  2. Ken B. NPB on November 7, 2021 at 10:16 pm

Excellent hard hitting weapon, I personally owned one years ago, never had a problem with it & one of the easiest platforms to clean, unlike the M16 / M4 platforms.

the ds arms para scope mount does not require removal to take out the bolt. it has a keyed spring keeper that pops out so you can remove the bolt and spring .

  6. Pete Mcphee on November 7, 2021 at 10:20 pm

The guy firing this is embarrassing. Clearly has never got used to the rifle…. Handling it like an M4…. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ

  7. Mark Miller on November 7, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Someone should redesign the FN-Fal. Remove the dust cover and replace it with a solid piece extending from the barrel. I realize this is basically the design for the SCAR which descended from the FN. But this modified FN design could be a more economical rifle where the SCAR is $3000-$4000 this version would be more in the $1000 range.

CANADIAN FN C1 IS THE ONE I FIRST USED AND I WAS ISSUES A NEW ONE FROM OLD STOCK IN 89, numbers and crates showed 1955 .IT was a solid heavy rifle ,a bitch to carry on a long march but at least we knew it functioned when needed UNLIKE the C7 our M16 NATO STANDARD which was light but not reliable . l can only imagine the frustration the US army felt in Vietnam every time the M16 jammed while in a fire fight .

  21. alfaholic3 on November 7, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Originally it was supposed to fire an intermediate round but the US said they would buy them but only if they were in 7.62 NATO only to go back on their promise and adopted the M14 and later the M16 after the gun was redesigned for the NATO round.

    God I love the FAL
It just works, not to mention it looks great doing it

  25. Cadian122 on November 7, 2021 at 10:42 pm

The FN FAL was the finest service rifle in the world from the 50s all the way to the late 70s and the advent of the Steyr AUG in 1977 in my humble opinion…
The FAL easily outclassed the G3 and M14 in weight and ease of use … The manual of arms is so much better.. The charging handle is where it should be.. Bolt locks back on last shot.. Short stroke piston reliability … Everything you could want from a battle rifle..
I believe just as reliable as the AK and more accurate and more range..
And far far more reliable then the Vietnam era M16A1s

  26. John Worthington on November 7, 2021 at 10:42 pm

I throughly enjoy and trust mine.

  30. teller121 on November 7, 2021 at 10:48 pm

does the different recoil spring and stock make the para model any more or less reliable than the standard version?

  31. DDT strc on November 7, 2021 at 10:49 pm

FN FAL with the rifle my father carried during combat and due to its reliability and lethality he lived so i could be born.

    Nice one great gun ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  34. Dane Lobe on November 7, 2021 at 10:52 pm

I was on the receiving end of an FN-FAL while attached to 1st Battalion 8th Marines in early 1983 street patrols in Beruit.
I can tell you it’s a deadly weapon and it had us pinned down for way to long. The shooter was eliminated and we recovered his weapon. It has it’s own sound, and I’m glad it was the only one we ever ran into. I have more respect for it than the AK.

  35. fegman on November 7, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Calling the Falklands and Rhodesian conflicts a ‘nature hike’ is a bit like calling Vietnam a beach holiday then??

  36. Judo Lenny Ireland on November 7, 2021 at 10:53 pm

I used the FN in the Irish Defence Forces both at home and on service in the Middle East. Thereโ€™s not much more to add to whatโ€™s already been said, the FN is a legend

  37. JM NEO on November 7, 2021 at 10:56 pm

The recoil is sort of the US’s fault, they demanded the use of the bigger .308 when the platform was suppose to use a lighter round. Then they abandoned the .308 later down the road.

I really hate how the FAL is criticized for its recoil then they compare it to an AR/M4. Its when the US actually got to developing the AR platform they finally learned their lesson.

The FAL could have been a legendary rifle that is lightweight, compact and using intermediate rounds. But no, its legacy is snuff cuz the US wanted to feel special.

(I do not claim to know how guns works but anyone can read history.)

  38. Cirilo Ocon on November 7, 2021 at 10:57 pm

  41. Anthony Salgado on November 7, 2021 at 11:00 pm

In the SADF we had the carry handle cut off.

  42. Randall Price on November 7, 2021 at 11:01 pm

    1. Forgot to mention the gas cut off. 2.adjust the front sight up if it is hitting high. . 3.and very important. You don’t have to put a whole clip into a target like an AR. . 4. Unlike THE AR, this is a battle rifle, not a sporting gun. …… Funny how in ww2, men that averaged 140 pounds at 5foot 8 were able to carry 10 pound battle rifles all day and modern men 170 pounds 6 foot whine about carrying a rifle over 8 pounds. Just saying having been around ARs and the tacticool crowd that I would much rather have the advantage of superior ballistics and long term durability and run time without cleaning. Happy ๐Ÿ˜Š4th of July

  47. Jason Hall on November 7, 2021 at 11:05 pm

I picked up a DS Arms FAL with a 16 inch barrel a few years ago. It’s a great rifle.

  48. jonathan hudson on November 7, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I know the imbel is the reciever that most people want, and will absolutely turn their nose up at a hesse reciever century build. I personally have a century FAL paratrooper model made on a hesse reciever and it’s a great shooting rifle and is very reliable with all kinds of 7.62×51 and 308 ammo. A fellow gunsmith had it, and he himself had gotten it from another gunsmith. So it is far from how it came from century. I havent needed to mechanically upgrade or repair anything with. Also, I have shot a new DSA FAL and compared to my century, the dsa is extremely picky about ammo and magazines. My century will work with both inch and metric pattern magazines, holds a tighter group with every type of ammo compared to the dsa (with the ammo we had with us) despite my rudimentary para sights, the dsa also needed the gas regulator turned almost wide open just to get the spent brass to fall out of it. The DSA had multiple (almost constant) failures with DSA mags but it did work good (but not 100%) with one of my 7 Israeli surplus mags. Century might not be on the top of the list when it comes to an FAL but DSA does not make a quality FAL that I have seen. Also the one that I actually spent half a day shooting acted basically the same as the 4 other DSA FALs people have had me look at. I dont know where you can find a quality FAL, unless you fund a good surplus one that you are allowed to test fire a good bit before buying. Better yet, just buy a PTR91 and dont worry about any of the BS that comes along with an FAL.

This looks so much better than an SA80.

  50. Raspian Kiado on November 7, 2021 at 11:11 pm

Less parts than an AK and just as much reliability, similar performance to other .308 battle rifles. A rifle from the 40’s/50’s that can still stand among it’s younger, overly complex cousins.
