooter. Much rubbish is regurgitated regarding .410’s. I started with a SB folder at the age of 11 and became quite the killer of farm rats and rabbits. At ranges of up to 20 yards it did the job without hammering me. I learnt to handle a gun safely, stalk my quarry and shoot straight. It even earned me pocket money as a pest controller! If you expect the youngster to shoot clays with such a gun, you will discourage him. If you tell him to sit quietly on a wall and shoot the rat as it scurries across the yard, he will be a shooter for life.

    You suck!,,,,

  32. Leon Maurice on November 10, 2021 at 7:59 pm

    I absolutely love my 410!

  33. enda byrne on November 10, 2021 at 8:02 pm

We use the extra long ones because we think the short ones are chrap

  34. tom puckett on November 10, 2021 at 8:07 pm

Great gun! How many goddamn times are you going to open and close the fucking gun when your just talking????????

  35. Nicholas Christophorou on November 10, 2021 at 8:09 pm

    sad… no proof marks!!!

  36. Rick Meadows on November 10, 2021 at 8:09 pm

In America, kids start on a 12 gauge!

  37. Triumph 2016 on November 10, 2021 at 8:10 pm

Mr digweed started on a 410, like millions of others around the world, did him no harm, say no more.

  38. highlandrab19 on November 10, 2021 at 8:10 pm

Why not a 28 bore? .410 has so little shot its quite different handling to most other guns
